  1. As probably the only Portugal supported at the WC I can only say that they always had the potential and they just got complacent towards the later stages of the tourney. Ronaldo has ever right to be pissed and what in the world was Nani thinking even getting in there. I'd just say look its already past the defender and all it has to do is fall to the ground. Instead, the C#NT decided to get in the play and ruin what would have been a super goal. I hate Ronaldo otherwise but as a player his goal-scoring has been on the backburner for his country and this would have helped. Spain will go back now and regroup that's all they can really do. I'd love to see Portugal lift the cup in my life-time because the team that should have done it got a raping with the likes of Rui Costa, Luis Figo, Nuno Gomes, etc. That was and still is the Golden-Era Portugal team.

  2. Damn this thread reminds me again that i am a relic.

Try watching the Mexico world cup a month later with your dad for the second time because he missed it [my uncle taped it all on VHS!!!!] and you had to keep quiet while he watched. I so wanted to scream and I was only 6 at the time. My mom said I kept running to the screen and screaming goal like a little lunatic. Kind of explains why I do jigs when we score now ... hmmmm

I'll take that walking stick from you now kind sir.

One of those stellar moments. You really have to feel for the Dutch sometimes.

  3. So, I've got my LCD all set-up and the first game I played was Heavy Rain......... It looked stunning....... Very very stunning.....!!!!!! I am totally speechless......

But I've got a question about the sound....... Why is it that some videos and games' (GTA IV) sounds are soooooooo low........ I had to play GTA IV with full-volume and then I was able to hear things properly, but still on the lower side....... :( But all other videos and games sounded better than ever........ Am I doing something wrong with the settings or something........??????

As mentioned before there is a clear-voice setting that u can use to get the most out of the sound. Getting a separate sound system will help immensely with the sound experience but considering your doing down-payments for ur tele id wait :). Congrats on the purchase btw.

  4. So someone else started this Football Fan thread and it got me thinking. What actually made you choose the club your with ? I remember it was [1990] when I chose LFC and it was because my dad said they were good at the time. Of course he's a big Ajax and AC Milan fan but I just couldn't see myself getting hooked on them it was something about Liverpool way back then. That and the fact that my only football friend in building was from Liverpool at the time and he thought they were the cats pants as well.

  5. whoa !! Ibra. nice nice game there. always liked the guy (even for his cranky nature). good to see AC having something nice happening for them.

as for best players, well one that i have seen is Lampard (consistency thy name is lampard) and other is Ronaldo (original- brazillian) that stand out for me.

I will always remember Ronaldo for both his Barca years [What a fantastic team] and then the Internatzionale times ... he was a shadow of what he was when he first came over to barca when he came to Real.

  6. Ibra seals victory for AC milan . Ac go top .

Inter 6 points off the top.

Looks like someone made a good move out of La Liga. The sad thing about this guy though is that when it comes to International performances, he just goes dull and I don't really like him because he's a team-firestarter. Always picking fights tsk tsk tsk.

  7. Ivanovic should have been sent off, it was clear obstruction on the path to goal. Zenden ... you little terrier! and that goal :O totally deserved for Sunderland. They have chased more, played harder and created some very good chances, imo, it should be 0 - 3 but Ancelotti has his work cut out now.

P.S. Tim Cahill is a clutch player that anyone could use. I don't see why other teams haven't tried to sign him up.

  8. Liverpool ... sigh and Bale ... YAY! I haven't been on FPL in weeks and on Thursday I went in and just tried to re-arrange the team and said i'll leave Bale in there something good will come of it and voila!

@Avishkar: The long ball game totally murdered us and they pressured and pressed much harder than we were in the first half. Somewhere towards the middle of the second half we looked like we were making headway till they started pressing again and by then it was too late. I don't know why SG even tried to float that ball up because there was so much real-estate between him and the next defender that he could have threaded water and looked for a more concrete pass but that just put the nail in the coffin. Roy was totally cheesed off and u just know that he gave it to the players later on. Lucas was in top form [foul-wise] yesterday and at the end, he could have avoided his own special brand of muppetry but now he's red-carded and people still think hes a good player ... rubbish.

