Have tried both VLC and MP classic, no help. Cyberlink keeps prompting for an update and once updated fails to even recognize there's a BD in the drive; only plays DVD and CDs.

Do any of you guys know of a "FREE" Blu-Ray player around? I'm having serious problems with Cyberlink PDVD.

my pc has conked off... it refuses to start.. me thinks it might be a smps failure... but the lan indicator lights up when the mains r turned on, but nothing else works...

Check if the LED on the motherboard is lit. It should ideally be green. Also, try your monitor's power cable on the tower and see if that makes any change. This should isolate if the power cable has a fault or not.

My friend with a quad and 4870 got 5(or 6) and i with my C2D and x1950 got 5(or 6) too. That's the highest you can get.
5.9 is the highest. And 4.9 for a lappy in that range is too good.

But really, you could spend less and get a better desktop here in India which would wipe the floor with all the apps you need to use it for.
+1. Your expectations for a laptop seem to be too high for the price range. As rishi mentioned, a desktop for this price range would be a better choice what with an X58 motherboard and Core i7 proc coming for 28-30k these days.

If you're talking about the image size, as in data, then you need to change the format of the picture. If the current format is *.bmp then you'll have to open the file in MSPaint and save the file as a JPEG. This will bring about a huge change.

I use a 780i SLi and I dont see it as being outdated for another 18 months at the very least. Tri SLi, overclocking capabilities, 1333 MHz support mean that this board (and the 790i) will hold you in good stead for quite a while longer.As Aman said, it makes no sense for me going for the 790i as x58 is just released and it's a brand new tech with a lotta possibilities (talks of DX11 to make use of QPIs). I have a QX9770 (OEM) with me right now but I'm afraid I won't be able to use it. Will try and put it on TP but I don't think anyone would buy it.

If anyone has any info on this is really helpful...
i am using netgear WG311v3 router and netgear wireless card on my PC. from past 2 days the wifi connection drops off... i have re-seated the wifi card on the sys, reinstalled the drivers... but issue is not resolved, i have also re-seated the card on diff PCI slots...but still connection drops off intermittently....chipset drivers has been reinstalled , and BIOS has been flashed!!
has anyone faced this issue? now i am thinking of re-installing OS as a final effort to fix his issue.
Check with wired connection, if the drops happen. Also, do not use the linksys utility to manage your wireless connection, but use windows wireless zero configuration instead. Another system connected wirelessly to your network will also help narrow the issue.
Does anyone know if the new x58 can support a QX9770 processor? The reason I ask is becoz the X58 has eliminated FSB and uses QPI (QuickPath InterConnect). Not sure if a 1600 MHz proc would work on this and I don't want to use an Nforce 790i board as this is outdated now.Any help on this guys??

the best will be 2x 4850 in CF........
easily beats the GTX 260 core 216 and for the same price.........
The problem with either SLI or CF setup for me is that, if at all I think of upgrading the hardware, what would I do with 2 outdated cards? If it was one, I could've managed to sell it, but two is a problem. It's always gonna be the second best card available for me.

hey guys, am using a windows vista basic home edition on the notebook,
is it advisable to switch the DWM.exe off, coz anyways i am not going to get the aero effects on the lappy, the DWM process is using to much system memory, Abt 30-40% for no reason .......as it is mainly designed for premium versions of windows......do let me know u r suggestions
You can go to the command prompt as an administrator and type
" net stop uxsms " and this will disable DWM.
