Well summon for Pinwheel is the easiest (fastest) way to get Sunlight Medal, besides Gargoyle fight, if you are part of Sunlight Covenant.

TotG is the best place for farming Humanities. Those baby skeletons drop humanities frequently with the snake ring and they re-spawn quickly. The pinwheel duplicates also drop White Titanite Chunk with the ring equipped.
But the whole area sucks with those stupid skeleton dogs and got to move everywhere wearing that stupid Sunlight maggot helmet.

Hmmm, I have never found any summon signs there.
Never found summon signs for a lot of bosses like Pinwheel, Nito, Four Kings, Gwyn, Firesage, Sif etc.
I have played each of the boss fights about 4-5 times (3 times on PS3 and currently NG+ on PC).
Heck I even camped outside Sif with a summon sign for 2-3 hours and never got summoned (as part of SunLight covenant).
For some reason can only find lot of summon signs for well lit, open areas like Undead parish, Anor Londo etc.
Found quite a few summon signs for the new content though.
-
You got to be Human (start of as Undead) for the online mode. Once you use your Humanity and 'Reverse Hollow' at the bonfire, you can start seeing others gamers summon signs for help.
However you got to be ready to be invaded also.
-
You can fight him once you level up a bit. Wear some fire resistant gear and melee away. Though the drop sucks. Just 10K souls and nothing else.
He gets super tough in NG+ though.

Attunement is for increasing the number of Attunement Slots.
Before using Pyromancy (eg. Fire Combustion), Magic (eg. Heavy Soul), Miracle (eg. Homeward), you need to place them in the attunement slot (Rest at a Bonfire and Choose Attune Magic).
The more points you put in Attunement, the more slots you have and so you can cast more magic, miracles etc (Though it is not linear. Maxes out at Attunement Level 30 I think). Putting anymore points in it after that is pointless.
Humanity, Is well basically humanity. You use it for becoming Human, Kindling Bonfires to get more Estus Flask (Max 20). It also increases your resistance against poison, toxin etc. It also increases your Item discovery. Some weapons damages increase depending on you Humanity level. However most effects peak out at 10 Humanity (Can reach max of 99).
Reverse Hollowing (becoming Human) enables PvP and people can start invading you when you are playing.

