  1. Just came back from watching the Star Trek movie, and I was impressed at how much actor Chris Pine looks like a young William Shatner. Out of all the new cast-members, he particularly had the most resemblance to the original cast-member. John Cho from Harold & Kumar played Sulu.

Overall, it was good and had a lot of action. But you'll have to be prepared to accept the new story universe it opens up.

  2. Can't be 18th or 19th century if they're flying around in ultra-modern helicopter/osprey type personal flying craft. Looks pretty 21st century (yeah, India's still going to have plenty of slums for much of this century)

  3. Yes, it's another new animated Ramayana movie, by Maya Entertainment:

Looks pretty good, and has a hip sound. At this rate, you'll have to add a separate bookshelf just for all the Ramayana movies. Everybody has their digital Valmik ready to push out a story.

They'll have to add a special Ramayana category at the Oscars. :P

  4. Errr....What do you mean by that? The film is titled ONG BAK 2 & it's not the marketing people who are pushing this title. People used to confuse Tom Yum Goong for ONG BAK 2 but it wasn't ONG BAK 2. This movie is ONG BAK 2 & even though it doesn't share any co-relation to it's predecessor, doesn't deny the fact that it's title still stays the same.

Ah, my mistake - I thought he was talking about Tom Yum Goong, which is what I saw a couple of years back.

I didn't realize there was an official Ong Bak 2.

Damn, I better go searching for it then.

EDIT: Okay, just saw the trailer on youtube, and it doesn't look as good to me as the first one.

He's doing the elephant thing again, which reminds me of Tom Yum Goong. I liked the character from the original, and would have preferred if they'd done another story with him. This looks like another medieval country fighting thing, which bores me.

  5. guys see ong bak 2!!! tony jaa's back

That wasn't really Ong Baak 2, even though it had the same 2 guys, and was made in a similar spirit.

It's just the marketing people who called it Ong Baak 2.

Did you see District 13? (original French title "Banlieue 13")

Now that had some great action, by some true action artists. Akshay seems to have tried to latch onto that, but of course he doesn't measure up.

I'm really waiting for the sequel to that. It'll be hard to top the first one, of course.
