  1. Managed to get 4 map fragments so the map is huge now, get weapon to +4, total 8 flasks with +2 level (so full health recovery), level 3 wolf summons and dude at level 25. I think finally I can start the game and start beating some bosses

Wait what.. you can't retry a boss?

The very first boss with multiple arms and a shield. You have to start a new game every time you die.

  3. Almost beat the first boss but fker pulled a brand new attack at the last moment

Sucks that you can't retry him again without creating another save file from the start.

Much harder to pull off than BB.

How did you beat the first boss? Samurai arrow spam? Because the boss is intentionally very hard, you're suppose to die to him for story reasons. You don't even have healing potions yet.

Loving the Guard Counter. Very easy to pull off and does a lot of damage too.

Looks like it was added to make things easier for folks like me who could never get parrying right

There is a standard parry too which automatically leads to critical hit like Bloodborne.

It really is a sad day for me.

I don’t know when I’ll get to play this game.

But I truly am shellshocked to see Fromsoftware outdo themselves with Bloodborne, which I thought wouldn’t be possible.

Why? You can play it on PS4.

Cause difficulty in these games is not just about the number of hits

There are traps, enemy positioning, sh*t cut-throating u from corners

sh*t raining posion on you from above

sh*t setting the floor on fire

sh*t spewing all kinds of crazy spells while multiplying at the same time

Mimics where u least expect them

    Dodging Skeleton wheels

Fking Cursed basilisks petrifying u for good leaving you with half life.

Patches kicking u in the depths

Each item is designed to integrate with the core mechanics

Buffs, weapon mod types specific to enemies

There is no way easy mode enthusiasts can tour these games without the game changing its whole design

Like I said, easy mods exists on PC, usually made and balanced by one person. It doesn't breach the artistic integrity or soil the holiness of the developer vision for the rest of the Soulsbros.

to those saying that difficulty is what souls games are about, would you stop playing them and sh*t on the company if there were multiple difficulty settings available?

There was a time when having a map and quest markers was looked down upon by the Souls community. And now look at Elden Ring

...... Or... Have the easier difficulty, call it 'couch potato' mode and disable all trophies/achievements.

    Everyones happy.

    *hides under the bed*

Do it like Ninja Gaiden did, you have to wear a pink ribbon and your NPC girlfriend will taunt you for playing on easy difficulty.

Cause these games are designed with minimalistic story telling amd guidance on what to do

That part in itself is challenging

Merely making the combat easy in the current state will result in an odd incoherent mess.

It might not be weird for you, but it will surely be for me

    Easy mode might work

in future if from will make their storytelling/lore more accessible.

Yes I get that, but my question is, as someone who's playing on lord Miyazaki's intended difficulty, why do YOU care? This was also my question to people bitching about Returnal's mid-save patch. Why the fk you care if someone is able to save mid-game? Play like you always played.

Because it would be irresponsible by Fromsoft for baking in such a sub par experience in the game. They have standards to keep up.

If I were a new gamer playing Souls game for the first time on easy mode and all I ever got was a walking simulator, I'd be furious.

It would tank the reputation of the game. If an easy mode is to be implemented, it should be done well. And the nature of these games makes it difficult to do so.

Sekiro is kind of an exception though. I can see an easy mode being implemented in Sekiro where only the parry/counter timers and posture bar being tweaked.

Don't worry, these devs are talented enough to pull off multiple difficulties. Most indies pull off this basic feature. No need to get furious

So basically people want fromsoft to make a virtual tour mode kind feature, so folks can roam around in nightmare city unharmed and kill a monster or two for fun

Like jurassic park 1 theme ride

Yeah some people might enjoy that. Why would Souls bros be bothered by that? They can continue to git gud in their own game.

Not really the case. You could play games like DMC, Nioh or Ghost of Tsushima on easy difficulty mode and still feel like a badass pulling off awesome looking moves.

On Souls games you just spam R1 and R2 for the same 2-3 moves. Yay!

GoT automates the duels on easy and DMC automates most of its combos. I'm pretty sure that's not the intended way by the developers to play their games

    But I'm glad there's a choice.

I don't really care either way. Just voicing my opinion that unlike most other games, Soulsbourne games are designed in such a way that taking away the difficulty would make for a much poorer experience.

Most games are designed around default difficulty, Soulsborne isn't anything special in that case. Dropping difficulty to easy in most games results in unsatisfactory gameplay, but its a choice for people who can't progress with default setting. And I'm not bothered by that because it doesn't matter to me.

Disagree. It is not about caring how others play. It is seriously going to affect the entire mechanism these games are built on, if provided more difficulty options especially easy ones, it would just be in line with other games would soon become stale. You will find lots of "Just another open-world game with some weirdness". More difficulty options will surely harm this franchise if not others.

There are easy mods on PC for all Souls games, and there will be more for Elden Ring. And they perfectly reside in the same universe as lord Miyazaki's envisioned non-moded game without breaking the space-time fabric.

The soulsbourne games are built and balanced around its difficulty. The fun in combat resides in learning the enemies attack patterns and then overcoming them. The satisfaction you get from adapting and overcoming a previously impossible foe is immense.

If one could just turn on ez mode and face tank all the enemies, 1-2 hitting them, there isn't much else to do in the world. Before anyone says exploration, the exploration mechanic is also tied to the combat difficulty. Exploring new pathways always feels rewarding because you are rewarded with a shortcut, an item or a new area with items and enemies to kill and level up. If the enemies aren't challenging, there no feeling of accomplishment in finding a new shortcut or an item.

Everything in these games is balanced around its difficulty. Simply introducing an easy mode with % modifiers would just break the game and make it unfun and unrewarding to play.

Why do you care what other people do with their difficulty setting? Play the game like you normally play, let others do what they want. More difficulty options never harmed anyone. Gatekeeping is seriously one of the worst traits of Soulsborne community.

this issue was addressed in sekiro too, when you get stuck up against headless or ape or the singing lady you could always reroute, explore new areas and come back

    albeit w/o the open world

You could always go back and grind in all From soft games. In ER you can go back, forward and sideways too. Earn better loot, better weapons, magic runes etc, come back and beat the boss.
