  1. Watched Wanted last night. It's a one-watch time-pass movie. Good over the top stylish action - even makes some Rajni stunts look lame. I could not figure out why Jolie and Morgan Freeman are in the movie. The plot is a bit thin and the finale should've been more stretched out. It suffers the Jumper syndrome - the story has promise but the budget went to finance the action instead of the writers (and people wonder why the WGA went on strike).

PS. Too much gratuitous abusing IMO.

Rating: 3 spent bullets and the one in the barrel from a magazine

  2. Just finished watching WALL.E. It's ... perfect. The movie reminds me of Fantasia a lot because of the music. The trailers do not do justice to the movie - it doesn't even give an idea of what the movie is about.

In today's time a movie which relies little on the spoken word but uses music as the medium is a hard sell - but it's undeniably charming. Wall.E is funny without being campy, the story is very good. There's a tempo to the movie which builds up. The first 30 minutes might seem a bit stretched out after seeing the whole movie, but it's all good. Remember the lengthy cavemen scene in 2001 - well, similar reasons require the first 30 minutes to be there.

And the animation - it's Pixar - enough said.

I am not going to post any information about the story because it might lead you astray. Just watch it.

The obvious comparison is Dark Knight - but the two movies are so so different. It's like comparing Sheek Kabab (at Samarkand) versus Hot Chocolate Fudge (at Nirula) - they are the best of their kind but there's no comparison.

  3. Thats odd. I've got word that its quite average and doesn't come anywhere near the first film. In short, visually brilliant but lacking in other aspects. Not that I believed the heathens. lol. So its as good as part 1 yes?

It's a definite watch. I think Rottentomatoes has a 88% rating - pretty high. So here's the difference between part 1 and 2 - it's like the difference between the conspiracy storyline and Monster-of-the-week storyline in the X-files series. Part 1 was about the identity of Hellboy, Part 2 is more like the BPRD comics where the BPRD go and kick supernatural a*s all over the place.

  4. ^^ the grating voice which he puts on for Batman? I know what you mean. But apparently it is done to differentiate his voice from Bruce. So it fits in and is fine I guess. Let's face it - Batman is not the verbose type and it's is his dichotomy with Bruce's character which draws the crowds and the shrinks.

I actually wanted to pick up this book called the Psychology of Batman this time (Barnes & Noble) but the price baulked me. The first chapter is "Why doesn't Batman kill the Joker?"
