  1. Good performance today and glad we didn't lose although both goals were a spot of luck. However, the second half send-off for B should have come a lot sooner than it did. We created good chances today but it was the same case against Norwich and United as well and the result was exactly the same. We don't have a controller in the middle and I think Henderson tried to do a little too much on the sides today when he really should have kept his game simple and to-the-fing-point. The smaller teams are drawing with us at home and so are the bigger ones. This is what will come back to bite us in the rear when the season is over and we hopefully get that Europa spot that I hope we do.

However, team morale is high and if we can play the same way we did today against the smaller teams then things will start looking up for us. This weekend was a golden chance to make some progress up the table but a draw is better than a possible loss for us at this stage of the season. Plenty of more games to come and I sincerely hope we rectify our home game performances by starting to convert these draws into wins.

  2. Best goal of the CL this week was The Prince Turn. Sadly, we may never see that from Kevin ever again but was it ever entertaining.

While I like the fact that he is talking about money and how it was a toy for the Sheikh, I don't think it was the time or place to show any form of arrogance. That's the job for the club zealots and not for someone at that level in the clubs hierarchy. Then again it is Soccernet so you never really know what is true and what isn't.

Nice article to read as well - http://soccernet.espn.go.com/feature/_/id/981992/football's-greatest-club-teams?cc=4716

  3. At Anfield :O

Theyd be lucky to escape with a point .

Mancini has never done well at Anfield even his all conquering Inter team were outclassed 2-0 by us and I believe Anfield will be Rocking on Sunday and if we have Stevie G back I believe we will win.

Don't look so bewildered hehe. I personally don't think we have what it takes to contain wing attacks from a defensive perspective but that's just me and I fear a lot of running in the wrong directions. It happened with Tottenham, Norwich zapped us the same way and I get the feeling that City will do it too.

P.S. Its at home where we have had terrible luck and elsewhere that we've done so much better this season.

  4. Yeah. I wonder what happened to the wing-attack play and Berbatov missing a very good chance. But its okay because the next game against Basel shouldn't really be too tough and the team will be a better and far better lineup than you'll had today anyways.

Still, Aimar was all around the pitch today and he was creating cross passes very well when they got forward.

  5. hehe. I only say this because now the second half starts and while I feel that United are getting the steam back, the Benfica coach will probably lay down the fact that they need to squeeze everyone in the midfield to the point where the ball losses start getting more frequent.

  6. no.Cant believe they are not showing Napoli vs ManC  The only game tonight to look forward 2 is not shown and Lille and Villareal games are shown

Umm Villareal is playing Bayern why wouldn't that be worth a watch considering what happened in the last game that Bayern played before the international friendlies?

  7. If Lucas had a better distributive range I'd rank him higher but the problem is that he is also a close-quarter player. I expected a much better partnership between him and Charlie or even Steven but they force the wider play so often and his long pass is next to non-existent. With the heavy investment in a faster wing system at Anfield the midfield system going from the back needs to capitalize on open slots on the wings for the opposition and that has not happened from a defense-to-attack play at all this season. Everything happens inside the opponents half line and if they can even fix that we might see better penetrative play and possibly more goals.

Btw, is Anelka thinking about a move to Asia in January? I think its superb

  8. I like those stats but it doesn't help the game conversion rate. We are still the numero uno team that loses from a winning position this season in the Prem and while we might have a good CDM that doesn't help when defenders are still plagued with an improper holding system at the back. I don't even see how chasing people like Cisokho makes any sense when the middle of the back-line needs an experienced person to keep the line together. Jamie is good but he is past his time and that is the part of the pitch we need someone in just as much as we need a CAM right now.

  9. I'll go on record to state that Andy's problem with drinking is probably a major factor in his poor form right now. Although most players in the game are a lot more controlled today than they were in the early 80s going towards the turn on the century. I wouldn't say stop drinking but if it turns into a problem like Gazza's it needed stricter mentoring and he never got that which is why he fizzled.

  10. Chelsea fans are going though what we went through last season but the real question is what do they do now? If Gus comes back to do some kind of patch work it will get them through this season but the damage will be far higher in the next season imho.

And is it just me or are the smaller teams/newly promoted teams doing better defensively in this first half of the season?
