Sony one doesn't actually have upward firing speakers, it's all simulated.

Zeb one doesn't have eARC, I mean lol.

Yea, I noticed that in the Sony link. They don't have a cutaway/inside view, so I assumed they might still have a couple of upward firing ones in there.

  2. Yea, Dolby will hand out certifications to anyone these days. Even cheapo TVs are Dolby Vision certified now :D

The Atmos label on these soundbars just means they're able to read/decode an Atmos audio track. But *expressing* true Atmos once it's decoded requires downward firing ceiling speakers and a good set of drivers in your regular surround speaker set up or soundbar. What these cheaper soundbars try to do instead is have a couple of upward firing speakers to bounce sound from the ceiling. I'm not sure that's very effective, so might want to look at general audio quality instead rather than expecting a really good Atmos experience.

  3. @Assassins Creed, yea I sat around waiting for it to load until I realized I needed to press the button too

The story's great so far but need to see how it plays out. The game could use some serious patching, though. I get some random rainbow colored artifacts on screen sometimes, almost like Christmas lights :D

Disagree, the eyes burning desert mission was bad.. I don't think open world elements fitted well in Gears 5.. but Hive Busters made up for it.. A Solid Gears Stress buster.. You played that?

Played half of it co-op. It's great and the action's non-stop :D The co-op difficulty is crazy, btw. It really ramps it up for the boss fights. Feels really unbalanced, lol.

On Gears 5, I thought the open world stuff was a nice change. It's good that they gave you the choice of just skipping everything and going straight to the story mission, but it was nice to explore a bit and find smaller stories. Did you dislike the other open-world levels too?

I played the first two games way back when I was a kid. And yeah, this game has a similar look and feel. Although I remember the puzzles being much harder in the Syberia games. And I remember those games looking much better than what that screenshot suggests :P

There was also this other game called Still Life which was pretty similar and that I played around the same time. I loved that too.

This is true. I think that screenshot may be from one of the later games where they decided to try that new-fangled 3D graphics thing everyone's into all of a sudden :D

I remember trying Still Life but never got around to finishing it. Microids released a game based on the Blacksad comic series last year (excellent read if anyone's into comics). Very similar gameplay again. It's a very European style, and most small studios that specialize in adventure games are in Europe.

The closest Western US analogue would be the Telltale games, I guess.

Looks like Division 1. Why the scripted voice??

Yea, that was really cheesy. I couldn't even get past the first few minutes, and it looks so similar to the Division that I'm probably not missing much either.

Anyone else really like the intro credits sequence? I don't see it having a lot to do with the game itself but it's pretty cool nonetheless :P

Yea, the intro credits and prologue were really well done!

This game clearly isn't for everyone, though.

It's more an adventure game very similar to Bloober's other titles, so that should've been the expectation all along. Has anyone played the Syberia series of adventures games? It really reminded me of that, perhaps because of the protagonist and the almost pre-rendered nature of the backgrounds.

Gears 2 was all the better for it though. Unfortunately that’s where Gears peaked.

I kind of enjoyed the horror elements in 1. The action in the later games is great (probably tried to emulated the Uncharted games), but first had a really nice tone/balance to it.

And yea, the series peaked with 2 and 3. Did you play 5? It's the best Gears has been in a decade, and looks great on the SX.

People hated backtracking in it cause there was lot of it in that game. i remember i had printed out its strategy guide off the net cause i was always wondering what am i supposed to do most of the time. Puzzles were damn hard for its time.

Had visited a cyber cafe to get it printed. Good ol'days.. :D

Okay, I clearly don't remember any of the backtracking. Thank you, selective memory and nostalgia. I mostly remember the in-apartment stuff. Close enough to P.T. that I wonder if Kojima ever played SH4, lol.

And I had a few GameFaqs guides printed out too, but for JA-only pro-wrestling games. King of Colosseum 2, Wrestle Kingdom, etc. But let's not go down that rabbit hole :D

Its reminds me of SH4:TR minus the dual screen.

Yep, it feels like Bloober (in general) draws a lot from the SH games - especially the pacing.

The Room was really underrated back when it launched. Not sure a lot of people played it, unfortunately. And I loved the first person sections. Just goes to show how ahead of the game Team Silent was.

So FPS is not more than 30 FPS in entire game ? That really sucks on first ever proper Series X game..

    But it's also a slower-paced exploration game. I don't even know/think there's combat or fast-paced action, so it shouldn't be an issue gameplay-wise.

Out of curiosity, why should companies be even refunding money for games that you didn't like, unless its extremely broken like Cyberpunk 2077?

Just wait for reviews and then buy, why expect them to issue refund if you didn't like it? How does one even buy a wrong game/DLC accidentally? There are so many hoops you need to jump through- add to cart, checkout page, payment, otp, etc. It isnt as simple as Buy Now with amazon pay wallet where it gets deducted instantly.

Favorable consumer laws in the largest markets (US/UK/EU/AU, etc.). I'm sure they would've liked to avoid the refund if they could too :D

They probably also have breakers built in. If returns for a product cross 8% (just a guess), it gets pushed up as a potential product issue.

did you have food at the place, with the nice couple that invite you ? or take a night off, gazing at the sky, camping in the bayou ?

Damn, I never got this. How/where exactly did you trigger it? :scratchchin:

Not much i am personally on 200 mbps, costs 999+tax, does everything I want.

1 Gbps is probably for ppl who download a lot, which is anyway a dying art with everything moving to streaming now. For a 4K stream 40 mbps is enough.

Yea, I'm on 250Mbps/3.3TB with ACT. It's more than sufficient, EXCEPT when you're trying to download those 80-100 GB games.
