I use the stock Walkman player, i find it pretty good.
Stock WALKMAN applications is good in my opinion.
Else people say MX player is also good.
Walkman is very good no doubt but it has the annoyance that when you have a song playing, pressing/touching the all purpose BACK button on the phone takes it to the menu screen where all the app icons are listed. In order to go to the song library one has to press the 'my music' area and then it goes to the song list.
I have a habit of going to the music/song list by using the back button, did so in all the phones, ipods (menu press) i have used.

In case my post wasn't clear, I expect those plot holes / common-sense-fails to happen and DO NOT CARE (made that sufficiently clear in my post). I enjoyed the movie and would gladly sit through it a few more times for the robot-on-Kaiju badassery.
That earlier part of my previous part was not aimed at you. I got the willingness to suspend disbelief declaration in your post. That is why i addressed you separately.

There is a proper distinction between movies like pacific rim and transformers. Identify that nitwits.

I am sorry to say this but I am baffled by the number of problems I have seen reported here about Z
Hmmm.. Kind of scary, yes. So far I have just had the strange brown-red tint on the screen (which rectified itself post a restart) and that too after the 4.2.2 update.
Hope it was a random glitch and phone stays fine otherwise. Apart from that it hasnt given me a problem.

Well done, GDT. Michael Bay and Zack Snyder should take lessons from this guy.
you know what, GDT would be a good choice for next wave of batman movies. he wont be caught up with the 'realism' boner and will give a true to comics batman movie with all the mystique without making it campy.

Why is it surprising to see sportsmen being Hypocrites ?
They are there to win stuff. games they play are hard and uncompromising.
It is not like they are cheating or anything. They arent forcing the umpire to give wrong decisions in their favor, but at the same time it would be stupid to expect them to turn away such gifts. And yes this also does not mean that they dont have the right to complain if any wrong decision goes against them.

I so completely agree.
There was no proper romantic development between them and if they kissed it would seem like it's just for the sake of having a kiss between the leads because 'thats how its supposed to be'. I like the idea that they did get close to each other as friends.
However, there's a scene in the movie where, as they're gearing up in the Jaiger, Rayleigh tells her "I've never had good timing. I want to tell you something" and then it cuts to something else and that part is never touched upon again. So, MAYBE GDT was intending something romantic but decided to cut it out at the last moment.
Yup, that is what i meant by mild flirting. It always struck as something very odd when in midst of a world ending calamity two total strangers (particularly the arch typical "i cant keep my dick in my pants" jock) find time to spend precious hours wooing each other. GDT handled it really well, he showed some feeling of affection and respect building between the pair but also steered away from giving the romance building to take of screen time, in fact there was no overt display of any such thing. All he showed was "these tow people care about each other and might become involved later, but that is after apocalypse has been cancelled and if they both survive".
and thank god for not turning the end scene into a james bond/fifth element type public sexy time ending with a cheesy line of 'employing diplomatic bondings'. The blond guy and mako just smiled and hugged like two friends accomplishing and surviving a job well done.

Okay. Here's the problem with Pacific Rim. The movie is too dark. Each and every 'epic' fight scene is without daylight, or even proper ambient light. Infact, the only scene in daylight is quite literally the absolute last scene in the movie.

there was a dayight fight scene when Striker Eureka is shown for the first time in action at the sydney harbor Albeit it was on tv and was barely half a minute. Would have loved to see more of that, Hansen looked in total swagger zone.
as for your complaints-
1. True that air force is still there but what is the point of using them when they are not effective at all. The planes would be like flies to the kaiju, would not slow it down in any way and will actually cause loss of man power and important resources (jets arent cheap to built). Another thing is that who is to say the attacks from planes wont hurt Jaeger by mistake. Kaiju and jaeger always go hand to hand and it'd be very difficult for the plane to exclusively hit the reptile. The jets cant hover at one spot like a chopper and wait for the jaeger to throw the kaiju at a safe hitting zone, they have to be constantly moving and as such it becomes difficult for the pilots in the robot to co-ordinate with those in the jets. And this is assuming that the planes have the arsenal capable enough to hurt the beings the size and power of a kaiju and a jaeger.
They cannot use nuclear power (from jets if you are asking that) at a kaiju directly on land as kaijus have highly acidic blood. It is explained very early in the movie. If they blow up them the parts and residue goes flying in every direction and cause many other problems to people living. Also you have to factor in the collateral damage caused by a nuclear bomb in the first place. These methods to kill a kaiju will cause more harm to local civilization than the kaiju would itself.
Allmost all the weapons used by jaegers have that one property of star wars' light saber. They seal (or try their best to) the wound they make in the kaiju so as little blood as possible is spilled.

That was a great feature included only in sony phones in gingerbread/froyo but God knows why did they remove it. I'm sure its not a bug, sony removed it after the update. Though it was long gone when ICS was released. I'm on CM which have both methods so no problem with me.

Damn that Pacific Rim main theme is so epic....

