  1. Episode 4 is probably the best episode of True Detective so far.

The long one-take shot towards the end had me at the edge of my seat :majesty:

After seeing all this appreciation for True Detective, I need to give it one more go. Watched the first episode while browsing side by side. Maybe thats why i didn't found it that interesting. :notangel:

How can you enjoy anything if you watch it like that?

  2.

i am not saying that it is a bad movie as a matter of fact i liked, def better then superman, but IM3 was still better for me. Just that too much CGI in movies these days, probably the movie i loved this year was Django unchained.

What did you expect when you went to see a movie which has giant robots fighting giant monsters?

  3. Its a very accurate (not completely true) movie. There is even investigation going on as to how they sourced the classified data on which the movie is based, watched it yesterday, like the movie as well as protagonist's acting, if it wasnt for daniel day, she might have actually stood a chance.

Stood a chance for what? If you're talking about the oscars, you do know that they have separate categories for male and female actors, right? :P

  4. Crazy good deals going on over at Amazon right now -

For example, Steam keys for Deadlight + Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet + Iron Brigade + Mark of the Ninja + Toy Soldiers for 10$ or 5$ if you have a coupon.

    Thanks!

Got the MS arcade pack for 5$

  5. It is futile arguing with you. Leave it, I am not spending my energy on some blind hater.

I'm giving you reasons why I don't like Dhoni's captaincy. How am I the blind hater here? You have not even given a single reason why you think Jaya's captaincy is stupid. Just saying it is stupid doesn't make it so.

  6. So how many of doing this made him win matches or tournaments? Nothing, 1 or two maybe, nothing substantial. There is a thin line between courage and stupidity, and Jaya mostly leans towards stupidity.

Like I said already, you cannot judge a captain by looking at his win-loss record alone. And if you're so stuck up on stats, I don't see even Dhoni putting up any great numbers after the WC win. Also, you still haven't answered my question about why you think Jayawardene's captaincy is stupid.

One should know his team's strengths and weaknesses before taking crazy decisions. Our bowling attack has been pathetic since a long time, and there is no amount of trust that can magically transform our bowlers into greatness. Dhoni knows the truth, he trusted on the bowlers when Zaheer was in his peak, he had PK as well who bowled great with new ball. But after 2011, Zaheer has lost his sting, PK is injured, spin is in jeopardy, and Indian team looks like it cant defend any total on flat track. However, these new rules will hopefully make him more attacking and his reliance on part timers would be drastically reduced. Jaya had Malinga, Mendis, Murali etc as world class bowlers. But he looked clueless when those were taken for runs. And not mention his over emotional behavior on field.

The boldest part has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever read. What the hell is Dhoni doing by picking bowlers in the team who he doesn't even trust to take wickets? If he knows the truth like you claim, why was he persisting with the same shitty attack for the last 2 years? Why not bring in new faces earlier? It took him countless number of series losses to make a change in the bowling attack. How can he be called a good captain then? He is the one who should be called a stupid captain here. Also, don't tell me he doesn't have a say in selection matters.

I will tell you why he was persisting with the same attack. It's because he only has one golden plan in his mind. He knows that he has a loaded batting line up and he's confident that they can chase any score which the opposition sets up. He has just been banking on the strength of his batting line up. Luckily for him, it was clicking till the WC. Now that his batsmen are woefully out of form, his lack of adaptability and plans are being exposed.

  7. Why dont you elaborate why Jaya is a great captain first?

He agreed to captain the side when his team wasn't doing very well. He took a relatively young side to Australia and inspired them to perform out of their skins. One of the things that is great about his captaincy is his relentless attacking approach on the field. He's always trying to take wickets. How many times can you say that about Dhoni? Even when a new batsman is on the pitch, all it takes is a couple of hits from him and Dhoni is back on the defense. This shows how much faith Dhoni has in his bowlers. How do you expect the bowlers to do anything when the captain hardly trusts your bowling to take a wicket? When the opposition attacks, Jaya tries to counter-attack instead of becoming defensive. Not many captains out there who do this. For me, a good captain is one who is proactive and tries to make things happen rather than sit around and let things unfold. Jaya is one of those captains.

