  1. @D33P@K/..Ne0..

Yea, read those reviews when I was looking around for reviews of previous guides. It comes with the territory though. These guides are made using a pre-gold master copy of the game. Changes are always possible. And with a game of GTA4's scope, the guide would have to start being worked on months in advance, by which time entire features could have been removed or changed.

  2. wowowow there. Spending 13 USD on something you can get for free on gamefaqs/ign/gamespot is kind of silly, I agree. This isn't my first game guide; would you believe I bought one for the original Tomb Raider for instance? And I don't expect it to help me through the game either. All I'm looking for is something GTA4 to flip through.

Lets put it this way, if there was a coffee table book on GTA/GTA4 (like Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar), I'd have bought that instead.

  3. Are you telling me I can sit on a park bench in Bangalore and witness a multi car pileup in all its explosive glory? Or random car-jackings/arrests/turf wars etc? Cubbon park is it?

But just adding the option to sit down always gets me. Mercenaries and Fahrenheit come to mind.

  4. @cody: It may be possible, although I doubt they'll bother. I guess it didn't make the final feature set for a reason.

You know, I'd probably walk around and take in the atmosphere more if I could listen to music while doing it. I really hope we can sit on park benches. I love sitting in games. LOL.

  5. One thing that has been established from previews is that Niko starts with Romans old phone and the recieves fancier models as the story progresses. It may be possible that the clunker that you start with doesn't have an FM reciever but later models do.

  6. Children waiting for the day they feel good

    Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday

Made to feel the way that every child should

Sit and listen, sit and listen

Went to school and I was very nervous

No one knew me, no one knew me

Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson

Look right through me, look right through me

Doesn't really fit in with the GeOW machoness. Emotion wasn't exactly one of the games strong points. It could have theoretically fit if the ad had a better sequence of visuals to go with the song. Maybe Fincher didn't know what song they were gonna license. What I'm trying to say is the song damn near IS Donnie Darko. Every line.

  7. Serenity was fun in a very Joss Whedon kinda way. Buffy/Angel were always guilty pleasures.

@Arun/Tyler: This is a rare case where fans should stay away from the directors cut. The Echo & The Bunnymen intro just fit like a glove, other noted mentionables being The Church and Joy Division, although I don't remember the exact sequences. It's kinda funny how a lot of people associate the Tears for Fears song with Gears of War. It just doesn't fit at all imho.

It's been a while since I've seen the film but I clearly remember one of Donnie's friends having a Hulk hogan costume on. And I remember Evil Dead playing in the theater when the bunny/roadkill chap shows up. Nerd fodder, the whole movie.

    Aftrunner +10.

  8. Saw an hour of Richard Kelly's Southland Tales last night. Good Lord what was he thinking? He gave us Donnie Darko, which means he isn't stupid by any stretch of the word. Maybe it was all a plan to land a major studio contract and then piss the money away! f**k Capitalism/Go Indie! or something like that. It's just absolutely unwatchable. It's like he intentionally picked the worst actors he could: The Rock, Stifler from American Pie, Sarah Michelle Gellar. And JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE?? Now I know why it was laughed out of Cannes/Venice.

Donnie Darko godamnit. Best soundtrack EVER.
