  1. i am using firefox and the words are readable in a greenish ting under the black strip.

not just here but in some other topics as well, but all were trivial spoilers, nothing big.. yet. i worry that someday i might accidentally read some big game plot :|

Using Chrome. And having the same problem as Nemo. Can read what's in the HIDE spoilers. :|

Yeah, tried via FF and I can see the words underneath if I look hard enough. But maybe it depends on your monitor's settings.

  2. would people PLEASE stop using this black line and use the normal hidden spoiler ?? either get the the old black stripes which completely hid the words of use the new clicky reveal spoiler. this one gautam used here hides nothing and the word is easily readable in some weird greenish glow

How were you able to read it? It's perfectly black here via Chrome.

  3. Karizma.. uggghhh.. refurbished rubbish recycled repeatedly right (ran out of r-words) from its inception.

Ninja looks better if you can afford it. The r-15 seems to have such a low stance, atleast from seeing friends who ride it.

Disclaimer: I'm strictly a car-person, I do NOT know how to ride non-auto-geared bikes cos I've never had anyone to teach me, so I can't comment on performance blah blah...

  4. Do yourself a favour and watch the first film instead of this. It is so much better in every aspect (including effects) that it's not even funny, considering it released over 20 years ago. And there's no replacement for Arnie when it comes to playing tough believable mofos.

Ive seen the first 2 movies so many times already... and that AvP abomination... oh lord those 2 flicks were so funny, I was laughing in the theater. I was hoping this would change things.

Oh well, I guess the comics for the story were enough for this movie too.

We've already seen enough of a nutty Lawrence Fishburne in another flick, besides he's just onscreen for very little time before his ploy backfires in this one right?

    .

EDIT: how did u do that particular type of spoiler post ??

  5. Watched Predators. The movie didn't do anything for me. Broody is horribly miscast and can't play a tough guy for sh*t. I guess Lawrence Fishburne's cameo was the highlight of the movie

I went and read the entire movie-based comic (including the prequels and sequels) and I still haven't had a chance to see the film

  6. http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/nationite-midnite-android-tablet-using-ipad-arm-cortex-a8-technology-06-08-2010/

The Nationite MIDnite could be just another Android powered tablet but what makes this devices special it that it uses the ARM Cortex A8 technology as used in the iPad’s Apple A4 CPU or Samsung’s Hummingbird.

Not only that the MIDnite tablet is also only priced at 153.61 Euros or around $200. Check out a demo video after the break.

Due to the expensive processor technology other components have need to be trimmed back to keep the price around $200. So rather than a capacitive screens we’re used to these days, the tablet display is 800 x 480 WVGA, but uses a resistive, single-touch panel.

Also the 3,000 mAh battery is only capable of providing 5-6hrs of juice with WiFi turned on, or 7-10hrs with it turned off.

It does however have 256MB of RAM and 2GB of flash storage; a microSD slot that takes up to 16GB cards for expansion and storage and supports video MKV (H.264 HP)/RMVB/MPEG-4/FLV/MPEG-1/MPEG-2 up to 720p has intergrated speakers and a headphone jack.

The Nationite MIDnite Android Tablet is available to pre-order from the MP4nation website for 153.61 Euros with the device shipping on August 23rd 2010

  7. glbenchmark actually tests only opengl implementation. So, this is not exactly a CPU comparison (although some tests do have some CPU related components). This is mainly a GPU comparison. Hummingbird was quite far ahead of current snapdragon slot in GPU department (almost 2x or more) and the new chip has caught up to that level. CPU wise it is much stronger which doesn't show up in these results because of the reason I mentioned above plus the other fact is that the benchmark is not tuned to test multicore chips in the best way possible yet.

Hope the CPU really turns out to be something. My contact within Qualcomm had said already that they were getting faster benchmarks than the SGS's Hummingbird but that they wouldn't officially let out any results until and unless it came inside a phone. If that's true (And he's never once exaggerated), then it better be this phone he was talking about.

  8. HTC and other manufacturers need to learn more than a thing or two about battery life and work towards hicap batteries rather than shovel 1300 and 1500mAh jobs in such heavy-duty phones.

I'm more than impressed by my SGS which also does a 1500mAH but is super awesome at battery consumption. I can push this thing for 2 days easily with about a couple of hours calls and 2 hours of video and wifi browsing.

What video do you specifically watch? Animal porn? :naughty:

    j/k

Does Android do that? Cos i heard the pastures are greener over here than in the iOS camp in this regard

  9. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2010/08/05/dual-core-glacier-details-leak/1

HTC looks to be working on its fastest Android-based handset yet - but it has chosen possibly the worst name to emphasise speed ever: the HTC Glacier.

The latest handset, apparently named for the extremely slow-moving ice sheets, was first noticed by AlienBabelTech on the GLBenchmark site - and the scores tell their own story, with the as-yet unannounced Glacier beating HTC's current leading handset the Evo 4G by a comfortable margin, scoring up to three times higher in some cases.

