They saw Cheeni and Korean companies going big in that sector and decided to bow out. -

Canon/Nikon can't make a decent sensor if their life depended on it They're primarily optics companies that also make cameras. Canon is trying to put their own sensors in their new mirrorless camera though. -

Its tiny, like less than 1%. They have a big insurance arm, used to be the only branch that made profit during PS3 days Also camera and sensors is in imaging section. Basically every camera right now uses Sony sensors (Canon, Nikon, iPhone etc). -

3D audio directly through controller is such a big step forwards, yet very few people actually talk about it. This is why audio on consoles is stuck three generations behind. Most games use exact same audio codec and surround setup used on OG Xbox.

The only thing MS added to its controller is the share button from last gen. Its not that difficult for them to be "consumer friendly" when they spend $5 on controller R&D. Maybe there'll be adapters that let you use DS4 like how Nintendo lets you use GC pad with Smash. I actually did not expect my arcade stick, wheel and camera to work going forward, but good to know they're not dropped hard like Kinect.

Touchpad is awesome in games that support it properly.

I think people will not outrage when FF16 is announced to be 1 year PS5 exclusive, since moneyhatting 3rd party timed exclusive is not anti-consumer anymore. Right?

They don't own game rights, but there's going to be backdoor deals if Marvel wants to use Spidey in their movies. Sony Pictures can always pickup their Spidey bag and leave, and continue to make their own standalone movies. I bet they're strong-arming Disney/Marvel for game rights and poor Crystal Dynamics got caught in the middle

DS4 is BT so I assume DS5 will be same too. The latency for controller is really tiny, like 1 or 2ms. That's because the polling rate on DS4 is really high, something 1000hz. But you can't do this with just audio because the codec itself adds huge latency. DS4 is also only 3MB peak data rate, which is why the audio through the jack sounds shitty and extremely compressed. -
Someone on era verified by mods suggested this is not the end of Sony x Square deals, there's more stuff to come. Hold on to your butts.

The Quest is $399 with Qualcomm chip and onboard storage, so I'm sure PSVR2 can fit in that budget. Heck even be at $299 because you don't need all that extra silicon and controllers.

No its not. For starter the audio plug on it supports full 3D audio, which means it almost certainly uses different BT spec for DS5. It can switch to legacy mode for BC games, but I'm pretty sure PS5 titles won't even let the console sync with DS4. -
PSVR currently uses older technic where external camera tracks VR headset and controller in 3D space. Inside-out tracking is similar to what Oculus Quest does where cameras are on the headset itself, and it will map your play area and track from inside the headset (like your own head in real life). This method doesn't need external camera or light on the controller. Motion sickness depends on the game. Some are notoriously bad like RE7 or Driveclub, others like Astro Bot and GTS are fine. Also depends from person to person. But if you get motion sick while playing normal FPS chances are high that you'll get it in VR too.

Pretty decent library of actual VR games and not just tech demos. I wish some of that stuff wasn't locked to PSVR. Also PSVR2 is pretty much confirmed with inside-out tracking (just needs official announcement).
