Because i tried with my Xbox 360 controller(for 360) on my PC..and I too couldnt get the rumble with NFS:MW!!!!!!!!
its the same xbox wireless controller with PC receiver...since i dont have most wanted i cant comment.

Bottom line is both the consoles are great and have there own advantages and disadvantages....
Xbox has better software and better online options.
PS3 is more robust catching up on software with more Exclusives Lined up and with Home they say it will equal live may or may not be.
My advice if you have money go for PS3 its a better choice as of now.
