  1. read about that sopranos guy kicking the bucket. at the risk of sounding like an insensitive jerk, the news has made me want to watch the series. I know about its legendary status and Tony always looked like a bad mofo, but have always deferred starting it. I remember it being all the rage in mid 00s but I was too young to develop a liking back then.

  2. hmm cos i've seen the swedish version wnted to know if it's diff from books in neway and ore imp does it ruin the book ?

you should check imdb for the swedish movie, they usually have all such info in trivia section. Havent gone there as... well, spoilers.

  3. no, have not. I know about it though, infact heard about the book for the first time because/after the movie was praised on its release (talking about the english release). Will surely watch it once i finish the novel.

As for the second part, well i was staying away from home the past 10 days and i happened to see it lying in a shelf of the room. Decided to try it for shits and giggles (turns out it is more of pure putrid sh*t) and also cause for some reason (paid ?) it had a huge in your face marketing with loads of accolades being thrown at it some months ago.

  4. Haven't read the novel.

    ah ok.

I didn't say All Star Superman is bad. It was great. But people consider it worst Superman move *stares at Snake*

The only Superman movie which I was not compelled to watch in one sitting was Unbound. I found it boring and following a formula with no novelty.

have not seen unbound, so cant say about that; but All stars was pretty good. Maybe cause i loved the book so am a bit partial but it is far from being the worst superman movie. I have generally liked DCAU and find its works to be much superior to all live action DC movies except Nolan's.

  5. Seconded on All star Superman movie. ^^

The book/story series is the stuff of legends, while the cartoon is pretty good to hold its own.

Ignore Dante77, maze le rha hai vo, ya kuch shot maar ke aaya hai :| All star bad, Batman year one bad.. what next ? Phantasm is bad too ?

  6. Reading "The girl with the dragon tattoo". almost a third in and it is worth every bit the hype it has got. Bought the other two to complete the trilogy.

Like the book even more cause i am reading it right after going 3/4th into Shobha De's 'Sethji', literally the epitome of garbage can material. This was my first introduction to Shobha De as a fiction writer and am rest assured that the kind of mind numbing boredom and intellectual suppression she brings with her newspaper articles are not exclusive to that one form of writing; they are at full blossom in her novels too. Threw it away and began The millennium trilogy.

  7. Robert downey jr. didnt become a market name only after iron man. He was a very well known and bank-able star before that, an academy award nomination before he turned 30 speaks for itself. It is just that he had a massive nose dive in mid-late 90s and fell off the radar. Iron man did give him the resurgence anx brought him to the heights he had reached earlier in his career in 20s.

Of course if you are to compare his career right before and after Iron man the yes, it was the turning point

Watched Fukrey, very very watchable. Nice movie with amazing girls. Richa chaddha

Movie has got a simple story that is acted and directed superbly. Recommended.

  8. Ever had a game where you feel it's better to run away than to fight and finish off the enemies.

I take it that you havent played much, or any, survival horror last gen; or even in first couple of years this gen (condmned, siren). Cause in the glory days of silent hill, and for some weeaboos- fatal frame, sh*ting pants as we ran away is what we horror buffs did instead of shooting.

  9. Saw Man Of Steel and liked it :)

Just a doubt for those who have read the comics

Does Superman kill anyone in the comics ?

Well 75 yrs of history. Pretty sure he must have offed someone. Maybe off panel during the crazy days in 50-60s. But he is mostly the paragon of anti killing brigade. Infact there are stories where he has been shown to contemplate as to how to use his powers in ways that they neutralize the human threat without killing them as they can be really lethal.

  10. Ok.. So many things.

@afty dude. Comeon. 300 was very very good. Sure it had a barebones story but cinematography, action and pure entertainment wise there is none better. It is like all the best parts of 80's action were cocktailed without any damage in transition.

