But he's said that he is as good as gone, indirectly. You think that is a smokescreen?

please read the post (part where moyes says roo is not for sale) directly above mine when i made the said post.

  2. Shows that internet sentiment isn't always an indication of how something will do when it comes to making money :|

 always ?? since when has internet sentiment ever been the primary indication of real world's psyche ? Any movie will do well only if a mass population goes to see it. Sometimes the masses are in sync with internet denizens and we have Avengers and TDK. The internet really needs to do an introspection. And i dont think it (or any movie for that matter) gets a wide love on the internet, as it being the internet, houses many lame trolls. Just take a casual trip to imdb and see the pathetic hate mongers in action.

As for Pacific rim, well it was obvious that Grown ups 2 will do very well. The first movie was good and adam sandler has a very huge female backing up. any guy would any day choose an adam sandler movie over a chick flick when his female partner gives him a choice when asking to accompany her to a movie.

Also between Iron man, 2 movies about us president in danger, oblivion, world war z, after earth.. there have been a lot of large scale planet destruction this summer, maybe general population is just tired. Pacific Rim is an excellent movie but it suffered from poor marketing. I have hopes though, the movie has good critic reviews and word of mouth will carry it. I can see the movie having good legs and running in theaters a fair bit long. Grown ups 2 will fizzle out after initial week- 10 days but not Pacific Rim, dvd-blu ray sales will pep it further.

  3. @ athek, GS, abhinit and others.

I got the bill and main expenses were for Engine oil (synthetic), nozzle and 1 lakh km inspection, and near 4k for labor charges. Does it seem all right or do i have to scout another service centre for the next time ?

Yeah, that's their usual story. Call up to inform of a 'problem' in an ambiguous area of the vehicle, of which there are many, and laugh and laugh and laugh. You did the right thing, asked them for their recommendations for evaluation in writing.

Did so and this is what they gave-

    1. Change of disc brake of one wheel- 3500 + labor.

    2. Shock Absorber (part change, said some fluid is leaking)- 1900 + labor

    3. Suspension support (part change)- 560 + labor

    Total comes to INR 7810.

Seems too much. Brakes work fine as per my observation, the driver said so as well. Shock absorber's fluid leak looks to be a genuine problem how ever. Do you (and others) think it is better to get it done from outside ?

Again, I really do not get paid by Apple or anything, but I simply cannot tolerate people writing good stuff off because they just do not know enough about it. There is a reason that there is a very famous saying - "Once you go Mac you never go back"

I have worked all my life on windows, and probably will for a living, but that does not take away that fact that it is a shitty OS. Nothing can change that and I will not turn a blind eye to it.

from an everyday user's point of view, mac os is any day better than windows. I have a mac pro that runs OS 10.7 and a HP laptop with windows 7, ie both with 2nd latest os of their respective companies. The hp laptop is more powerful than mac, specific details aside, it can play Max payne 3 while mac cannot, maybe cause mac i have doesnt have a dedicated graphics card, but both are late 2011-early2012 make.

Mac runs faster and smoother than the HP. It boots up faster, loads stuff up faster and gives less (almost none) annoying updates than the win7.

I (and the hp user in my family) use the laptops for basic day to day work, internet, documents, videos, music and photo uploads. No heavy stuff. Dont know how many babies have been sacrificed (allegedly) in making of Jobs' dream but it sure as hell delivers. I am firmly in the "once you go Mac you dont go back" faction. Phone choice is flip flop as lack of bluetooth and general compatibility with other phones and PCs in iphone makes it a difficult choice for a portable pocket gadget over android, but for laptop macbook is where i feel most at home.

  5. yeah labor cost and ambience, same reason why tasteless gobhi costs 700/- in a 5* as compared to a similar tasteless version at home.

They called me up and said that shocker at one wheel and a break pad is showing some problems, the breaks were properly assessed at the same joint 3 months ago :|

I asked them to not do that and instead have asked the driver to get their 'recommendations' in writing so i can asses them with some outside help.

