  1. i dont do off-topic posts....that is soooo 2007 :D

i only posted that to prove that we're getting the uncensored version (notice the 18+ rating?)

    peace

Fair enough, although we've got a fair few youngins buying the game here.

Edit: Prickly topic maybe, but one that only just occured to me.

  2. Just get his entire filmography. Simple as. I've seen close to all of his work and it's just insane how good an actor he is, not to mention how good Korean directors are in general.

Edit: The director of Memories of Murder, Joon-Ho Bong, was also resposible for Barking Dogs Never Bite and The Host (Im sure everyones heard of this one) and he also wrote Antarctic Journal, which is a semi-genre film set in, surprise surprise, antractica! You can almost see the blood, sweat and tears poured into it by everyone involved.

  3. Excellent :D Try getting your hands on some of the other well regarded ones. The Korean new wave has birthed some truly amazing movies.

And as much as I love the vengeance trilogy, I think the best revenge film from Korea is still A Bittersweet Life. Gamer Trivia: The cenral character in Lost Planet, Wayne, was modeled on Lee Byung-Hun, the lead in this film. Theres no twist to the plot or anything fancy, just straight up gloriously good cinema. and if the end doesn't make you smile, you're already dead inside.

  4. The movie? There was a series also if I remember right. I saw Kawajiri Yoshiaki's Highlander anime a few months back and thought it was quite good. It's well worth a watch if you like his style and the Highlander movie (only the first though, the rest are horrible. Christopher Lambert ftuw.)/mythology.

  5. Watched [Rec] today.

A Spanish film, Hollywood are remaking (butchering) it as Quarantine later this year. It is easily one of the most terrifying films I have seen in years. The first 20 minutes are sort of boring but once it gets going its incredibly intense. The last 10-15 minutes are downright horrifying.

    Cant recommend it enough.

Saw this a couple of weeks back and posted a very low profile link here to see who would pick up on it. This movie is the reason I love genre cinema, zombies especially. It really is that good. I was watching it with a friend and she had no idea it was a zombie film until the first encounter. By the end of the last 20 minutes we were picking our jaws off the floor and mopping up drool. As with most remakes I'm sure the original will be preferred version. It also turned out that one the directors was responsible for a movie called The Darkness that I watched in 03. It had Anna Paquin, which is the only good thing I can say about it. Boy did he improve! :)

@ghb: Korean cinema is just brilliant :P The key is sifting through the mass market filler. You've gotta wonder what the waters like there, some of them are that damn good.

  6. @Tyler: Fair enough. A couple of other bits of random info I found really nice:

    -

    Smashing Pumpkins on the OST.

    \m/

    -

Theres an achievement for fast-tracking it through the story in 30 hrs. Meaning just the story mode should take us mere mortals something like 50!

  7. Another detail that gets a mention is how drivers slump down on the steering and have their foot on the gas even after being shot. So if you aren't careful you can get run down by a guy you killed a second ago. heh.

Non-spoilery (according to me), hence no tagging.