  9. Add to the fact that Joachim Low is experimenting with a totally young side of professionals in their new friendlies. The man has a philosophy that follows the fact that experience can only matter so much until skill comes into picture. If only Capello learned a lesson and if England got their act together and actually started supporting the youth system. Germans like keeping their players at home and will do almost anything to ensure they all play in the same league. I remember SAF saying they have a shorter season and this and that but at the end of the day WTF does SAF know about international football from a coaching perspective. We could all say that him and Jose would be stellar as coaches for national teams but who knows till they go there. The options aren't as varied as club football and you really have to do with what you have. Germany for the next Euro? lol

  10. No lampard and no Essien for next three fixtures... How awesome...

Time to show some character is all im going to say. Yesterday, a friend and me were talking about how the youth system in the Netherlands isn't really working anymore and it got me thinking. Who has the best youth system now? I am inclined to say Germany because theirs showed the most promise and delivered very good results at the World Cup.

  11. yes we were bad yesterday. Although with all due credit the first 20 minutes were pretty good. If only we had capitalized with Konchesky and Gerrard and if Jonjo had made more chances in the later stages of the second half we would have been 2 - 1 with a win. Even Gerrard's effort that hit the cross-bar could have been a goal but that's how the dice roll. Onto Stoke!!!

  12. Rafael would have got his a*s kicked if it were a street fight!

Tevez would have chewed his face off. For some reason Tevez reminds me of Lou Ferigno aka old school incredible hulk and Wilkins... WTF happened there? We should have scored twice last night and we were denied once by the post ... now Roy will call a press conference and apologize but its good that he didn't make a meal of the victory streak otherwise we would have been in a fix. Stoke City is next and I really feel we can run them ragged if we don't take any kind of confidence lapse from yesterday's game.

  13. I hope my cable guy gets home by 7pm and sets it up. Not having the tele on for this really is quite a bummer. I am looking forward to watching Tevez back in action again because we all know how much he loves the theatrics when it comes to playing against his former club.

  14. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2010/11/09/2204998/new-manchester-united-signing-mats-moller-daehli-is-a-little-bit-?sms_ss=facebook&at_xt=4cd97212abffed0a%2C0

I know its goal.com, but what really amazes me is the tagline, "little bit of Xavi and a little bit of Messi" that has been slapped across the face of this young lad... I'm mean he just turned 15 and he is already tagged as a combo of Xavi & Messi... Imagine the pressure mounted on him.. poor media doesn't understand the implications of such antics...

    +1

The media just needs a reason to start a fire and this is their way of doing it. They don't care if you arent what they claim you are as long as people read and promote their articles.

  15. what is eating us up the most is the injury for Yossi benayoun. I dont get it why people dont rate him much but i have always liked him. good solid player with an eye for killer passes. He was supposed to fill in for lamps and he would have served us really well at against pool, i dont think we'd lost if yossi were there. ramires, mikel, zhirkov is a midfield lacking creativity big time.

lampsy and yossi are our main creative players, losing both of them together has really done us in :(

IMO we were foolish to unload him because he really knows how to position himself well to create opportunities in front of the net. He is one of the most unselfish players I know because he is always looking around to see who he can push up with a pass and he works equally hard to push himself into slots causing defensive lapses.

P.S. I hate Glen Johnson as a RB when I really think hes an RM. He doesn't possess enough tactical awareness to offer defensive cover to the CBs when the ball is played back. Point-in-case ... Napoli ... When Poulsen reverse headed the ball, Carra ran up to cover the slot leaving a gap open for the attackers to exploit. Instead of playing inwards, Glen ran outwards making the gap wider and thus allowing a run around the side that did us in with a ball past Reina. And leaving aside his lack of positional awareness, he doesn't track back fast enough for my liking and for that matter for most people that expect a RB to be shielding the wings of a defensive unit from attacks. I say push him up the pitch and try and mould him in a RDM or an RM and that way we might get the best out of him yet. I'd say he's miles ahead of Poulsen when it comes to offering attack depth but that's just me.
