  1. Why not fine players for wasting time on the ball during the dying minutes too ... I think that's an even more criminal act than what happened here. It ruins the opponents chance of scoring a goal even if the other team has possession and forces time wasting as well. But then again someone has to take the fall here and the fine will sort it out. Personally, I think its brilliant and should be left alone as a marker for how to ensure your prime players are ready for your bigger games.

  2. UEFA are mad here. Even if a team were to do what Jose did there's nothing wrong in it is there? There are yellow and red cards for these offences and they were handed out. So what if they slowed the game and so what if they did it for their own benefit. Next there will be a rule that states that a team can't play defensive football for more than 5 minutes in a game at a stretch or that substitutions can only happen after 45 minutes. Total rubbish.

  3. that Pan - Barca game last night was really good. I don't know why Villa was playing a muppet on the pitch but then again he has a lot to live upto at Barca. He's not the go-to man anymore but atleast he might win more trophies.

@Avi: Yeah when I saw him I was wishing the same [Luis Garcia that is]

  4. I'd say get him and ship off N'gog leaving Pacheco to grow in easy games or with Europa exposure if required. We are already a midfielder down, an influential one too, and ... we need someone to change our top line game and offer attacks from either side. Maybe, if he does come to Liverpool, highly unlikely unless Roy sees him in his master plan, then we might have better attack options at the top. But, I don't think he'll stay in the PL anymore and find greener pastures in Italy.

  5. If Ancellotti goes, who will come in?

I vote Rafa lol and I really mean that. If there's one man out there who doesn't care what upper management says and can say things that will make Roman go "EH?" along with the rest of the football universe its our very own garden variety Rafa Benitez.

  6. I think its all the internal politics that Roman is playing over there. I mean name one 'good' manager who would want to go to a club and play technical director without any total team control? SAF has the nicest job out of them all, I'd say even better than Wenger in some aspects because everyone at OT listens to him. It's sad that Ancelotti is even thinking of leaving because this is when the club needs him and the players to stick together the most. They can still make this season work in their favor and I am not even a Chelski fan. On another brighter note .... 3 - 0 .... about f'ing time and Gerrard was absent too. I really think we play harder when we know we have something to prove and this is just the first one. Now onto the bigger test ... Tottenham.

  7. I am predicting a big shocker in the Arsenal game although I would like to see Arsenal win this one and Chelsea win too. Yes I have checked my body temperature and I am not sick lol. Also, the loss of Gerrard shouldn't make a difference today as like I have said before, we do better under pressure and this is going to be one of those days which will make Roy smile.

  8. I can't understand why all these punks are peaking now and all these countries are starting to do well post the WC :(. Has anyone seen's Fergie's comment on having the unfulfilled dream of coaching Barca? I personally don't think he'd be a good fit for the club because its a very unique style of play that requires individuals who cater to it and not a change in the kind of system played across other leagues but thats just me. He's a great manager just not someone you'd see flourish in La Liga.

  9. Portugal have never really had a prolific striker or forward since Eusebio. Thats the one area they have always always always struggled. To say Pauleta has been their best forward since the legend, is almost scary to think of how poor their forward line-up is. Its not that Pauleta is a poor player, its just Ive never seen him as someone of International repute who can threaten defences. This will continue, I feel. Portugal is one of those teams who dont have that last bit between their teeth to go on to win.

Besides, with Querioz incharge they wouldnt have won anything. One of the worst managers Ive seen. Glad hes out.

    +1

They have had stellar midfields and some good defensive players too but when it comes to attack presence they just fizzle. Its the midfield and wingers that create the chances and the attackers usually just plop them in. Its quite sad because when you have that many good midfielders you have to wonder why their academies don't produce better strikers.
