Why on earth would he want to run on top of a train? Why not beside it?
lol dunno. maybe to show case his awesome skills that inexplicably never materialized on track

Just finished watching GOON (2011).
Awesome movie, if you love bare knuckle fight scenes. Never knew Sean Williams Scott could act.
Also Liev Shrieber (or whatever his correct spelling is) was amazing too with his IRRRRISH brogue.
Stifler !!! gotta check this out.
Liev schreiber is a very very good actor. Pity he doesnt come in movies that much, he is more a stage actor (and a very accomplished one at that). I guess that kind of builds his mystique.
Thanks for informing about this movie.

Sedan is an overhyped segment for city driving. If you and possibly one more person only use the car most of the time it's better to get a hot hatch. They are much better when finding parking spots, for quick u turns, narrow streets etc.
Sedans are the best for high speed highway driving though.
+1
City driving with a sedan is very trouble some. At lest in a hatch you get space to maneuver and in a Suv you get presence and begrudging respect from elements on the road. And this is coming from purely ncr driving experience where the roads are for most part big and wide (the unruly traffic sense cancels most of the effect but that is universal in india), cant even imagine how it is like in other big crowded cities with narrower driving space.

Why isn't anybody talking about how godawfully uneven the wicket was ? TBH that one that went through Rohit was a disgrace. Now , WI isn't new to bad arrangements ( not necessarily bad curators ) . If it were only a tad worse than this it would've been compared to the legend of sabina park.
Curious as to why no one raises hue and cry about 'sh*t pitch' when it is flat and bald becoming a grave yard for bowlers ?

or it is un-sporting like only when batsmen start having even a little trouble ?

I take it back.. bhaag milkha, is a terrible movie..
one question, does the scene shown in trailer where milkha runs on top of a moving train actually happens ? or is it a dream/motivation/metaphorical sequence.
Because after seeing that on numerous tv spots i had only one thing in mind that- "they had better show some sort of witch craft and dark force enabled sabotage to give a believable reason as to why Milkha Singh never amounted to anything beyond asian events (asia in general is not renowned for athletics) and common wealth games (a tame competition to begin with) even after having the ability and bollocks to pull the said stunt in real life."

my 2 cents here-
Idiotic fans are everywhere. there are people who jump on any passing hyped bandwagon and become fans of the flavored club of the year/s without knowing jack sh*t about the sport, its history and even the club in general and then there are people who take pride in their supposed 'real-ness' as fans and ridicule fans of a present successful club by identifying them with the former group of plastics and believe that just because their team has not done anything good and still they have stuck around some how gives them a higher moral authority.
Now both these groups entail equal amounts of retard and it is best if we keep atlest this forum clean of them.
Also we have to accept that because of our geographical location vis a vis europe, any one's favorite club will invariably materialize having some unavoidable bias, either trophies in present or feverishly woven lore of the past or a particular player or even the design of the kit. I mean it is not as if we have any local sentiments or culture/environment around us that would push us to any one specific club.

A club is the biggest when it has the biggest fan base not most value in terms of money.
We have biggest fan base and are 2nd in brand value according to forbes.
Deal with it.

No. We aint dealing with nothing.

There is no way to round up all the numbers pertaining to fan base. If there is, do tell. If one goes by facebook likes (cause why not, when dominant political parties are brandishing facebook numbers as an irrefutable evidence of their mass support :|) then Barca is at the top. If you go by the revenue, a number which incidenlty matters much more than individual people to the club, then Real madrid is biggest entity.
oh and those survey of 1000 or 10000 people dosent count. far too small a sample.

Sort of want?

Also no shitty subtitles for an otherwise epic movie !!

Zinda was a bollywood remake of Oldboy

I know i have posted this before (and elicited some pukes from people here, afty included) but it never gets OLD-

As far as it being good. It could be good. There is room for improvement in the original. Spike Lee is pretty capable. And Josh Brolin is VERY talented. So who knows.
+2. Not sold on Lee as a director, he has had a very mixed record but then again he is no bay (thank god). It is the star cast that is doing the trick for me. Borlin, Sharlto Copley and Sam L Jackson !!

