  1. Np man, check out the others too. You've got to dig around for the good stuff.

I think since you've got nothing to do, I'll make you do the digging for me. I'm pretty sure you enjoy digging anyways.... /all pun intended

  2. All the alternatives are modern as well. They're just better experiences overall than the ones you've listed and are either the originals or films by the same director. Do check them out even if you don't end up watching them today.

I'd say got with either...Mirrors or Strangers. I'm guessing subtitles will be a problem so best stick with the English remakes. Either of those then.

Actually I will take heed to your recommendation, I just saw the summary for Death Sentence seems to be something promising. Will definitely give this a chance, thanks keyo!

  3. NONE. Other options:

    1. Mirrors: Watch Aja's Haute Tension instead.

    2. Dead Silence: Watch Wan's Death Sentence instead.

    3. Strangers: Watch the original instead: Ils (Them).

Wanted to watch something slightly modern and remade, because I'm gonna be watching it with my parents, they are big fans of horror/suspense.

  4. why wont any of you watch IASIP? rant.gif

    cry5.gif

Just picked up the first 3 seasons on your recommendation.

IASIP -- Its not available in any store in india and i could not find any decent *cough* of the first season

I think you should search again, I saw a pretty healthy one of the first 3 seasons.

  5. What episode does the Kasumi clan filler of Bleach end at?

Sorry man I wouldn't know. I think I dropped it after the first 50.

Also Kiki is a given, and I've long decided that nothing can make me even consider watching Makai Tensho.

I'll check out Mushishi though. It looks very nice!

    How about:

    Cowboy Bebop (series + movie)

    Last Exile

    Wolf's Rain

    FMA

Gundam (I've seen UC and Zeta/I am a h.u.g.e. Gundam fan/my avatar says hello)

    Paranoia Agent

    Noir

    SE: Lain

Hmm...it's a pity you won't check out the Makai Tensho stuff. It's not half bad.

    I've seen:

Bebop (I love the Ending number, Folk Blues.)

Last Exile (I have it here somewhere, haven't given it a look yet though)

Seen all the others you've mentioned. As far as Gundam is concerned Gundam Wing just did it for me, honestly nothing felt as original. (Btw have you seen that SD Gundam? ROFL!)

I found SE:Lain rather pathetic ditto for Noir. Although Paranoia Agent was a good watch same for FMA.

  6. I'll check out Wings.

    Some other movie recommendations:

    Ninja Resurrection (purely for gore)

Advent Children (for some sick CG animation)

Kiki's delivery service (I'm can't believe I'm saying this but I rather enjoyed this one)

These are pretty common but I'm mentioning them just in case you might have missed them.

    Some other good series are:

    Mushishi

Ouran High School Host Club (Somewhat like School Rumble)

  7. My turn:

Wings of Honneamise? Memories? Jin-Roh? Patlabor?

    obviously..

    Wings - Not seen

Memories - Oh yes, now this is one bugger who's torrent was almost impossible to find at that time. But Magnetic Rose was like OMFG awesome. I loved the clean art and the strange plot.

Jin-Roh - I'm not sure but I think I fell asleep while seeing this.

Patlabor - Funny thing about this anime, it was based on how they envisioned 2002 to be with robots doing police work and stuff....I don't remember but I think I saw the OVA's.

Anyways man I'm off for the night will post more tomm.

  8. TG was obviously tailor-made for a larger audience while still maintaining Kon's usual serious tone at places and his liking for mature subjects/characters. I thought it struck the perfect balance!

Actually I didn't explain properly as to what I meant.

I meant to say that it had all the elements of a potentially good anime that in the end didn't deliver. I mean yeah, it's one of those animes that catered to the general viewer along with the otaku but there were not enough elements to captivate me.

  9. Only Yesterday

    Whisper of the Heart

Seen these two, I liked Whisper of the Heart more than I thought I would. To be honest, I didn't seem to like Tokyo Godfathers that much, it seemed like there was just too much put in to make the movie seem appealing but then the whole concept was rather dry.

I think the simplicity element goes a long way in anime movies, it's not all about the fancy animations and art styles once you nail the concept (I love Ghibli for this) you tend to draw in the viewer more.

  10. Hmm...I hope you're into Ghibli stuff.

    Check out the following:

    Spirited Away

    Castle in the sky

    Grave of the fireflies

    Princess Mononoke

    Some non-ghibli stuff:

Akira (If you haven't seen this then you must die)

Ninja Scroll ( Don't know why but this is just one of my all time favs)

Perfect Blue (caution may cause a migraine)

    GITS movies

    Ruroni Kenshin movies
