    man u guys have to stop over anazlysing sh*t so much.....i used to love this thread before all u guys started picking movies apart like know-it-all reviewers....i wonder if u guys actually enjoy any of the movies

     

    PS: not aimed at anyone in particular....just read 10-15 pages that i had missed since i last came in here

    IMO discussing a movie and what you liked and did not like about it is half the fun right? Whats the point of a movie thread if you cant discuss the movies.

    Just saw Juno yesterday. A really nice movie though IMO a bit over hyped. A good movie no doubt but nothing that great. What I didnt like with the movie was how unnaturally cool Juno was in the beginning. There are some really touching parts towards the end but some bits were really not that believable. 3.5/5

     

    American Gangster - Saw this one some time ago but was too lazy to write about it. A really well made movie, I really liked it. 3.75/5

     

    Aviator - Saw it again yesterday. An inspiring and very well made movie based on a true story. I really loved it 4/5

     

    American Pie Beta House - Ugggh the American Pie franchise has either lost its charm or I have outgrown it. It started going downhill after the first two movies and now its nothing more than a film that kids in the 5th grade can watch and tell their friends that they saw boobs. The movie has nothing to say and no story. Very avoidable 1/5

    Black & White

     

    - Anurag Sinha who plays the lead is just about ok in the film. Its only during the climax and the last 20 minutes that he does a good job. He spends the rest of the film frowning and somehow that just isnt believable enough. He definatly had the look but somehow just wasnt convincing enough. Playing a terrorist doesnt mean having an angry expression on your face throughout the movie.

     

    - The person who played Gaffar did an excellent job. Very Natural and nothing over the top.

     

    - Some of the other actors did a strictly ok job.

     

    - Anil Kapoor's character is a bit too squeaky clean and just not believable. Anil Kapoor's fascination with Anurag Sinha just isnt built up and hence isnt believable. A Dhoomish attempt at making Anil Kapoor's relationship with his wife seem natural by making her yell at him in Bengali is evident. Anil Kapoor overacted a bit though I guess it isnt 100% his fault which brings us to the next point.

     

    - Filmy. The cops are chasing a terrorist and Anil Kapoor manages to catch up with them on his scooter and stands in front of the cops preventing them from catching a terrorist who had definite plans to blow up the Red Fort and yet the cops just say "oho hatt jaaeeye na". Numair's sudden love for his country is kinda predictable and you can see it coming all along. Anil Kapoor not reporting that his wife died to the cops and going to the Red Fort the next day? Yea, Very believable. Anil Kapoor's dumb daughter doesn't communicate using sign language but with these actions which she learnt at home. hmmmm

     

    - A lot of stuff is explained a bit too much. When the two youth leaders are talking to the MLA they actually tell you what character they are playing. A little subtlety would have been good here and in a lot of other scenes.

     

    - Comparing this movie to Black Friday - Black Friday had more natural characters, natural reactions, more believable events and somehow was a way more solid movie and to be honest this movie just doesnt compare.

     

    - Totally unecessary romantic angle.

     

    - Loved the shot where they are taking pictures for Numair's ID card. Very artistic.

     

    - Dealt with a good subject though this isnt really the first time a movie like this has been done, a different, fresh, original angle would have been interesting.

     

    - For some reason there is no trace of this film on IMDb

     

    - Overall - 2.75/5

    3 movies a day!! A perfect way to spend the day.

     

    Finally saw American Gangster today. A little dragged but overall a good movie.

     

    Mithya - Some parts are really hillarious, great performances by Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shourie and Neha Dhupia.

     

    Bombay to Bangkok - One of the worst movies ever.

     

    Sunday - A bit better than Bombay to Bangkok but still really really crap. Arshad Warsi should pick and chose his roles and Ajay Devgan should do comedy at all.

    P.S. is the pizzeria at powai still open?

     

     

    Yup. Still open. I had heard rumours in the middle that Mars Restaurants didnt belong to Sanjay Narang anymore but I now hear that its still with him. The one thing I hate about Mars Restaurants is the lethargic feel you get when you go to them. Theyre all great restaurants with good food and a great concept but somehow you feel like theyre running out of business.

    I like grease ;). Aneeways, anybody in here who absolutely hates KFC fries and their zinger burgers ?

    Just had garlic bread, enjoyed it :rolleyes: Was watching family guy when i was having it (in case you were wondering)

     

    I know a lot of people hate KFC fries but I lovve their Zinger burgers. The chicken there is quite sh*t to be honest but the Zingers are really good.

    Had the Bombay Masala Pizza from Pizzeria. Brilliant stuff.

     

    @anksam: They've one in Bandra at Just Around The Corner.

     

     

    Thats one of the most popular pizzas there besides the "Talk of the Town".

     

    They used to have a pizza called HUM YUM which is really delicious. Bacon, Onions, Musshrooms and extra cheese. They have discontinued the combination now but you can always request for it. Its a bit on the unhealthy side because of the bacon(but then what pizza isnt) but trust me guys the calories you put on will be worth it.

    ok need a place to go in the suburbs for someone's party...authentic Italian( atleast a place wer risottos r available)

    Authentic Italian?

     

    Don Giovanni opposite the Marriot. It has the most authentic Italian in Mumbai. Have the Pizza Ai Salami and youll never want to eat pizza anywhere else. Cant think of a single thign that isnt good on the menu except the iced tea and the fact that they only carry Pepsi and no coke.

     

     

    btw the place is run by an Italian and he very clearly mentions on this first page of the menu how he hasnt changed any of his meals to suit the Indian palate.

    Nope still running. Best pizzas in the value range. MUUUCCHHH better than dominoes/smokin joes/pizza hut.

     

    The only pizza thats edible at dominoes is the thin crust pepperoni.

    You have GOT to be kidding me. Its an ultraportable buddy, the worlds thinnest laptop. .16th of an inch thick. Thats really amazing.

     

    Besides you get an optional external optical drive and a SSD drive. Its not targetted at media junkies or gamers but at people who travel a lot and dont need the extra graphics capabilities. The laptop looks really AMAZING

    I need some help with my laptop

     

    I always reinstall windows when I get a new laptop to get rid of all the bloatware and in the process lose out on the DVD software. All the other software is there on the product support page but not tht DVD software. Does anyone know any good free dvd player or dvd decoder for XP.