The theory as to the device's speed is the presence of a dual-core ARM chip - the first to be used in an Android handset. Most likely Qualcomm's dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, the presence of two physical processing cores would explain the extremely high benchmark scores.

Interestingly - and disappointingly for HTC if the figures truly are the result of testing on the company's next-generation handset - the scores posted are only slightly higher than the Samsung Galaxy S - which has a 1GHz Hummingbird ARM-based processor at its heart.

The scores were posted to the benchmark site, and have since been removed, by T-Mobile employee Mike Bibick - leading DailyTech to suggest that the device represents T-Mobile's rumoured Project Emerald dual-core smartphone.

Neither HTC nor T-Mobile is confirming - or, for that matter, denying - the rumours of a dual-core device, but it's a logical place to take the technology: with core clock speeds not progressing very far past the 1.2GHz mark, adding additional processing cores is certainly the way to go in order to improve performance - but it remains to be seen what effect this has on the Glacier's battery life.

Are you excited by the prospect of a dual-core Android handset, or merely disappointed that it appears to have been beaten by a theoretically slower chip even before it's launched? Share your thoughts over in the forums.

  10. So...I have rooted my phone, but the Phone application doesn't work. I cannot make phone calls - it does a Force Close everytime I access phone. Otherwise everything seems to be working fine. And yeah - lost all my apps and messages. Contacts thankfully were synced with google.

So I need a proper firmware and kernel combo. Help.

    Live wallpapers FTW

Phew - flashed my phone with the Indian firmware, things seem to be back to normal. I can access phone / edge network / camera again. Will try rooting again later.

This is why old people need tech support while performing tasks with their hardware ;)

  11. This guy MT, is like the celebrity here in IVG.. Wow.. Guess I made a good Frand in here..

The man with the moolah who makes us go green

with envy .... no, not in an Al Gore sense

    !

He's the guy Snake wants to dethrone (as was evident from the previous page) too. You still out there Lord Vader?

Some dude at college told me he could get 20kmpl with his Swift. Is that really possible?

  12. It won't have access to Android marketplace..atleast not without rooting..

SO merely having an android OS and wifi internet access doesn't guarantee Market access too?

But why would they restrict it? Isn't the processor specified good enough to run any kind of app?

EDIT: i read that some $150 Augen tablet came with the Android marketplace enabled, and that even without it, you could use apk files to install apps onto it.

  13. Wonderful deal provided they deliver.

Will suggest this to Dad when the Cruze is a year old

and in all likelihood get told to shut up for presuming to be able to advise him on money matters :(

You can check it out at the cholamandalam MS website. Its called 360 protect or something

    :giggle:

  14. Captivate has a nice built but each of the Galaxy S there lacks a feature here and there. International Galaxy S is the best with all the features.

Yeah, but no flash once again.

Oh btw, another Android PMP in the works:

    The listing is here: http://www.jr.com/archos/pe/AHS_501570/

Hit it before it's taken down (if it ever is taken down)

    Source: http://netbooksreview.net/news/archos-generation-8/

Last month, we mentioned that the Archos was preparing to launch 5 new tablets running Android OS and now, it appears as if we now have some juicy details on the one of the cheap ones, thanks to the leak by JR.com. It has been mentioned as Archos 32 8GB and the asking price is 150 dollars. The device is outfitted with a 3.2-inch 400×240 pixel display.

The Archos 32 is powered by an ARM Cortex A8 processor and supports a wide-variety of video/audio formats

Video playback: MPEG-4 HD (up to 720p, 24fps@12Mbps) / MPEG-42 (ASP@L5 AVI, up to DVD resolution, 24fps@12Mbps) / H.264 HD (HP@L3.1 up to 720p, 24fps@7Mbps) / WMV9/VC1 (AP up to 720p 24fps@10Mbps) / MJPG (Motion JPEG) in VGA resolution (With Optional plug-in: Cinema: MPEG2 (up to DVD resolution MP/D1, 30fps@15Mbps) / With the above codecs, the device can play video files with the following extensions: AVI, MP4, MOV, 3GP, MPG, PS, TS, VOB, MKV, FLV, RM, RMVB, ASF, WMV

    Audio Playback: MP3 CBR & VBR / WMA, WMA-Pro 5.1 / WAV (PCM/ADPCM) / AAC, AAC+ 5.13 / OGG Vorbis / FLAC (With optional Software plug-in: AC3 5.1)

In case you did not notice, it is clearly mentioned that the device can do 720p video, 24fps at 3Mbps. Other specs include USB 2.0 host, composite video output, microphone, Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth EDR. Weighs 2.54oz

Note that it's half the price of the iPod Touch with comparable storage. Yes, no apps, but if it has access to Android Apps that should be an equalizer.

  15. @Gaurav

How'd MT grow so much hair in the first Pic. oh wait, i know that guy.....he's the one who goes on and on about entrepreneur stuff

    Yeah, the IIPM advertising bugger

    who looks kinda gay IMO

. Apparently, he's quite an orator. Atleast that's what a cousin of mine at Loyola, Chennai said.. Never really liked him though.
