  1. Yeah all the goodwill of Aliens and Terminator is long spent with all the other self indulgent crap he made. And lets not forget True lies or Titanic.

    /Cynical mode on

Here is what I get from the trailer. Disabled guy gets a brain transplant to an Alien body so us filthy, raping, pillaging humans can do something horribly evil to a pure, sweet, innocent race. He then sees that all humans are shitty and all aliens are made of pure pixie dust and switches sides. A huge battle happens in the climax which ends one of two ways.

1 The aliens triumph, humans leave them alone and we get a ham fisted not so subtle political statement shoved down our throat.

2 The aliens loose and the end is all "weepy and sad" so Cameroon can try to shove it down the throat of Oscar judges.

    /Cynical mode off.

Like I said, I will still see it but the reasons to see it are the same ones I have for wanting to see 2012.

Oh come on, i agree Titanic and True Lies may have been self indulgent, but they weren't bad movies per se, were they?

And your cynical mode needs recalibrating :ack: All fiction becomes cliched sooner or later. The point is how well made and heartfelt they are. I think (or rather hope) Avatar will be very good indeed.

  3. 5 Real Life heroes who make Rambo look like a pussy

awesome read.. From Cracked so might be mostly fabrigated but the hav a INDIAN WAR HERO too from 99 Kargil war.

Surprisingly most of Cracked.com's stuff is pretty well researched. They might get some facts wrong or pass some questionable information as fact but generally they dont out and out fabricate stuff.

Probably my favourate time pass site.

No. 1 on that list is the guy who serves as inspiration to one of the main characters in Inglourious Basterds! His story is one of the main plot-points in the film!

  4. New details of The Last Guardian in September

Good news for the Playstation 3 fans who are waiting on The Last Guardian, the third game from the team that was responsible for ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.

In the September issue of the Official Playstation Magazine more details will be revealed. A little bit of the information has been leaked out and this is what we now know:

The game will be the first to make use of a physics engine. The feathers of Trico (the "monster" that is a crossover of a dog and bird) will react independently on the environment.

The creature will also at first be hostile to the main character. Eventually you can build a real friendship with it and persuade it to help you solve some puzzles.

Overtime, the boy will use the creature to solve platforming puzzles, but the creature is alive and acts naturally, as if it were a real animal. Persuading it to do what you need will take patience and guile, not force.

If they can deliver the same quality as the two prequels on the Playstation 2, then we can start talking about a new classic :)

And they you'll have to kill it in the end.

I'm taking bets. Who's putting money on you having to off the birdy when it gets too big for its own good?

  5. Which is why I guess it didn't get very good ratings.

    69 Metascore

There will always be people who fall asleep or find it boring. You can't help them.

IMDB has an 8.7 score from 19K votes, putting it at #28 in the top 250. But then you can never trust IMDB. The public will vote up anything remotely decent.

  6. With the exception of Kill Bill Volume 1, all his movies have been about the talking. If the script is good enough it should hold my attention.

Yup. And this is as good as he's ever been. He seems to know it too, as there is a tiny but surreal breaking the fourth wall moment at the end of the film where he says as much