Man of steel and rotten tomato

RT score should not be taken at face value. A 62% there doesnt mean the movie is 62% good. It means that 62% of well known critics/reviewers have liked it. And liked it can mean anything from 'below avg' to 'outstanding'. Similarly the 38% dislike could range from 'bad' to 'avg'. Also reviews dont have weights, a piece from a top newspaper carries the same impact on over all % as a blovver from his mom's basement, provided the blog gets enough hits.

That being said. Looks like a typical Nolan trademark- drab, dull, uninspiring and a deviation from character's traditional myths.

Watchmen and oft repeated "i will whisper NO"

Epic movie, badass quote. No doubt, but novel > movie except the ending.

manhattan's giant energy balls are better and more believable threat (insofar as people uniting because of it) over aliens randomly occuring, even if they were manufactured and not actual ET.

Secondly nite owl crying over rorschach's death makes a much more meaningful and power packed impact over him bumpin' uglies with silk spectre in ozzy's lair and said death happening in seclusion.

    Thirdly Ozzy > Roschach.

  11. You mean the movie with digitally enhanced abs and bodies . nakli mard movie :giggle:

    :P

    Bitch please..

I had read somewhere that this prequel is also loosely based on some battle of artreium or something, its nice to see how they mix some historical facts with fiction (demonized Persian immortals etc), some may not like it, but its fun way to depict a story.

yeah it is. in fact it was called 300: Battle of Artemisium for a while. Said battle was a naval engagement that happened simultaneously with the battle of Thermopylae (original 300), just on the other end of the map and with other greeks city states.

  12. On topic, as much as I loved 300. I really don't want its sequel. I don't think it can capture the epicness of original movie. Some movies need to be left alone. 300 is one of them.

not a sequel per se. this movie takes place before, during and after the original 300. it doesnt continue 300's story as there was nothing to continue. it does not have the same characters except the persian king. 300 was a part of larger greek mythos, loosely based on real events, no reason we cannot have spin offs in the same universe.

it is more a movie from the persian side. xerxes and her second in command, played by the ever pleasant sight to the eyes Eva Green.

  13. Let us just take a moment to realise and list out what all has changed in the world and in our personal life from the day this game was announced in early 2009 till today.

-a black guy survived his first presidency and actually managed to get re elected in usa.

    -osama bin laden being killed.

-the singer of 'shake your bon bon', whose songs were the inspiration for millions of boys in late 90s-early 00s to pull moves on girls in parties turned out to be a fabulous homosexual. am sure there is some irony there.

    -duke nukem finally got released.

-superman lost his iconic red chaddi in a major movie release.

    ....

    add more.

  14. So I dont really care that much but out of curiousity, what exactly happened to this game?

Did it go from being current gen FF13 Versus to next gen and relabelled as FF15? Or is it multigen and still FF13 versus? :ko:

  15. Chu Sharma.. 1 match where he had managed to bowl well.. But f**ker is back to basics.. Ruined it for India

well no. his final figures are 1/43 off 10 overs. Not bad at all. that last over at the end went for 21 runs but apart from that he bowled well. If he had given 43 runs evenly over 10 overs instead of 22 off 9 and 21 off 1 over then you'd be saying he had a nice outing.

Just as one cannot single out one good over and say the bowler has been awesome, similarly one bad over cant belittle his over all performance if it has been decent.

  16.

Preventing a car from rolling back would only be helpful in traffic conditions, and in most of the hill area's there isn't bumper to bumper traffic (i haven't been to manali)

True. Hills dont have that much traffic (thankfully) that you need to have a feature that prevents the car from rolling back. As for Manali, the bumper to bumper is mainly at the famous Rohtang Pass, which for all inten and purposes is a flat-ish road. Yes there is a slope, you are climbing a mountain, but it is not very steep. It is at a slight angle which aint really dangerous, of course the low-er angle makes it a loooooong road, but that is a different thing.

Such specifications are usefull only in shitty city traffic if one happens to have a steep slope in their area but that is a very rare case and not worth pondering over as hand breaks do the job.