Jaya's captaincy in the triangular series in Australia was one of the best displays of captaincy I have seen in a while. You must seriously be out of your mind if you think Dhoni is a better captain than Jayawardene.

And I'm still waiting for you to elaborate why you think Jaya is an average captain.

  8. I agree with you but still that doesn't make him a sh*t captain. There are countless such moves like putting a fielder beside bowler against Pollard, giving over to J Sharma, trusting R Sharma in 2007 T20, coming up the order at right times, very good bowling changes in countless matches. The key thing is in bold. He has lost something AFTER WC 2011. He can get it back. That doesn't mean he is a sh*t captain.

So he has just lost his touch, has he? Thing is, he was always a tactically poor and rigid captain with a single plan for every match. He practically has the same team since the WC. Difference is, during the WC, the team clicked and everything came together at the right time. Now, things aren't going well for the team and Dhoni's captaincy has been found wanting because he never changes his approach. He has to realize his old tricks aren't working anymore and try to adapt. All good captains do that.

And for the record, I never said he was a sh*t captain in ODI's. He's pretty okay in ODI's but completely sh*t in tests.

And please, Jayawardane is pathetic as a overseas player, and average as a captain. Dont even bring him here. Makes all the wrong choices in crunch matches.

    Please elaborate.

And most people who hate Dhoni are rabid Dada fanboys, and most of them are from Kolkata. You are not, but you are Dada fanboy, hence this hatred.

Just because I think Dhoni is a mediocre captain, it doesn't mean I'm from Bengal. It doesn't mean i'm a dada fanboy (far from it). And it doesn't mean that I'm hating on Dhoni. Stop assuming things.

  9.

    Stickerboy, are you from Bengal/Kolkata?

What are you implying? That I live in Bengal/Kolkata (I don't) and I'm a fan of Sourav Ganguly (I'm not) just because I consider Dhoni a mediocre captain? Or is it because you assume that people in Bengal like football more than cricket so they should stop commenting in the cricket thread?

Seriously dude, what's with you and football?

And FYI, I think Sourav Ganguly is a way better captain than Dhoni.

  10. Seriously man, your point is ridiculous :doh:/>.

That's like me asking someone, "Care to explain why you think Sachin is among the best batsman in the world? Don't tell me it is because he has scored 100 international centuries" :doh:/>

I would have tried to answer your question but I won't even bother after reading that last line. Your mind has already been made up.

I read this like "I don't have anything to back my claim up so I'm just going to make a sorry excuse".

Why do you think Mark Taylor, Steve Waugh and even Michael Clarke are considered better captains than Ponting even though their win-loss records are nothing when compared to that of Ponting's?

Stephen Fleming is still considered as one of the best captains of recent times. It's not because of some win-loss record. If you really knew your cricket like one of your recent comments implies, you would know that captaincy isn't judged by stats alone. It's about how a captain handles his team, his tactical approach, his attitude on the field, his field placements and how he tries to out-think his opposition.

Dhoni hardly ever tries to take the match in his hands. He is a defensive captain and that sometimes works for him in the shorter formats of cricket. When it doesn't work, he's the most clueless guy on the field. He doesn't even try to change his defensive approach when it's not working and always resorts to silly excuses. I seriously think he keeps thinking of excuses on the field when he's losing rather than try to win the match. In recent times, I can only think of one situation where Dhoni made a good move and that was in the WC final when he promoted himself up the order. I seriously can't think of anything else after that.

I would rate him way below Clarke, Jayawardene and Smith.

And I still want to know why you think he's "Among the best captains in ODIs/T20s". Please enlighten me.

    @ stickerboy

Y do you think that he's not a good captain in ODI's ??

I already answered your question above.

If you make someone a captain what do u expect from him ??

