  1. Report and 30-second GIF:

    - On Friday night Bellator 123 took place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, and you can read the complete report at this link. Here are the highlights for you wrestling fans.

    • In a heavyweight fight, TNA World Champion Bobby Lashley (now 11-2) returned to MMA for the first time since November of 2013, and scored a second round submission over Josh Burns (now 8-8). Burns wasn't much competition for Lashley, who controlled the fight and won without much resistance. This was good news for TNA, who were risking a lot with their World Champion taking an MMA fight. Of note, Lashley had no sponsorships on his shorts, not even a TNA logo. While Lashley won the fight, he still showed some of the problems that have held him back in MMA. He couldn't finish his submissions (he had several attempts at a key lock) and due to his size and build, got tired. No word on when Lashley will fight again for Bellator. He has won four fights in a row, dating back to June of 2013.
    • In a light heavyweight fight, part time TNA performer King Mo (now 13-4) defeated Dustin Jacoby (now 10-4) via second round TKO. Mo controlled the striking against Jacoby, who is normally a middleweight and was a late replacement, Mo's third opponent as the other two fell out. Mo looked good, rebounding from his controversial loss to Rampage Jackson back in May. Mo stated that he was a, "Money-Weight Fighter" and will fight at middle, light heavy or heavyweight for Bellator. Mo is now 5-3 in Bellator, and 2-2 in his last four fights.
    • You can watch the finishes of both fights below…

  2. Bobby Lashley just won in his return to MMA at a Bellator event, which is happening as I type this. He becomes the only active wrestler to also compete simultaneously in MMA while still holding a World title(he did wrestle and fight simultaneously during his previous TNA run, but this time he fought while still being the TNA heavyweight champion). A lot of people were speculating that TNA would get the title off him if he lost, and it would be shameful for the company also, as he has been booked as a very dominant champion. Glad he didn't disappoint. :D

  3. I saw Primer a couple of months ago. Actually I watched with 2 of my friends, all of us do mathematics as a career, and even we were like "WTF did we just watch" after the movie. It's perhaps the most complicated movie ever made.

    - Vince Russo appeared on the Wrestle Reaction show discussing Raw and more. Check out the highlights as well as the full video:

On the Nikki Bella Raw segments: "It's difficult for me to criticize people, but I try to do it in a nice way. Nikki Bella is not a good actress. Now, you have to understand, these people are wrestlers. Acting isn't their forte. You're asking them to be good wrestlers and good actors. Some people are just good wrestlers and not good actors; those are the people you have to work with more. When they first started doing those backstage segments tonight, my first thought is "good"! They're protecting Nikki Bella. They know she's not a good actress. They're putting her in a pre-taped situation where, if it's bad, they can shut it down and do it over again. Then what do they do? They put her out there in the ring, in front of the people, on a live show where there is no net, no protection, and she's not a good actress. Something like that makes absolutely no sense! Look at the time we spent on that in-ring segment and at the end of the segment all we got was a shove. If the idea of that segment was for Stephanie McMahon to give Nikki Bella a Diva's Title shot, well then when she's in the back with Triple H, call Nikki into the office and do your business back there in 30 seconds. It doesn't warrant a 12 minute in-ring segment where nothing happened and you made your Diva's Champion Paige, the most valuable person in that ring, a supporting actress in the background. There was no point to that. At the end of the day, it was a waste of time!"

On the current WWE creative mindset: "When Ed and I were writing for WWE, we were not of the wrestling world. We were fans like you guys. So, we weren't "The Bookers" who had 25 years of experience in the wrestling business and did things only one way. We were fans, we came in fresh. We were writing from a fan perspective and what the fans wanted. That had a lot to do with the success of the Attitude Era. The minute Ed and I left to go to WCW, WWE went back to what they know and what they know is "wrestling". They have people working backstage, in their training facility, who have been wrestlers for years and years and that's the product that they put out there. Unfortunately, and Glenn Gilberti (The Disco Inferno) said it best on my show, "Wrestling does not draw". At the end of the day, the matches do not draw. It's everything else in between that draws. They don't know how to do that anymore. They're just doing what they know how to do and that's "wrestling"."

On Vince McMahon wanting The Rock vs Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31: "This is my opinion. I'm the biggest fan from the guys from my era and generation. I mark out when I see Shawn Michaels come out last week. When I see The Rock, I mark out. But, there has to come a point in time, in my opinion, where the WWE stops relying on that older talent to get a boost in the ratings. They have enough talent now. The talent is there. They have some guys that are unbelievable! That article I wrote for PyroandBallyhoo.com, where I talked about Rollins and the Shield, the fact that they split up the Shield and made stars out of all three is unbelievable! That is a great accomplishment by the WWE. They've got those guys, they've got Bray Wyatt, the talent is there. At some point, you have to start going with what you have and build that up. You have to stop relying on Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, as much as we love to see them, you gotta bring Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins to that level. I think Vince is out of his mind to go with Brock Lesnar vs The Rock. At some point, the future of the WWE has to be now! It can't be the Attitude Era, it has to be now!"

    The comments there are hilarious:

When Vince Russo is giving good , constructive, and well rounded feedback on your product you know you f**ked up.

  5.

Former TNA Writer Vince Russo recently spoke with Dameon Nelson of the Pro Wrestling Report. Russo speaks on his last run with TNA, rumored heat with SpikeTV and his opinions on the TNA and Spike negotiations and more.

On his last run with TNA:

I had been working with them just as a consultant since October (2013) so i was there for the last 10 months. I was told by John Gaburick , i guess he is vice president of talent and creative that he told spike of my involvement in working with TNA in January. so to set the record straight, if John Gaburick is telling the truth and I have no reason doubt him, spike knew about my involvement with TNA going back to January. To say that Spike found out around it right around the time contract negotiations broke down, That is just an untruth.