Once more unto the breach,
Depending on functionality, the remote is going to set you back by ~$100 -->$500, to keep things sane we get two of these. A phone costs ~$250 for a competent piece which can handle all the above shenanigans, again two of these. Certified wall panels and controllers cost ~6000/- INR -->25000/- depending on brand, support and functionality, installation charges extra. Small motors and servos will have to be installed irrespective of the jugaad path or official path if you want to manipulate blinds and so on.
Compared to branded components cobbling together stuff like Raspberry Pi ($50), USB Wi-Fi receiver ($15) / IR receiver ($15) into something functional is cheaper, the numbers speak for themselves.
And the fear of not embarking down the road is what keeps certain brands afloat.
It is not about finding pleasure, it is your knowledge and how to apply it practically. Maybe going through the motions of installing a DiY / jugaad system for such purposes would not appeal to my Mamu (or parents) or the older generation because of their lack of understanding and patience with the system. But for peeps like Shantz who have a passion and wish to keep themselves ahead of the learning curve on topic it is a good way to kill time and learn / apply what they already know.
Redundancy is at the core of it. If building a smart-home (horrible pun intended) means that you become too lazy to punch a few buttons you don't need all these fancy gadgets, you need a psychiatrist. Also, ~20 -->25 ft. range ain't bad for standby.
Hope this gets the point across. Cheers!
That was helpful. Thanks for the explanation Apha.

Bayern are building a formidable side indeed, but i am at odds to see how they will manage to keep all the players happy wrt game time. Bundelsiga, while not as segregated as la liga in terms of heavy hitters, is still no epl or sire a. Bayern Munich was always the most dominant team and after 5-6 years of hiccups last season it showed its abject superiority. What i am saying it they wont be getting much competition locally, bVb is the only side that can give them a serious challenge. Add to that the fact that german league has 18 teams ergo 4 matches less per team and if they crash out of europe early (can happen, knock outs are tricky) we are looking at a dressing room full of stars (some legit, some hyped) with a handful of game and sub standard challenge attracting lukewarm motivation.
Pep will have his hands full when it comes to player managing more than actual game.

The fact that this post materialized after 2 (probably 3) months from the day of its mention is more surprising than the horrors it contains

What i mean is this
Strikers who depend on height struggle in premiership
Majority Serie A Imports have struggled to be a huge success in the BPL
For the first part, when a player who uses his air strength fails in pl it isnt because he relies on his built and altitude, it is because he relies only on that. It is the same with any other one trick pony like Pacy road runners who set lower leagues on fire but find life hard upstairs.
I do agree that it is easier to bully in sire a using one's height and probably that is why some players have contrasting performances in pl.
As for the latter, I'd pin it more on the difference in the nature of play than anything else. Even players going from pl there in recent times have not done anything worthwhile. Bendtner for example has performed actually worse than his arsenal days.
-
@nemo i wasn't joking.
Could you please be more lucid?
-
Lets answer your questions, one by one shall we.
- Yes it does, when you can use bare bones like Raspberry Pi and an Android smartphone (one) to control your custom features, it does make the entire system a lot easier on the pocket.
- A proper automated system with a brand badge on it promises nothing that cannot be achieved by tinkering this home-made system itself. In-fact when you do a colloquial 'jugaad' you have much more control over the entire set-up than a completely assembled package. Think of it like the Assembled PC vs. pre-built PC argument.
- It all depends on what interface you are using to control the individual systems. If they work on an IR (Infra-Red) system as well for redundancy then yes if Wi-Fi or data connection is lost, it does not amount to loosing control over your appliances. You just switch over to the IR method but deal with a limited range.
1. Give me some numbers if you are confident that this will be substantially cheaper than a universal remote. Not doubting you but I want to see it. So far nowhere is its all inclusive cost mentioned compared to a pre installed univ remote system.
2. Yeeeahh.. Well the whole idea of 'jugaad' and DIY is kind of romanticized tbh. I mean it is ok if you are building actual stuff with bare hands in the shed out in the yard but when it comes to technical stuff regarding things that have become almost indispensable like light and Insulation it is better to have it done with a peace of mind than tinker it all day long. Even if one finds joy in that, there would only be a handful of people who'd have the proper know how to go about it. Dont see a majority finding pleasure in this.
3. Isnt infrared limited to really shitty range? kind of defeats the whole purpose of badass jetsons life doesnt it? Anyway it is good if they incorporate IR and RF along with internet. Purely dependent on wifi and net could mean long exasperated moments when there's a net downtime :/

