OMFG!!!!
I HAVE HOPE!!!
both for District 9 and GI.JOE!!
You may want to strike GI Joe off your list

District 9 is CLASS, though. Watch the near-end sequence and tell me you don't get the shivers. Stupid Microsoft

-
I haven't finished FMA yet

-
So neither of you have seen the movies then?
-
IIRC, just the ending (in which case, I think the anime nailed it better)
Haven't seen the anime or the films. Is it worth a watch?
-
/in before the tifosi bawling begins

-
Sounds awful.
I don't get it. The trailer looked fun.. :|
-
Peter Jackson - low budget. Does not compute. I saw the trailer, but is it really that low budget?I think this one was made on a very tight budget. After the Halo fiasco, Jackson put in his own money to get this movie done with the director
Low budget perhaps, or atleast when compared to major Hollywood films

But seriously, they needed some in city shots. And don't forget PJ owns WETA Digital as well. A couple extra shots wouldn't have killed him.
Nope, his diet should take care of the killing on it's own

Edit: Expect violence. LOTS N LOTS OF GLORIOUS IN YOUR FACE VIOLENCE

Tough
Where'd you lose it? -
^^ so its the procuring route then .. :'(
Wait for a good version for the love of God. The detail on the props/expressions is what sells the illusion so well.
On the movie. I can count a half dozen instances of plot flaws/inconsistencies/amateur acting off the top of my head, but damnit you just won't care, it's just that good. I just wish they were a bit more prudent in how they used their monies, because there were a lot more fx shots they could have thrown in to convey a sense of scale. Jo'burg (the city) isn't used very much, for one.

went to a GI Joe screening last night.
I'm suing for a full refund + psychiatric expenses + damages for the two hours of my life that I'll never get back.
ROFLMAO. So the reviews are true. And you got into an advance as well? What a coincidence.

According to sources speaking with film site IESB, talent agency CAA and "studio executives," Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg is in talks to oversee the production of a new Halo movie.
IESB say Spielberg has been "blown away" by Stuart Beattie's screenplay, which as we know deals with a kid called John. Oh, and some aliens as well, along with a little shooting.
IESB also point out that having lost Transformers, Dreamworks (having recently split from their distribution deal with Paramount) will be looking to gain a replacement "tentpole" action series, and Halo - which has been abandoned by Peter Jackson and Neil Blomkamp - fits the bill perfectly.
Apparently CAA, who list Spielberg as a client, have the director in "active negotiations" to produce the movie. So please, make note of this. He's rumoured to be in talks to produce the movie, not direct it.
Sounds crazy, but then, five years ago how many of you would have picked that Spielberg would produce a Transformers movie?
We have contacted Microsoft and will update if the company comments.
Microsoft are AAA morons for scuttling the Jackson/Blomkamp version. Now we'll get a big budget TF2-alike instead of something like District 9/Starship Troopers or Blomkamps Halo short. What a missed opportunity..

That's awesome!
And I choose to be completely spoiler-free until I watch the movie. The less I know, the better!
Ah, and that's where my patented spoiler-free info comes in.
You most definitely will be going in spoiler-free because the trailers don't give away the most important plot-point of them all!
-
Next weekend, baby

Not a question, but I can tell you that you will not be disappointed

-
Alright, Just watched District 9. Advance Screening.
Short Review:

I'll be happy to answer spoiler-free general questions if anyone has any.

Series - IMO Series is much better than the movies. Saw Trust and Betrayal - it's brilliant. But it somehow misses on the charm of the anime / manga. I love the combo of insane fights + seriousness + romance + comedy (esp. the wonky comedy).
How is Full Metal Alchemist and Bleach?
The series was great. The only reason I don't have it in my collection is because there are way too many episodes. That said, I can't get enough of the movie either. Wins over the series by a whisker, especially because of the higher quality animation. Best being the lovely real life and animated composite shots of rural Japan.
Bleach doesn't appeal to me. FMA on the other hand, is BRILLIANT. Perfect blend of comedy, action and intricate story. You can pick up both seasons for pretty cheap if you buy at the right time. They come with a nice collection of companion booklets with art, character profiles and other randomness. This is the R1 release, btw. I think the R2 editions are a bit more expensive.

@keyo and phoenix: can you suggest me some scifi anime series/movies preferably cyberpunk not mecha .. have seen GITS series and movies , have read and watched akira , loved the anime shorts in animatrix specially the second Renaissance parts, So now you have an idea wat I am looking for , any scfi except mecha genre.
Leaving mecha out narrows down your options quite a bit. Even GitS is mecha, in a way.
Lain is really good. Unfortunately I haven't seen the others that Keez and PW suggested.
Which could mean one of two things

-
Rurouni Kenshin

rarely seen a cartoon with such good music
Series or movie?
-
LOL @ the Matrix 'discussion'. ALL THREE were VERY fun.
Why even bother seriously dissecting something so over the top? What next, Crank 2 hate?
Gemma Arterton!FIXED.
-
The Matrix taught me that the best course of action when faced with total annihilation of everyone on Earth is to have a sweaty rave party \m/
HEARRR MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
-
2012 and District 9 - both the trailers

MY. GOD.

Is the whole 2012 film one big FX shot?

-
^^ LOL. Someone REALLY needs to do a M.A.S.K. film.