It's a sucky place to be in anyway. I always open the shortcut, go to the Bonfire directly.
Kill the Maneater Phantom, finish the boss fight and head back to Firelink Shrine.
The only useful thing to do in the Swamp is upgrade your Pyromancy, after finishing off the boss.
-
If you already went to the Depths, you will get a Spider Shield that boosts defense against Poison and Toxins (Only while blocking attacks and not while walking in the Swamp). It also has 100% Physical damage reduction.
-
Yeah....if you go further down....there is a lift that will take you to New Londo Ruins and shortcut to Blighttown. The shortcut will open up only if you picked Master Key as starting Gift.
-
There are four places you can go to. Dark Root Garden/Basin, Catacombs, Depths/Blighttown, New Londo Ruins.
If you want to continue the story(?), then go to blighttown and ring the bell. If you picked the master key as gift while starting, there is a shortcut to get to blighttown from Firelink Shrine.
If not, then go to go to Depths and kill the Gaping Dragon (the grossest boss in Dark Souls) which will drop the key for Blighttown. Ringing the bell there will open up Sen's fortress, from where you can go to Anor Londo. Anor Londo is a very good place for farming and leveling up.
You can also go to Darkroot Garden and try fighting the Moonlight Butterfly, Hydra and Sif (Bosses) and use the souls for leveling up before going on to the second bell.
Since you killed the blacksmith, you cannot make Divine Weapons and that is really useful in the Catacombs. So Catacombs might be a difficult place for now.
The next time you see me online, message me. I think I can invade you with my level 12 character and drop some Divine Weapons for Catacombs and other weapons/armours.
Hope you are putting points in Vit and Endurance. That will boost your HP and Weapons/Armour carrying ability. If you start using Elemental Weapons then most of the other stats are kinda useless.
-
As usual I am partial towards katana. You can get one by killing the merchant at Undead Parish and you can get it upgraded by Andrei.
It scales with Dex, does bleed damage and gets more powerful with resins and buffs.
-
Cool, the Maneater is super helpful in the boss fight.
-
Normal gear with good posie is fine. Just carry a lot of blossoms (from Darkroot Garden) as most of the attacks will poison you.
Also, if you have the Rusted iron ring (Got to go back to Undead Asylum again to get this ring), would be helpful here as the Swamp will slow you down.
-
lol....PvP is pretty tough the first few times. You get the Read Soap Stone in the Painted World (At Anor Londo). You need to ring both the bells before going there.
Sent you a request on GFWL.
-
You are probably moving slow, because your gears are too heavy. If the total weight of armour and weapons exceed 50% of the allowed limit (depends on points in Endurance), you will start moving slowly and swinging stuff slowly.
Hmmm, I dont have any characters around lvl 30 (there is a restriction on summoning, where the person summoned has to be within 10-15% lvl of the summoner). I have three characters at lvl 12, 55 and 115.
I could invade you using my lvl 12 character though, as invading in Darkwraith covenant has no level restrictions.
Also, since you have the Gargoyle Tail Axe, I am assuming you already killed the Gargoyles Boss. If yes, you cannot summon anyone or be invaded by anyone in that area (Undead Parish) AFAIK.
You can only summon/be invaded in areas where the Bosses are not yet killed. If you are in some other area like Darkroot garden, Darkroot Basin, Blighttown, Depths etc, you can be invaded by me or Afty (if he is in Darkwraith covenant).
You can also summon Afty there.
Edit - Hmmm, generally don't play at night. Will add you up anyway and if I find you online we can try and work something out.
Do you play during daytime (morning or afternoon)?
-
Wat level is he at? I can drop some stuff, if I can connect. Can also get stuff upgraded if required.
-
Thx will go for uchi
Also look at Washing Pole or something like that sold by Shiva (need to join Forest Hunter Covenant). It is a Katana with Higher requirement (18 Dex instead of 16), but seems a bit longer and has longer reach for R2 attack (thrust attack).

guys my character is a theif so is it wise to go for a dex build? what kind of weapons should i be wielding that will result in quick kills? right now i have a battle axe +5 equipped and in the area "undead parish" i kill everything with one or 2 hits- even those enemies with red cloaks

when i equip the gargoyle tail ax with shield, i get a shield symbol in my HUD below my HP and Stamina bars, any idea what it means? and i attacked the blacksmith by mistake and he was so tough to kill and now i cant reinforce any of my weapons
how far away is the next blacksmith? The character you pick at start has no effect on anything. You can go for any build irrespective of what you pick at start. What matters is where you put points on leveling up. You get no special attacks/benefit based on what you pick at start. If you wanna go for Dex build, you just need to put points in it. Thief has got nothing to do with it.
The gargoyle tail axe boosts poison and toxin resistance. I think that is why you are seeing the shield symbol.
You kill the blacksmith at Undead parish, you are kinda handicapped
. He is the single most useful smith in the game. Each blacksmith is different and have their own speciality. Andrei levels up weapons to Normal+10, Normal+15, Divine+10 (Very useful in Catacombs) and Occult. He also sells the Key to Sif's area. Now you might need to go long route to kill Sif.
I think Normal+10 is required for upgrading to Lightning, Divine, Boss Soul and Occult weapons.
You can now only create Fire, Chaos, Magic, Enchanted weapons from Normal+5 weapons (you can level these yourself by buying the Smithbox from merchant).
For Fire and Chaos weapons, go to the blacksmith in Catacombs. For Magic and Enchanted weapons you need to talk to the blacksmith locked up below Firelink Shrine.

