thks a lot mate for the suggestion.......around 35 gb of space was allocated to system memory and abt 25gb of it was occupied byt it........am in process of deleting these fuking shadow files and resizing its capacity to 4gb......

btw i was just abt to format the HDD when i tried out u r method, saved me a loads of trouble

    thks mate :P

Took a lotta time didn't ya? :P Anyways, glad to have been of help. :D

  2. hey GUYZ need help .. !!

Have Kingston 667 Mhz DDr 2 ram ( 2gb in i stick) .. now i want to go for another 2 gb

    1) if i get another exactly same 667mhz will i be able to put it in dual mode ( my mobo supports it)

    2) if i buy 800mhz kingston will it improve performance or will it bottelneck it !!

WHAT DO U THINK IS THE BEST OPTION FOR ME ?? thnx !

Just go for the 667 MHz modules. The 800 MHz would be automatically downscaled to 667 anyways. With this they should also work in Dual channel.

  3. have a 250gb HD on the lappy, there seems to be around 40gb of HD space already in use by the system........i ve tried isolating the system files abt its just not helping............

the lappy is a compaq-cq45 and has vista basic pre-installed ................

any idea how can i clean up the space?

*i have uninstalled all the major pre bundled software with it and still there is no decrease in GB space

I think VSS (Volume Shadow Service) is enabled on this laptop since it's Vista. Try these steps to see if this is correct.

    1. Run CMD as administrator.

    2. Type " vssadmin list shadowstorage " without the quotes.

    3. See the allocated size. If it is above 3 GB then go to step 4.

    4. Type " vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /For=C: /On=C: /Maxsize=3GB "

Do let us know the results.

  4. I replaced the stock ppsu of my hp pavilion a1310in with an intex 450w psu and also installed 2 gigs of ram. However when i put in an xfx 8600gt into the pci-e slot, the computer doesnt boot. What could the problem be?

Does the card require a power connector? check if the pwr connector is fitted properly..When you say doesn't boot do u mean no power at all or no video at all?

  5. The config of my pc is as follows-

    Quad core 2.4 ghz

    Asus P5QC motherboad

    4 gb ram

    SMPS-coolermaster 550watts

    and i m using windows xp sp3

The problem i am facing is frequent and sudden restarts...Can u help me out wid d solution ...

    Is there a hardware problem?

I have heard heating problems with Quad cores..is that the case?

Two reasons for random restarts would be heat and BSODs. Turn off automatic restart in windows and then if there is a BSOD you would be able to see the error.

  6. I am the recovery console of XP installation cos it says my boot.ini file is missing. It asks me for the admin password and i am pretty sur ei have never given an admin password. What do i do now? My PC fails to boot. Do i just reinstall the whole thing

I hope I'm not too late and that you have not reinstalled OS. To fix this all you have to do is

    1. When it asks you which windows installation do you want to repair? Press "1" and hit enter.

    2. When it asks for password, if there is no password, just press enter.

    3. Then type repair commands such as chkdsk /p; chkdsk /r; fixboot, and fixmbr..

    hope this helps..

  7. i updated the bios but nuthing happened

usb still not worlking and still gettin that pixel movement and slow computer :D

    Which OS?

If you were facing the USB issue before OS reinstall and are still continuing to face it after a BIOS flash, then it is definitely a faulty motherboard. Don't continue wasting your time by trying multiple steps. Just go for motherboard replacement. Once you have the new motherboard, reinstall OS then and check the status.

  8. yeah i installed each and everyone of them

i think i have a bigger screen ,and i have connected it through vga not dvi ,so there might b a problem

they r nvidias i got a icon on tray

so planning to get a graphic crad ,to watch high quality movies

and for drivers i have installed

went to the site downloaded bios update and utilities

there r sum exe file in utilities in rar ,i xxtracted them and tried to rum but a black screen pops up and disappeared ,same thing happened with other two

and the updates were in .rom format i dont know wat to do with that, shud i keep them in sum forder in system files?

    Castiel,

Are you still facing the issues with the USB ports?

Is the system still slow after the OS installation?

You have still not given the complete specifications; we don't know which GPU you've got or if it's onboard.

As for the .ROM files, they are you're bios updates. Please look on the ASUS website, you'll find an utility called EZflash or something. Just follow instructions as to how to flash the BIOS.

  9. i have done a full hdd format but after installing the os (yeah i did a quick format)

except for hd i have everything new like ram motherboard processor

as i said my old snps got faulted and i didnt knew about it for a month so can this b a motherboard fault dew to snps?

so know also u think i shud make a full system format, how do i check cache on processor and data transfer speed bet components?

I'd say it's your motherboard which is acting up. You might wanna try flashing the BIOS for the motherboard, this might help with the USB issues. But if this doesn't fix it, then it's surely a motherboard fault, you need to send it for RMA. You have sufficient RAM and the PSU should be good since it's a coolermaster. Which Proc do u have? Complete system specs would be helpful.

  10. 9800GT=8800GT so the performance will be 15% lower? I dont know, check 8800GT vs 4850 benchmarks although there is one 9800GT which was on sale in the TP which was equal to 4850 in terms of perf..I dont know anything about that card

Go for a 4850, that's your safest bet; apart from the minor issues they have; they hold up pretty good against 9800 GT & GTX 260 as well.

  11. Wassup people,

I'm trying to connect to xbox live through the wireless internet connection on my laptop by hooking up my xbox to the ethernet port on my laptop... if that doesnt make sense hear is a diagram (sort of):

    [XBOX ]<---(ethernet cord)--->[LAPTOP]<---(wireless network)--->[internet]

I would buy a wireless adapter for the xbox, but I spent all my money on the gamez LOL, so I figure maybe I can use my laptop as the wireless adapter.

    can someone help me out?

You can connect the Xbox directly to the wireless router...

  12. What Athek said is correct.. but even if you are getting 2GB 800mhz make sure the timings are same as those of the 667mhz ones otherwise they wont work

I don't think RAM timings cause any issue. The only thing he needs to be worried about is the frequency, which according to me, he can go for the 800 MHz instead, so in future he can upgrade the other two to 800 as well..

  13. Got my system up and running, but now when i boot up my monitor is completely blue, the screen i mean, its like someone placed a piece of blue glass infront of the monitor...white looks grey-ish,red looks black...i chkd the cable and connections...its an LCD so degaussing is out

    what could be the problem!!??

    1. Remove the data cable of the monitor from the tower; you would get a screen saying No signal Cable or something; this is called a Monitor Self Test; check if the issue exists here as well

    2. If issues exists in step 1, then factory reset your monitor. If no go, then issue is defenitely with the monitor. If the issue does not exist then go to step 3.

    3. Check if you see the same problem in BIOS or while in Safe mode as well. If you do see the problem in BIOS, then it's got something to do with your video solution (motherboard or Video card). Try updating BIOS or reseating the video card. If the issue is not see in BIOS, then the issue is definitely driver related. Try reinstalling video drivers.

Try these steps and let us know what's the outcome.

  14. i didnt get that???

u r saying photo print is the printer driver..i just need the printer driver..nothing else..

    Grimmjow,

that is not the printer driver, but only a software which allows to printer to get photo prints.

    M-Jeri,

This is the driver for IP1000, but it is only available for XP, no drivers for Vista are available. Try running this in compatibility mode or try updating the driver from device manager and point the installation to this file your downloading.