Am waiting to see what all they have added in the bill. This whole act is not looking very transparent.

  6. Ask then for a specific break up, regarding what they are going to do in the servicing. Always get a qoute from another service center if u feel that costs are too high. Sometimes the difference is huge

hmm. ok. Anything specific that one has to look for ? you know, the kind of costs the service center guys put in needlessly, fixing things that are perfect.

    13,000 for maintenance :O

yeah :| at first i thought it is ok due to service post 1 lakh run, but after some time it seemed way too high.

  7. Guys I have a query regarding Servicing costs.

We have an Innova that has done 1,00,000 kms. The nearest Toyota center is giving an estimate of 13,000 rupees (no beautification). 12,400 for basic servicing and 600 for horn replacement. Now is this a normal expense for Innova with 1 lakh kms ?

Abhi toh higher ups have approved this particular servicing, i was not there when the car was taken so will get to know the break up of the cost only once the bill is produced but as far as i know there was no abnormal occurrence with the car. Recently it went till rohtang pass and back (from ncr) and as per the driver it gave no problem.

So, anyone with some experience here, my question is that is this cost expected or not ? also what measures should i take to ensure that i am not being ripped off here, or at any time in future when we have to take a vehicle for maintenance and servicing.

    Thank you.

  8. @ samu bhai

Shatter proof coated film? what is that? why would they purposefully cut a chunk of square off the whole exterior only to place a protruding sticker

If the whole surface with sticker was even then there was the logic of making space for the sticker sign, otherwise the fact that it gives some elevation means that it is pasted/glued on the regular back cover.

I was unclear about the purpose of the sign, thought that maybe theres some super hidden antenna in it, but all I have gathered is that it shows the exact location where one should do the touching bit for the NFC.

    ...

  9. When afridi is in the zone there is no one that can match him. One of his innings is etched in my memory. I happened to see it live. April 2005 in kanpur. Odi.

Spiteful, turning uneven typical green park pitch. India batted first and made a laboured but laudable 249. Shahid Afridi choke-slammed all conventional thinking by making/beating a 46 ball 102 literally driving indian bowlers to tears.

I mean that was a pitch where all indian batsmen except dravid and kaif, technically the most sound basment of that time/team, failed against a pak bowling that had rana naved and mr. sania mirza as its spearhead, so you know the pitch was tough.

    But afridi was just :majesty:

And pak won with a final run rate of under 6, meaning no other player from pak had it as easy as afridi.

  10. A question for fellow xperia Z users.

There is this NFC sticker on the back of my phone, a calligraphic 'N'. It looked kind of odd at the beginning but wasnt creating any problem so I didnt think much of it. Yesterday I saw that the said sticker has its edges chipped and there are some white scratchy marks on its black/gray engraving. It is only the sticker that has been affected, the rest of the exterior is perfect. I am guessing the mangled sticker sign is due to keeping the phone on wooden and marble table top.

Can I remove this sticker easily? I mean can it be removed w/o any problem? And more importantly, is it anything else than a sticker ?

And before anyone patronizes me of not getting a cover, let me say beforehand that I do not use any case/cover/guard on my phone, never have and never will, a choice made purely on aesthetic preference. Any guard/cover no matter how thin robs some of experience one would get if they use the phone in its absolute virgin pristine form. Some say a 30k plus phone needs to be preserved. And I say you can do all that without resorting to have a phone condom covering it and instead being a little more careful; whats the point of 30k plus phone if you cant even use it in its full glory.

Custom cases (for the back only) with pop culture reference pics is a different thing and I would love to have 3-4 of them, but sadly havent found anywhere.

  11. Twin peaks is freaking epic. Huge fan of surreal horror here.

You can pretty much pin point every good horror/supernatural thriller movie and video game in the last 2 decades as having drawn inspiration in one way or other from this show.

    Love it :D