We usually expect the captain to win us tournaments....

    Going by your logic:

Won the 2011 WC - yes, job done!!

Won the ODI series in WI - great

Lost the ODI series in England (didn't even win a single match)

    Lost the T20 in England

Lost the triangular series in Australia (didn't even make it to the finals)

Didn't even make it to the semi finals in the previous three T20 world cups

Didn't even make it to the final in the Asia cup (lost to Bangladesh)

Drew T20 series against England @ home.

Drew T20 series against New zealand @ home.

Drew T20 series against Pakistan @ home.

Lost ODI series against Pakistan @ home.

He sure is winning a lot of tournaments.

  11. Um, so you wasted your time explaining something we all know ? :doh:/>

No one is denying that he is a poor/ sh*t test captain. But to say that he is a sh*t captain is just plain stupidity. He is among the best captains in the world when it comes to ODIs and T20s.

You're probably mistaking his batting abilities with his captaincy. I think he is a pretty average captain in ODIs and T20s. But he is a good finisher and leads from the front....I'll give him that.

Care to explain why you think he is "among the best captains in the world"? Don't tell me you think so because of the WC and IPL wins.

  12. Dhoni is a sh*t captain? Just shows how much some people know about their cricket. :loser:

Dhoni is a sh*t captain in test cricket. Anyone with half a brain would know that.

If you want to win test matches, you need to attack. And Dhoni is THE most defensive captain I have ever seen. He just waits for the opposition to make mistakes.

Remember the last test match of India's tour to West Indies in 2011? India needed around 80 odd runs from 15 overs with 7 wickets in hand. What does Dhoni do? He shakes Sammy's hand and calls it a day

Wait, there's more. 4th day of the last test match against England from the recent series. India were trailing by 33 runs. Instead of telling Ashwin and Ojha to hit it out or even declare, Dhoni uses his "cool" head and lets them play for an hour to hit 20 odd runs. Great captaincy indeed! Especially when you take into account that India were 2-1 down in the series.

And do I even have to mention his field placements?

Also, he needs to stop doling out his stupid-a*s excuses. OMG it rained! OMG there's dew! OMG the pitch is green!

@ the guys who are bringing up the WC win as a yard stick for Dhoni's brilliant captaincy......By that logic, Ponting would be considered the greatest captain ever. Why do you think Clarke is being hailed unanimously as a good captain? It's because of the intent he shows on the field. He's always trying to win matches. Dhoni is just happy playing for a draw every time.

  13.

IMO Christian Bale is a much better actor than Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. But Bale's movies are very dark. Suggest some of his movies guys. I have seen Prestige, Batman series, Fighter, Public Enemies, Reign of Fire, Terminator Salvation.

Rescue Dawn and Empire of the Sun.

  14. lol..i was about to buy it anyway...but the page has stopped responding for me too ;)/>/> could always gift away the three keys

I'll buy the 3 keys from you....if you can buy the pack that is :P/>.

The page is not opening for me at all.

  15. DRS saga overshadows intriguing series

In the close of play press conference, R Ashwin defended his team's anger by suggesting that Trott had, in some unexplained way, acted inappropriately by striking a no-ball from Ravindra Jadeja to the boundary. The delivery rolled along the floor and finished somewhere around short-leg. The Laws are clear on the issue: Trott had every right to hit the ball. When bowlers start complaining about poor balls being hit for four, you know they are struggling.

Seriously, Ashwin? Is that all you could come up with? Please try sounding a little less like a clown the next time.

  16. Tweet from Sky Sports:

Dhoni and others 'discuss' appeal with umps.Curious as one of reasons BCCI is against DRS is "umpire's decision shouldn't be questioned"

WTF was that from Dhoni and Kohli? They have absolutely no right to question the umpire as they are the ones who are responsible for no DRS in this match. Pathetic behaviour! And the funny thing is Trott didn't even nick the ball

Also, LOL @ Dhoni showing frustration when his captaincy is at stake. Never seen that before from him.