I dont know what it is about the theme but it just sounds so godly, uplifting and heroic. Kind of like the MI2 theme but more suited for a team than mi2's individualistic score.
I can cancel all kinds of apocalypse when it is playing, hell i can even march into Hell and return to the sound of this theme.
I want this as my entrance theme every time i walk into a room. It is the kind of music when you hear you know no matter of the depth of sh*t you are in, day is going to be saved by.. someone.. anyone. So epic indeed

guys what is the deal with Xperia Z's screen shot command ? earlier (before 4.2.2) it was a simple matter of long pressing the power button and a window creeped up having options of 'airplane mode', 'power off', 'screenshot capture' and different sound modes. But now there is no screen shot capture option there. the screen can be captured only by long pressing the power button and the volume down button.
what is this ? why remove a perfectly good feature ? assuming it is removed in the update and it is not a bug that i alone am facing. So, is this a bug ?

Top omfg moments in Pacific Rim-
-Crimson Typhoon twists its hips and gives an overhead back slam to the kaiju.
-Gypsey slices the kaiju underwater in half using the sword.
-Gypsey dragging the cargo ship in hong kong streets like a base ball bat.
-The under water nuke detonation scene when Striker Eureka self sacrifices itself, the part where water is just forced away by the nuke shock waves creating a water less vaccum on the freaking pacific sea floor and then moments later all the displaced water comes rushing back. Did i mention it was on the sea bed, like inside the ocean. Damn that was one epic visual.
The (only) disappointing part of the movie-
The way Cherno Alpha was destroyed and the amount of screen time it got. Man that was sad
The Russian bot was introduced as the most powerful in terms of raw strength and i was hoping to see it in more scenes (i admit, i have a crush on Russia ). Agreed it was a us movie and so russia would never be the top dog but still i'd have liked to see Cherno Alpha being all badass and then heroically sacrificing itself near the end by taking on 2-3 kaijus all alone allowing the yoo ess aey and australia to save the day. -
For me having loads of money alone doesn't makes you a big club. You have to earn it by winning consistently through a seriously good amount of time to be considered as one of 'the biggest clubs'
agreed, but what about maintaining that good record ? if winning constantly and over a period of time makes a club Big, then surely not winning over a big enough period should be reasons to not consider it a big club in 'contemporary' times, should not it ?
I mean for all the song and dance about ye olde past ultimately it boils down to what the fans are witnessing in the present period of their life time.
p.s. not targeting liverpool by this post.

Just back for Pacific Rim.
One word review: WHOA !!
The movie is incredible. The fight scenes are well choreographed and have the perfect feel of an epic scale. The sound track is adrenaline pumping without being too in your face, unlike the indiscriminate use of heavy metal that most action movies use nowdays. It is a bit weak on the plot but we dont have michael bay levels of holes. the story is enough to sustain the viewers' interest and give nice explanation for the reason we see the characters going from point A to B. The fact that the movie doesnt take the heavy metaphorical/philosophical route and keeps it simple without turning into a joke is my most loved part. Almost every time we see directors ham fist some deep meaning running down the plot like racial tension, need for brother hood, human greed or environment damage in an action movie and end up having a myriad of themes resulting in a convoluted mess. Not here. There is a brief mention about global warming and that is it. The main point is that big a*s monsters are coming for what ever reason and we have to defend ourselves, and this is displayed in most excellent fashion.
Action scenes are obviously the hi-light of the movie and it does not disappoint here. One has to see it to believe them. Fights dont not seem comical and look every bit of bone shattering ruthless awesome as a punch delivered by a 350 ft robot to a 400 ft reptile would do.
The characters did their job. Charlie day was the typical annoying but well meaning nerd while Idris Elba is a total badass motherf**ker. I mean that is the kind of general you'd want to lead an armed resistance. The main character (if you can call him that, imo there was no one single protagonist) ironically was quite forgettable but not in a bad way. Rinku Kikuchi was so so
:wub: so lovely !! Mad props to the director for not sexualizing her. Not a single kiss scene in the movie, nor is there any skin show. Mild flirting is there near the end but nothing cringeworthy. Mad props to G. Del Toro for using Mako Mori as a character and not as woman character.All in all, Go watch it.

I had a weird screen experience with my Z last night. Had finally updated to the new android and was fiddling with it. Suddenly out of nowhere the screen and keypad (which is in the black color layout) turned brown with red tint, something like the color of Rust.
It did not happen in front of me, as in i didnt see the transformation. I used it, then locked the screen and tended to business elsewhere and 2-3 mins later when i unlocked the phone with a screen swipe i saw it. the phone was normal before that. It worked fine apart from the the rust colored appearance. It had not been dropped anywhere.
I tinkered with display options but nothing helped. Then i turned the phone off and did a restart and everything went back to normal. It is ok as of now.
question-
1. Is this occurrence a cause for worry ? or is it a random, normally harmless glitch.
2. Do i have a defective piece ? It is less than 2 weeks old.