Rumors that Spike and TNA came to a stalemate because of him:

That’s just ignorance. Somebody who has no idea about how negotiations between a network and a show on a network. That’s millions and millions of dollars that go well beyond a Vince Russo. That’s just from people that have no understanding how the business works.

Whether he has any direct relationship with anyone at SpikeTV:

I can tell you this. When i was at TNA. When i wrote for TNA. When i was head of creative, My ratings drew at around a 1.4 or something. At around the same time. I found out through a third party that a representative at spike, A high ranking one at Spike said a sarcastic comment about me. To be honest with you that took me off guard. This was a time when the network and TNA were doing an all-time ratings high. The audience was larger than it had ever been and then i find out through a third party that a sarcastic comment was made about me.

Then i would always get the run-around when i would try to get to the bottom of this. People would say ‘well, he didn’t mean anything by it.’ or ‘that was taken out of context’ or whatever the case. But that was the only time I ever heard of any heat from that side of the story.

Lying about his consulting position with TNA:

From the get-go my job at TNA hinged at nobody knowing i worked for them. It was going to be secretive. I didn’t like that from the get-go. I don’t like to be dishonest and not being in the open and to hide things. I don’t like that and i felt very uncomfortable. The fact of the matter is, that’s what Dixie Carter wanted. I did my best for 10 months and do the best i could do for what they wanted.

His thoughts on why he was asked to re-join the company back in October 2013 and why it was kept a secret for so long:

When they first signed me on, Eric Bischoff was still very hands on with the product. I thought that they just didn’t want Eric Bischoff to know that Vince Russo was back working on the product in a consulting role. As everyone knows, soon after Eric Bischoff was sent home. Yet the secret still remained. I think that Dixie may have just been afraid about the feedback she would get from the internet community about what their feelings would be to have Vince Russo back working with TNA.

Why he thinks the Internet Wrestling Community hates him:

Here’s the thing. I’ve been working in wrestling for over 20 years now. No nobody from this internet wrestling community has ever approached me or confronted me about anything. They just report what they have heard from another party. What they heard from hearsay. What they heard from this ‘source’ that nobody knows about. Nobody has ever dared to confront me as you and I are having this conversation right now.

The point is this. the internet wrestling community is just a small part of the audience. My job as a creator is to make the highest rating i possibly could. When you are talking about high ratings you need to talk about the appeal to the masses. When you need to appeal to the masses you can’t exactly do things the internet wrestling community wants you to do them. You are more or less going after a broader appeal of that casual fan. So because i did not represent wrestling the way they (The internet wrestling community) wants it. That’s what started the personal attacks ‘I’m a moron, I’m an idiot, I don’t know what I’m doing’

What he thinks of the issues between SpikeTV and TNA

I’ve been holding this back for years and I finally get to say this. I felt like Hannibal Lector when he was strapped in and had his mouth wired shut. SpikeTV is a horrible partner. Why TNA would ever want to partner with Spike is beyond me unless there were no other options. If SpikeTV were the only option to stay on television then I would understand it. They are a horrible partner, they know nothing about the wrestling business. The way they advertised and marketed the program over the years was absolutely atrocious.

I can tell you this from a position where I worked with the USA network. I worked directly with Bonnie Hammer. She was the female version of Vince McMahon. She knew what she was doing. When you had Bonnie Hammer at USA and Vince McMahon, the sky was the limit. If TNA signs another deal with SpikeTV great for them. It will move along for another two years and everyone will work but the product will not grow on SpikeTV. My hope for TNA is that a new network comes along and embraces TNA and gives them the time and investment to help grow the product. I can’t say this enough. TNA ON SPIKE TV WILL NEVER GROW!

    His relationship with Dixie Carter:

You know here is the thing. I’ve worked with Dixie Carter for over 10 years now. Every time i sat back and watched while Dixie brought in new leader after new leader. I know full well how things were going to turn out and where it was heading. But my job was the television part so I never got involved. I always took on this attitude of looking out for Dixie Carter and looking out for her interest and i think Dixie knows that. That’s why I think there will always be a relationship between us. I just wanted to have the best television show and protect her.

On Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff coming into TNA:

You know here is the thing. I don’t know. I’m not privy to how much they made. I don’t know how much they affected international markets. I didn’t look into how much business they were able to ascertain with the Hulk Hogan name in other markets. I never looked into that. In terms of the impact they made on a week to week television show, I can say that it just wasn’t there. I don’t think it was realistic that some people thought that the rating was going to go from a 1.4 or whatever it was to a 2.4 or 3.4. It doesn’t work that way. But i also thought it was never going to work from the get-go to be honest with you.

    - AJ Styles recently spoke with Slam Wrestling, here are the highlights…

On now not being the right time to go to WWE: "It sure doesn't seem like the right time to be going to WWE. I think the best place for me right now is New Japan. I'm happy with everything that's going on there right now."

On retiring in New Japan Pro Wrestling: "At this point, I would be more than happy at some point in my career to just retire from New Japan. The respect that they have shown me … and I'm not talking about being the heavyweight champion … I'm talking about just overall treating me with respect and treating me like a star and trusting me to have great matches with guys I've never even been in the ring with. That means a lot to me. I hope that they see that 'this guy's going to help us out in the long run … he's a team player.' And I'd be more to, when my time comes to retire, to retire from New Japan Pro Wrestling."

AJ Styles = The modern Sting, only way more talented.

Can't dispute his veiwpoint about not going to the WWE either, as they'll probably put him on NXT. Anyone who thinks that someone who has topped PWI 500 rankings before(and is a strong contender to do that again this year) is only fit for a developmental contract is just delusional.
