systematic, i get no lag in Online gaming. also, when i connect PS3 to PSN via. ICS, i get maxed out speed in downloads(PSN Demos and as such)
If you don't experience any lag, that's great but ideally people with a similar connection would lag. As far as your download speed is concerned it's perfect I didn't even comment on that.
Thanks Systematic....that was some helpful info. Also could you tell me how much are you paying for your current connection??
Well, I upgraded my package online during a scheme, it roughly came out to 1100/- p.m.. My plan is prepaid until May or something like that...
I don't think they still have that particular scheme available but they do have some new prepaid prices and plans which you can take a look at here.

^^Does that require setting up of a TATA Indicom phone connection??
TATA Communications Ltd. in Mumbai is comprised of two different broadband sectors, these are:
- DSL
- Cable
AFAIK TATA Teleservices Maharashtra Ltd. covers the DSL sector, which requires a phone line and a modem.
Secondly, VSNL (their other venture) covers the cable connections, these connections do not require a separate phone line (Ethernet connectivity).

Pushy, you may not know this but considering you live in Mumbai that ping is really high, secondly the upload is pretty bad for online gaming....

OK guys....after that N00B experience i got a question.
I'm using 256 kBps Sify broadband right now and paying a little over 1k a month.
I was thinking of switching over to 512 kBps but from a different ISP.
Pls. suggest me some good ISPs in mumbai...preferably in the Powai area.
I had a 2 mbps MTNL DSL connection earlier but with a download cap and it used to disconnect a lot from my PS3.
Wherever you're located TATA is your safest bet, although they're slightly more pricey than Airtel.
The best part is if you do opt for a TATA VSNL connection you will always get your promised speed and upload will be symmetrical and maximum upload is 512kbps.

The download speed you get when you're downloading files off the net is actually kBps and the speedtest shows your speed in kbps, the difference is bits and bytes...
The conversion ratio is divided by 8.

Is anyone using a TATA VSNL connection in Mumbai particularly the one that requires the user to login before accessing the net? If you do have this connection and if you are using it with a router can you explain how to set up the PPPoE on this particular network.
-Thanks in advance

thats a nice ratio between the two upload and download...how come when i am using the same tata thing..my ratio is so different...is it due to the distance between mumbai and kolkata...because i ping the mumbai server
The TATA plan you may be using may not be symmetrical I.e. It probably limits it's upload speed to 256 kbps max.
It could also be that your plan itself is not committed to any minimum speed.
The distance of the server should not affect your download/upload speed, it will affect your ping though.
For example, since I live in Mumbai itself I usually get a ping of 9/10 ms.

Tested the net today, seems to be back to normal.

I'm currently using a 384kbps connection from TATA and I have to admit it's pretty rock solid (Let's just hope it comes in handy for these free offers tonight).

who's more reliable, Reliance or tata indicom??? i can only get one of the these broadband lines, so which one??
Don't know about others but in my personal opinion, I've used both and I can safely say TATA is much more reliable.

Btw keyo, I saw Death Sentence today. I felt like the story had a large number of plot holes and the action wasn't paced very well neither were the sequence of events. Also the recurring theme music seemed to not be suitable for some scenes at times. Overall I don't want to let you down but I found the viewing experience rather mediocre.
Anyways, I think I'll still watch the other two recommendations.

Movie Discussion Thread

Let me try to explain this to the extent of what I grasped from the concept.
The defense system was put in place for the best interests of the country. In the beginning of the movie it is shown that some terrorist leader is targeted somewhere in the Middle East but the US forces are not positively sure whether the target is the actual person or not and the defense system advises to abort the attack.
Although the military forces are advised to abort the attack by the defense computer, the higher authorities override the decision and proceed with the attack. After a while it is evident that the attack was unsuccessful because the target was incorrect and therefore the safety of the country is threatened by the political leaders who authorized the attack.
Therefore, the defense system (computer) acknowledges the political leaders as a threat to the country and tries to eliminate them at a political meeting (I don't remember what meeting it was exactly).
Hope that clears your doubts...