@shantz
Bhai zabardasti ke irrelevant jokes banane ke alawa kabhi topic par bhi aaya karo.
Smart phone brings portability. Are you telling me that a remote to dim the lights (which totally exists) is any bigger than a normal smartphone?
Also the stuff that fits in the phone is used in places other than the house, perhaps even moreso than it is put in use IN the house. Thus I can see why i'd be needing a smartphone that has an assortment of gadgets (phone, camera, song and video player and internet's access) but I dont see a single situation on this realm of existance where i'd require a device to tune the basic eletircal utilities of my house when I am out of my house. This was in response to your idea that lack of enthusiasm for android house automation and need for smartphone should only be mutually exclusive.
I get it that it sort of centralises everything in the phone and that is good and everything, just dont see why it is such a huge deal.
-Does it cut down on costs (in a substantial manner) from the regular non android/phone home automation that uses 2-3 fist sized remotes ?
-Does it make things any simpler than having a proper automated system pre installed? not talking about all in 1 device but the whole process of setting up the structure.
-Does it offer a simple alternative in case wifi/internet is down?
Precise voice commands that work flawlessly deserve accolades, not this. It is ok, and lets just leave it at that.
...
-
Meh.. What is the point if you have to hold the phone and need to pass sound (voice) through that.
How is it radically different from a remote? sure it brings everything in one single device but other than that I dont see any reason for getting orgasms. Then again I was never a fan of having a remote for every damn thing (tv, a/c is ok. Tubelight remote is just sloth) and my interest is more in actual precise voice commands, that dont need a median device, purely for the sense of awe.

Yeah I have the same doubt, 6ft is not tall enough to require a seperate class as defined by height in terms of european football, particularly when you have africans or players with african genes coming in at greater numbers.
-
Actually my reference was more towards height. Many tall strikers do well in other leagues but in the BPL which is the land of giants, their advantage gets nullified. Hence many tall strikers have failed like Morientes. Bianchi, Silenzi, Maccarone; Bernardo Corradi,
Also strikers from Serie A who failed Andrea Silenzi, Massimo Maccarone, Rolando Bianchi, Adrian Mutu, Shevchenko and Crespo
Well the italian league's imports there is the chance that it could be correlation but not a causation. It could be that the strikers that come, most arent that able. I fail to see the connection between height, sire a and failure in pl.
Or do you mean that players who are relatively tall in sire a and use those inches to their advantage suddenly find themselves to be not that tall and imposing in pl and thus lose their 'uniqueness'?
Also am curious about your defination of Tall. Mutu is under 6ft and sheva and maccaronne barely touch that height.
P.s. Hernan crespo scored 20 in 49 pl appearances. While that is not a scorching the charts statistic, it still is very respectable return. His flip flop movements were due to home sickness he had for Italy, family's settlement, etc.
-
Good news regarding Mark swaz-dont know rest of the spelling coming to chelsea. He may be 41 but is a damn fine shot stopper. Will be a very good backup to cech.
Check how many tall strikers from Serie A did well in the premiership.
Umm.. What has height to do with a prediction? That is quite a specific criteria you are using to generalise.
I mean I can understand if one would mention 'strikers from sire a' or even 'south american strikers from sire a' and their performance as such upon arriving in PL; but this height thing confuses me. Also it isnt as if cavani is abnormally tall or short..

...
-
14yo Indian footballer.. nice.
Indian origin to be more specific. Otherwise toh we have had Michael Chopra playing and scoring for good clubs in PL.
-
Thanks joe. I Was apprehensive cause it gave Buffy vibes from the description.
Only glitch is that it is 8 seasons long with over 20 eps in some seasons. That is a lot of back log to catch.
Should be giving it a spin soon.

Guys how is "Supernatural" ? The US tv show?
Is it campy like Buffy or more like X-files?

thanks. will definitely see it for the acting and cinematic appeal. Farhan Akhtar is very watchable as an actor. As for the director.. well i'd be better it he toned down his preachy, larger than life displays that he ham fists into all his movies, that otherwise happen to be actually good up till that.