Not sure if Balder sword causes bleed damage, but Uchi does. So with 3-4 swings you can kill of most of the mobs, even in NG+.
For boss fights, buffing weapons is a very good option. Uchi+15 with buff (Use resins in case you don't want to level up Faith/Int) can finish of bosses in quick time.
Anyone playing NG+/NG++?
I started with NG+ and the bosses so far have been underwhelming (SL 110). Still not killed the Taurus Demon and Gargoyles. Finishing the bosses I can before ringing both the bells. Killed Queelag, Hydra, Sif, Three Cats, Butterfly, Goat Demon, the demon in the starting area once you go back (the section where the floor collapses and you fight a boss) in first attempt. Got to try Four Kings next as that was tough in NG+ on PS3 and that is the only boss fight that is supposed to get super hard with every NG iteration.
The drake on the bridge looks bigger than in NG. Does not shooting his tail make the fight tougher?
Also noticed an advantage of not killing the Taurus Demon and Gargoyles. Running from Firelink Shrine to the first Bonfire in Undead parish gets me a Humanity. Can get humanity easily in 2-3 mins. Also running from that Bonfire (using the ladder) to Bonfire near Andre gets another Humanity.

I put max points in Dex in almost all my builds and I use Katanas (Uchi, by killing the first merchant in Undead Parish). It scales with Dex and causes bleed damage after 3-4 hits. You can also join the Forest Hunter covenant and buy Iato and Washing Pole, from Shiva at Blighttown (bonfire closest to Queelag). You can also use a Balder Side sword, fully upgraded, for Dex build. If you use weapon buffs on upgraded weapons, they do more damage than elemental weapons.
If you upgrade the weapons to do elemental damage then points in Dex don't matter. Once I reach Anor Londo, I upgrade them to do lightning damage, so Dex points don't matter.
Edit - I think most weapons max around 40 Dex (Incremental damage after 40Dex aren't that great), so not sure how useful putting 50 points in dex helps. Put additional points in Faith/Int to get powerful weapons buff.

Whew...finally killed Kalameet. Took three tries to get rid of him. Took a good 20-25 mins to kill him using Lightning Uchi and about 10-12 Estus flask.
There are no fukin summons in the new content for help. Looks like very few people play it.
No to kill the pussy Gwyn and on to NG+.
-
Yeah, It is like a GOTY edition. Has the Original game along with the new content.
Finished the Manus fight and it was easy. Just long and tedious. With a shield with good stability, Poise Ring, Silver pendant and about 10 estus flask, you can finish the fight without Sifs' help.
Anyone have any idea on the use of the guardian Soul. Wiki says it has no use, so was planning to use it for leveling up.
Got two dragons to kill, Gwyn and then on to NG+.
-
lol......no summons can help you there. Maybe try wearing gears with good poise.
He will start the sweeping move when you reach that inner circle like structure near him. So you can try jumping when you see the sweeping arm and just drop off the edge (where there are two extra tiles projecting out).
I would wear the stamina recovering gear (Mask of Child, Grass Crest shield) and then keep running as fast as I can. Then would slow down as I reach near the inner circle (so that stamina recovers quickly) and then continue running as fast as I can.
That is some super cheap boss in Dark Souls. The suckiest boss as there is no actual challenge defeating him other than timing the runs.

The lightning bolt thingy is reward for joining 'Warrior of Sunlight' covenant. I think you need faith level 25 for joining that covenant (reduces by 5 everytime you help someone finish a boss fight when they summon you). The place to join that covenant is below that dragon on the bridge (Put on some fire protection gear and just run across the bridge. There is a bonfire, on activating it the dragon flies away). You have to give Sunlight medals for getting more powerful lightning weapons, but faith requirement increases for each new lightning weapon.
Summoning Solaire during boss fights will get you the medals. Also helping others when they summon you for boss fights gets you those medals.
Edit - Wiki page for Dark Souls. Has all the possible info about Dark Souls (New content is not updated completely).

Must be issues with net connection (Speed too low or frequent disconnections).
I had issues when net speed became low. When Airtel's FUP used to kick in, I have got disconnected a couple of times.

Humanity farming in New content? Are you talking about the humanities we fight before the boss fight?
Hmmm, they never dropped that frequently for me. Those bloated dudes did drop a few.
For some reason I have found the small guys to drop the max. Probably because they keep re-spawning.
You can just camp there for sometime and farm a lot of humanities without having to visit a bonfire.
