  1. A player does not play in the same manner throughout his career. There is bound to be rough patch at some point of time. Ricky Ponting came close but in the f** end, he faltered. Kallis won't be able to do it coz of the age factor, but imo tendulkar may be a better batsman but kallis is the best wholesome cricket player of forever.

there may be rough patches sure and no player plays in the same-ish manner through out, but it works the other way too. Cook can hit more amazing form than what he has now. His current avg is shade under 50 and he can go till 55-58 in coming few years (not over all avg but avg in just those 4-5 years) thereby hitting the prime. It is almost as probable as people just throwing the idea of a player hitting a slump abjectly. As good as his last 3 years have been, he can still scale higher heights. England in test cricket are the best in the world as of now, and that gives him the support to assert dominance, most notably support from the bowlers. His bowlers make sure that he doesnt have to bat under pressure, thereby freeing his mind. If India had a good bowling unit, or even a decent support batting cast in the 90s, Tendulkar would have scored more as he would not have had to do the 'last stand' act ever so often.

Generally a batsman's prime years come in the period between 27-33 when he is experienced, yet relatively young. Cook is at the best stage to launch himself further and he has a very good team around him to allow that.

As for health issues, i dont recall any time Cook has been out for a long period or him suffering any major injury al all in his 7+ year old career (could be wrong, someone correct me if that is the case).

Agreed with Kallis being better cricketer than anyone else, even tendulkar. His record with both bat and ball is phenomenal, even when looked individually; but when you combine them, it is just :majesty: :majesty:

People tend to forget cricket is not only about batting. Shame.

  2. KP says Cook can break Sachin tendulkar's record.

Of course he means test. Now if we can put rabid fanboyism and all around daftness aside to actually discuss this, it is actually a very interesting statement.

Among current players Cook certainly seems the one to break sachin's test statistics- both runs and centuries. Cook certainly has the ability and he plays as opener (thus max game time). If he can stay fit without major drops in form it is quite possible. England play the maximum no. of tests amomgst all countries, so that works in his favor. Although, the no of tests played all around is on decline so you never know.

One big advantage that sachin had is that he started playing at 16 yrs. Cook made his debut at 21 so those 5 yrs of cushion he doesnt have. That is one reason why i think only some one who starts playing in his mid teens (with ability obviously) can break the record, but still... thats an advantage, not a necessary pre condition. If cook keeps up at 50, his current avg, per innings (not bloated by not outs) and play 10-12 tests an year in 7-8 years he will clear it. He is 28 yrs as of now.

  3. Anyone seen Under the Dome yet? Worth it?

I know it is inspired from King's work but i cant help but relate it to simpsons movie :|

Any idea if matt groening took the idea from King ? the novel was 2 decade in making but simpsons movie did release before the book's official release.

  4. Arnie is too big a name to let go off the Terminator series. I mean come on, Terminator and Arnold made each other.

Also, Paramount, Skydance and Annapurna Pictures have just announced that Terminator 5, potentially starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, will be released June 26, 2015. It’s being framed as the first film in a new trilogy.

Rumor has it that Rock (dwyane johnson) is going to star in this. if that is true then it seems rock is doing a total u turn from the nonsense he had to go with at the start of his movie career. tooth fairy anyone :|

dude that was like.. very very thought provoking. Thanks a lot for posting it. Seriously this experiment should be made mandatory for every junior school and should be shown to college students and adults. Even for people in subcontinent (maybe with some tweaking in the eye color experiment, but viewing could be the same) as the ills of caste segregation here is pretty much racism in a different form.

  6. son of a horse c*ck

FK had Z on a massive discount for like a week, was going for 32 thousand something after all cuts. As i was pondering (had it in my cart), they revoked the said price cut and it is back to 37,990 as of today.

    c*ck blocked :ranting:

  7. Its impossible to be specific without being spoilerish. To put it pithily, its just bad stuff happening to some good (and some bad) people, non stop. And to be honest I wouldnt normally mind that but its done so ham handedly. If you do it right that kind of thing has an incredible amount of potential to pay off. But when you turn it up to 11 from the first episode and just leave it there non stop, it all becomes white noise.

I would still recommend it though. If only because its very different from what you get on TV.

Edit Also saw the season finale of Mad Men (its just been one finale after another this week). And holy f**k was it good too. This weeks been incredible when it comes to TV.

hmmm so all in all pure depression from the get go. Might check.. if nothing else then for a change like you said.

    thanks.

  8. Buyout caluses (calusii ?) do not work that way. The contract length has to be factored as well. If the player refuses to sign a new deal and no potential suitor is willing to meet the buy out clause then it is better for the club to sell the player a little below the stipulated amount.

  9. Kinda funny that he's booted out immediately after he won his two european cups.

2 ? kab ? the first one was in 97. Anyhoo, he is retired as per the man himself. He said so in the middle of just finished season that this will be his last stint.

  10. dont remember seeing buffon this bad :fear:

ye pahli baar nahi hai. Buffon is a very good gk but sometimes you get a total bamboozle of a free kick that is un savable unless you have spider sense and associated reflexes. Such a scene happened wayy back right after when Buffon made his big money (most expensive gk, record still holds) move from parma to Juve. Henry schooled him in a cl match-

This video cuts right before the best part, the commentator had said- "the world's most expensive goalkeeper did not even move".

    Solid insult ho gayi
