  1. Yep, similar to how everyone suddenly has QLED models now. Lot of other factors at play with these TVs though, including the number of dimming zones. A low number might mean low quality, similar to a lower price FALD panel. Plus these locally manufactured TCL TVs are generally pretty bad quality. HDR doesn’t work and the picture quality is basic. Maybe they’ll improve things this year :/
  2. Hopefully a good sign for that perfect dark game they’re making, lol.
  3. To be fair, Snyder only directed MoS. Nolan and David Goyer wrote and produced, so a lot of it was their Batman experiences carrying over - which is why WB wanted them on it in the first place.
  4. 1) So you're saying services of the same type can't co-exist? Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV+, etc. are all on multiple owned platforms together. This is what I meant by the current state of these gaming services lacking maturity. It'll take some time to sort relationships out and for the public to really understand what's happening. 2) Revenue sharing is tricky. I'm really interested in what happens with Epic vs. Apple. 30% seems extremely high, imho. 3) Agreed. That's the current state, but that's because gaming-as-a-service isn't as mature as OTT, for instance. The Fire Sticks were super picky with app availability in the early days too, but a lot of that got sorted out in the end. Heck, they didn't even have YouTube because of beef with Google Exclusivity to the game pass app, while could (in theory, in future) be available on multiple platforms. Don't miss the finer details. Point taken on them releasing games on the PlayStation Store instead, but why would a for-profit company do that and share revenue? A parallel would be Netflix putting Stranger Things on other platforms. Why would you do that with your cash cow franchises? You make a fair point on Steam, though. And I agree with you on the near term goals being to try and sell more hardware. It'll take some time to get game pass adoption up (if it even happens to the degree they want it to). But those are near-term goals. The real end-game is to not be tied to hardware at all. Most companies think years ahead with strategy. And remember that just because MS is first off the block means they win. Kodak had digital cameras and Nokia had smart phones early on. Those didn't amount to much. It's a business decision, and how content in general in moving. It's why Blockbuster filed for bankruptcy, Netflix stopped selling mail-order rental DVDs, and everyone moved to streaming video over physical and software-as-a-service over buying boxed software at Target. Industries change. MS just took the first step here. Again, these games are exclusive to game pass, not Xbox. In an ideal future world, you will be able to play these games on any device, just like you can watch Netflix or Apple TV+ on any device. This is future state, though.
  5. Yea, that's a real highlight of his. The Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen intro credits are super re-watchable.
  6. I get your line of thought, but by that logic, you wouldn't have Netflix or Apple TV on a Fire Stick. Keep in mind Apple makes their own hardware. The OTT market is at least a year or two ahead of gaming as far as ecosystem maturity goes, mind you. They've had the time to work out some of the basic issues you bring up, but they did at least start taking some positive strides in the end. These evolutions aren't quick or easy, which is why we have the ongoing Epic litigation. This will evolve and play out the same way the OTT and SaaS battles have. Where the rubber will need to actually hit the road is when MS has to put up a Sony app on their store, just like they're nudging Sony and Nintendo to do now. I don't think they care either way at the moment, honestly. They're probably trying to hit TVs and mobile devices more than anything. That's an easier battle. Again, there is no *traditional* exclusivity policy, as much as Apple-produced shows such as Servant or For All Mankind are exclusive to Apple Devices. They are not. This is an old school of thought, and the world is moving on. Edit: And this is just me just clarifying the business angle. I own all devices and don't see the need to defend public corporations on the interweb. Unless they pay me
  7. I loved Sucker Punch, lol. BvS was super mediocre though, which is kind of a bad sign considering JL is a direct follow up. I'd say his best works were probably Dawn of the Dead, Sucker Punch, Watchmen, and Man of Steel. Zak Snyder blu rays are excellent value as well, if anyone's interested. The man puts a lot of effort into curating excellent extra content.
  8. Sorry, this isn't true. It's more nuanced than that. What they're saying is that all games will be available on all platforms that have game pass (from what I remember quickly reading yesterday). What people here need to realize is that the world has moved on to content-as-a-service models of delivery that are platform agnostic. Think Netflix or Apple TV available on every platform imaginable, or Office 365 on the App Store. Some platform holders still try to block apps or try and maintain other forms of control, though (HBO Max not being universally available is just one example). So, in theory, if the PlayStation and Nintendo app store allowed Game Pass in, there's no reason why subscribers couldn't play all Xbox games without actually owning an Xbox. This is the end game. Uh, cool?
  9. I mean, most people have both consoles here. And enjoying both equally, mind you. This 2013 console war stuff is like re-watching a bad TV show Edit: Date fixed for when the Xbox one/PS4 actually launched, which was peak troll season
  10. BC is always a funny thing. People are very vocal about it online, but the actual usage numbers might not back it up. That must be why MS has mostly given up on it too, and they pumped a LOT of money in and gave it sufficient time to show results.
  11. Kinda felt the same way, man. Too much of the same thing, even though it’s short. The fights at the end of game were crazy annoying. Stick with it for the story. Not as good as the first, but it’s alright.
  12. So, so good!! How long did it take to build this up? And this needs to go on ResetEra!
  13. 1.18 is a bargain. Congrats! And smart thinking factoring the next change in. My pre-OLED 55" LED lasted me exactly 4.5 years before I got the itch.
  14. I thought the races were alright once we had a full set of 12 humans
  15. So 5v5 then? That should be fun I wouldn't mind co-oping the campaign too!
  16. Damn, that was fast How long did it take you and at what difficulty? Hopefully there's an time counter.
  17. Not too surprising considering 2K20 was on it for ages. Will be cool to see all the next gen bells and whistles, though
