  1. ^^ I thought Jackie brown was dire. It did the worst crime any film can ever commit : It bored me. And AFAIK QT barely touched Sin city. All he directed was two small segments, so if anyone should get the credit for that it should be Rodriguez.

Death proof was just QT masturbating on a script. I have never, ever seen a film thats so far up its own a*s. And if you really love a core plot/central theme then I am willing to bet money you will actually hate Death proof. True love (which he wrote) was another horrible example of a writer thats too much in love with himself.

PF and RD was as close as he came to making truly great cinema. Kill bill was the runner up.

  2. I think we disagree on what excellent is. To me "brilliant" or "excellent" is an 8 or a 9 out of ten. A 6 or a 7 out of 10 is a merely decent, watchable film e.g. I am Legend.

Everything in QT's career since PF has been a downward slide. The two Kill bill films were an exception but aside from that I doubt he will do anything as good as Reservoir dogs or PF again.

Rest of that is fair enough I guess. Different people different tastes.

  3. I dont think you are going to find a decent AGP card in the market locally nowadays. At least not one that would be a decent improvement on the 6600. I couldnt find one in Nehru place when i was looking for a friend. If you are lucky you can get your hands on a 7600GT but thats hardly worth the money you will spend. My advice is to save up some money and change the mobo and GPU in one go. You could get a decent combo in about 6-7k.

  4. Saw Transformers 2. Really enjoyed it.

The script could have used some polish though, most of it seemed pretty cliched and cheesy. And a lot of attempts to be funny just came across as cringe-worthy. But still it worked mostly because of some excellent CGI and some brilliant action bits. Not as good as T4 but still quite fun.

Oh and LOL @ the "black" robot twins who cant read. Way to perpetuate the stereotype there Michael.

  5. ^^Wait till you get tot season 3 of Dexter. Amazing television.

By the way, Jeremy Piven (who plays Ari gold) is starring in a new movie "The goods: sell hard, live hard" as a car salesman (basicallly doing the same schtick as Ari gold). Check out the trailer, its looks fantastic.

Anyway to fill the TV void for the moment, I have started re-watching Blackadder and some Mr Bean. Rowan Atkinson rules!

  6. PC version to be delayed?

"Unfortunately all I can say at this point is that we're focusing all our efforts on the 360 version and will be making comments in regards to the PC at a later time," writes MarkusRMD - presumably Markus Maki, head of development - on the Alan Wake forum.

    :(

So what will it be? Crappy port or delayed version. :wallbash:

  7. Ban me, why?

    Bah! little chick-let

Anywho, the game seems interesting, apart from the EPIC years in development and the improved rendering with every trailer.

    Remedy now!

    Are you...... communicating in haikus?

  8. Doobz if the 4570 is the only thing in your budget it is worth a look. It will play most stuff at meduim detials and some stuff at high Check this out.

Dont count on upgrading a laptop graphics card later. Like Shantz says some components are upgradable but GPUs dont have much of an option when it comes to an upgrade.

  9. Saw Ice age 3. Not bad, not great either. As usual Sid the sloth was my favourite by far. Also lovely deja vu moment with John Leguizamo dancing to "Everybody kill the Dinosaur".

My niece though, enjoyed the hell out of it. Probably due to those cute, cuddly characters.

  10. @Afty: Well..

If any game deserved to be like GTA, it was Alan Wake. I don't think there has ever been an open-world survival-horror game. It would have been great driving around and talking to people during the day, and then have night kick in, with stores closing and people getting off the streets. Sigh..

If it works properly then sure by all means put it in. But if the developers can see that linearity would make a better experience then I am thankful they have enough guts to scrap the open world idea and start over (even if it means long delays) instead of handing us a game where you are walking back and forth 40% of the time (like PoP, FC2 etc) in a dead, boring landscape.

Shoving an open world just for the sake of a bullet point only leads to game lengthening backtracking. I would rather they cut the fat out and just leave us the fun parts.
