  1. Avoid the bunk called VS450W, a better buy is the slightly more expensive Corsair CX v2430W ~2700/-.

For processor try to go for the Core i3 3220 over the Core i3 2120 for purely Ivy-Bridge goodness and complete compatibility with the GIGABYTE motherboard suggested.

Where are you sourcing the PC from? Dependent on that even the cabinet tower might change.

    Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Is Ivy Bridge i3 available yet? If so, then that's a no-brainer.

  2. Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Motherboard - Rs 4500

    i3-2100 Sandy Bridge 3.1 Ghz CPU - Rs 6850

    GSkill Ripjaws 4Gbx1 RAM @ 1600MHz - Rs 1675

    NZXT GAMA-001BK ATX Mid-tower cabinet - Rs 2500

Corsair VS450 Builder Series PSU - Rs 2450

Total comes at around 18k. You can upgrade with another one of those RAM modules later(as they are so cheap). Also, I'd suggest to wait till Ivy Bridge i3 processors hit the market, as their integrated graphics chipset will at least be able to perform better in older games.

  3.

And people who get sick of the metro(which I know most of you will :P) get you start button back with "CLASSIC SHELL" google it and get it!

I stack up all my apps/games on the metro and with a point over the start and middle click takes me to metro! Launch app from there for the rest of the work, dear old desktop!

Repped. The Metro UI totally sealed the deal for me against Windows 8 in the consumer preview. Can we click the "Windows button" on the keyboard to get our usual start menu with this?

  4. Bad news. Brother is not coming in December. Will come in April-May. My entire rig was purchased keeping in view that I would get a killer GPU from USA. Now that I've bought everything else with that in mind, I really am in no position to buy a GPU from here. So don't know what I'll do. It may still happen if I get hold of someone else coming back from US. Otherwise I'll have to wait another 4-5 months. :censored:

In the meantime, I also looked at some7970 GHz editions, which are comparable/faster than a GTX 680, but at a cheaper price. I wanted to go the nVidia route due to it having better 3D support(for a possible 3D monitor upgrade in the future). Are there any other advantages of going with nVidia?

I think I'll buy just a SSD from Amazon on this Black Friday, since it's so light that self-importing is not much of a hassle. With the unexpected change of schedule of my brother, I don't have any choice but to postpone GPU purchase till next year March/April. Maybe GTX 700 series or AMD 8000 series will have launched by then. Till then, I can focus on my huge backlog on PS3/360.

Will buy and install Windows 7 permanently once I get that SSD, as I don't want the hassles of changing storage locations of Windows system partitions.

  5. I know that Ph3nom but there is very little I can do to change the pricing side of the story.

Are there no other ASUS cards (barring the Direct CU II edition) on Amazon.com?

Plus, Black Friday sale will shake things up, so we can wait and watch for now, along with scouting for a few other option (from ASUS and other brands). Cheerio!
