Not sure why Ponting retiring should mean Sachin should also retire, and as SA said he dis not go gracefully he just realized he has lost it, Sachin still belives he has in it him, and any way i do not think Rahane has in it him to replace him anyway, in the conditions in 2nd test match every one failed. One of the brightest stars of indian youngster brigade kohli hit a full toss to be caught.
Sachin has to go soon, no doubt about it, but Ponting is no benchmark or a reason to do so.
How will you know who has what in him if you don't even give him a chance to play?
If you remember, Kohli was the only batsman who scored a century in Australia. You can't judge him from a single dismissal. He has been the most stand out performer in the Indian team for the past 12 months.
I am not denying that Sachin is a good batsman and I know that there is no replacement for him in the current crop of youngsters. So what are you gonna do? Make him play for as long as there is a replacement?
I'm a big fan of Ponting. Though it pains me to see him retire, I know that he made the right decision. Even if he scores a century in the next test, it will still be the right decision because I just don't see him being consistent any more. Same goes for Sachin. You just can't expect him to be consistent at his age.

Yes, Ponting did have pressure to retire from a long time. But at least he had the grace to retire unlike Sachin who is shamelessly hogging a place in the team for god knows how long. He took a year and a half to score his 100th century....that too against Bangladesh. And IIRC, India even lost the match because of him. Forget contributing in a win, he has started contributing in losses :rofl:/>
And no one said that Ponting retired as soon as he dropped form. He himself admitted that he has been inconsistent for the past 18 months. Also, he made a huge contribution when Australia won against India. When was the last time Sachin played a match winning innings....or at least made a contribution to a win?

Funny! All I've been seeing for the past one year is complaining and whining and bitching about the "green tops" that the Indian players got in England/Australia and how we need to prepare dust bowls in India to return the favour. All this talk of a revenge series stems from the fact that the players and the Indian media are butt-hurt after being spanked in the last two overseas series.

It really isn't that bad. It's actually a very good movie. People making it look so bad only leads me to believe that it's become "cool" to bash Prometheus.
Watch it for yourself and decide. It's definitely worth a watch.

Just came back from watching the hobbit in 3d (48fps) and all I can say is my jaws literally dropped to the floor! The HFR makes the 3d effects and CG look even better. I don't know about the 24fps and 2d versions but the CG definitely didn't look fake. Oh and the movie was bright and vivid even with the 3d glasses.
The movie is meant to be seen in 48fps. Seriously, f**k all the haters. If you have the option to watch it in 48fps, please do so....at least once. I cannot recommend it enough!
