  1. All this while senior players used excuse themselves from domestic and some international matches (with weaker opponents) by giving the reason that they are playing too much of cricket however since T20 WC 2024 final; they have played three ODIs in SL which they failed miserably and 10 test matches which roughly translates to 53 days of cricket + 15 days of travel and 15 days of pre-series preparations (assuming this was even done for Ban and NZ series) so there was no excuse for Virat or Rohit to not play domestic but instead they chose to go to London and Kapil Sharma show.

Easy to blame the batting coach but our batting has been sh*t for years now. Multiple coaches have come and gone too. Sanjay bangar, vikram rathore etc

Of course the first blame is always with players but the coaching staff also needs to be made accountable and it also includes the past coaches too.

To be honest though not just India but batting has been sh*t for rest of the world from 2020-21 onwards. It has been mostly individual contributions or flat pitches where the runs have been scored but eventually other countries are slowly getting better but Indian team is yet to catch up. This is not the excuse though because there is no effort to get better or grind it out.

The reason I blame coaching staff is due to how Sarfaraz was being handled, even though he is supposed to be great player of spin but the way he was managed and constant changing of his position had messed up his game during NZ series. He was the same guy who made double hundred on a tricky pitch a week before NZ series started despite the personal issue he was going through.

One thing Dravid and his coaching staff did really well was to give clear messaging and handling of youngsters in the team and this came from his experience in NCA and U19 coaching. I don't think current coaching staff has any experience in such scenarios ( I don't consider their IPL coaching as experience).

SACK gambhhir// 3-0 at home and now this

BCCI never does that unfortunately! Not sure what is the role of the support staff though! Batting coach is not able to inculcate an approach!

Guess everyone okay with konstas behaving like an a*s as its aussie mentality, when jaiswal does it lot of people lose it

Looks like that behavior of his has already riled up entire Indian team. Nitish literally ran from slip towards Konstas. There is going to be huge celebrations tomorrow once he gets out, if it happens to be Bumrah. God save him!

Why the hell Australia board can't afford Hot Spot, such stupid DRS setup. It seems every time there is a dubious decision, it has gone against us.

It needs to be agreed by both boards and it's highly expensive compared to other technologies. In fact BCCI opposes Hotspot TECHNOLOGY. Cricket Australia is the only board which used Hotspot technology extensively.

KL Rahul is the biggest choker in this indian team. He might be in the form of his life but will always fail in crucial match.

This became true however he got really good ball to get out.

Even though he has choked a lot in the past but in tests when he puts efforts he has been better (specially in SENA countries).

Im surprised no ones talking about rahul, but I have high hopes in him, i think he will step up tommorow. I only want rohit to show the last selfless act and let him open the inning. Rohit can bat at any number, its not gonna make any difference, even if he bats at no 11.

It will be ridiculous and greedy if he continues in test, after this series. (If he cant score in last match also).

I didn't mention Rahul simply because I assumed he would hold one end up for others to make runs. Like what Pujara used to do! There is no way India is surviving the match without KL's contribution.

I hope Rohit goes down the order and Rahul opens.

South Africa vs pakistan going down the wire.

To the last wicket and run.

    Epic

SA won the match! What a turnaround. Feel bad for Abbas though the way he bowled after coming back.

    Draw is impossible now.

If India bats for 90 overs tomorrow, they will win the match.

Draw looks like the only positive outcome for India. The Indian top order is horrible, it would be a miracle if they survive first 30 overs. Unless Pant, Reddy and Washington play a blinder along with Jaiswal, the possibility of a win is minimum but there is a high probability that India will lose this match before tea.

If they are smart (which they are not currently including the coach in that dressing room), they should aim for draw and hope for the best!

Whats wrong with rishabh pant, it looks like he's not serious about his cricketing career.

Yeah it seems weird that he tried that shot even when they was fielder. The situation demanded playing out overs.

He wont be playing a test match again till end of next year.

This I agree with as a one of the reason for his retirement however what is surprising is to do it in the middle of ongoing series.

The next series we have is against England in England, its very clear that team prefers jaddu / washinton for overseas tests for their batting.
    Guess that forced his decision

The fact that he played in Adelaide tells me it is something else, because he would have played in Sydney for sure but I hope you are right and it is nothing else.

1 bad series, recognizes decline and retires to make way for youngsters

    Pure match winner.
    Thank You Ashwin :majesty:

Now for the other 2 to take cue.

He truly was a match winner, clear thinker and always trying to improve his skills. But something about this sudden retirement feels like another BCCI/team level screw up than him doing it.

Knowing the way he speaks about the game and his own way to approach the game, he would have been very clear when he wanted to retire! He would have made the decision by end of NZ series if he had decided. The fact that he is flying back tomorrow also seems fishy, I hope I am wrong and he made this decision all by himself.

He truly deserved a send off and guard of honour from both India and opposition!
