    QFT :first:

    an MBA can get one to the door but crossing it depends on the individual's capabilities.

    Hey Kunal,

    Since it's a Symbiosis it should be good, though I have not recruited from there ever. I do believe that SIBM and SCMHRD are good B'Schools under Symbiosis umbrella.

    Q : what happened when the playstation drank too much water

  5. MBA is not stupid. Most MBA institute selling MBA degrees like AC and Fridge are stupid.. and Stupid are students who do not take enterance test properly and then waste their parents money in these random MBA Institute. I get 5 Brochures every month with funny sounding names of some very crap Institutes..asking me for placement.

    Again, motive is important.. Why do you want to do an MBA? For a job in Marketing, Finance or HR, to run your own Company or because you did Engineering in Civil and realise you do not have a cushioned job waiting. There are many tests these days that can help you analyse your bent of mind.

    Also this whole fixation with MBA, Engineering, CA and Doctor really pisses me off. Some of my most successful friends are Channel Producers, Corporate Communication Professionals, PR, Actors, Animators, Radio Programmer, Sound Engineers, News Journalists, Experential trainer and Documentary makers.. And I see them enjoy their work each day as passionately as ever..

    I can say that I am lucky to be a fast tracker in my career..and though I do admit that only an MBA does not make you a great leader or a business professional it does give you that edge, that push and a mention on your CV that works in longer run.

    Try and be the cream in whatever you do.. Whether MBA or Engineering. Top 10% of any institute even small MBA school eventually do well in life. Otherwise, I have even see IIM passout getting sacked due to non performance..

  6. Hi all

    This is my first post here and I am sure I am the only one with the kind of dilemma that stares at me this very moment. I passed my BTech with an average of 7.15 in CSE this year and almost as soon as that I joined a firm in the capacity of a tech journalist (You have read it right). My mistake was that I thought that the position was something like a miniature version of Gizmodo or Endgadget, but sadly it was not. The work I did was concerned mainly with reblogging and stuff. Still everything was great till 6 months, ie till the time we were due for a raise. The promise in the campussing documents was a 50 % hike, but unfortunately the firm decided to ignore all of that and asked us to wait for another 6 months. Stuck in a job I hated and worse with a very meagre pay I decided that enough was enough and planned to quit the organization. MBA was my goal and I had planned to wait for a couple of years before i even try. It seems now that my plans have just been sent to the cleaners. I went for an Interview with a Bpo firm yesterday and I was told that I could join it anyday I want to with a slightly better scale. I was thinking about applying for the big tech companies but I have been out out of touch for like 6 months.

    My question is to all of you is that please guide me as to what I do right now. The firm is behaving very oddly and all the fresh recruits are leaving one by one. Even now if I study and appear for the CAT I'll be jobless for about a year. Even considering that I left.My severance package being the realease order others failed to procure. I wanted to ask all of you if what I am doing is correct or there is any other way out of this jam (like joining a bpo or something).. My top priority is getting an MBA done from a reputed insti

    First of all don't kick yourself for how you wanted things and what they became.. To me you are still in safe zone careerwise.

    What are your office timings? Can't you prepare for an MBA enterance with this job that you have as TechJournalist? Or do you need to keep a job to fund your MBA education or you have the support to leave job and prepare for MBA full time by taking six months break.

    What is your motivation of doing an MBA when you are a B.Tech. Would you like to do an MBA in Information Technology?

    Joining a BPO can be an option only if you need more money to fuel your education. Then you can join a BPO that works in a shift that allows you study time at Night/Morning. Mostly BPO life takes a toll on you, also de-focus the attention from studies and people mostly end up in a BPO gamut only.. Though you hate your current job, I assume that atleast it allows you to work on Day Shift.

    Can suggest more if you can answer my questions.

  7. Why limit enthusiasm for first 30 years??? Why not keep it life long.. It's easy if you are an Arian though..

  8. isn't Ashutosh a spiritual counselor too?

    also heard that he is doing some TV stuff

    also Megz, O_O

    what are you currently doing?

    senior HR professional? counselor? Voice over artist? women on a gaming forum? :bounce:

    Yup, and I also solve people's love problem too.. Ask X,Y and Z on IVG..

  9. Alright heres a question,

    Previously I had considered applying for foriegn universities but I rejected that idea for graduation due to the fact that I wanted to do it in India,and a sudden change of scenery wasnt palpable.

    Now I am in 11nth about to go to 12th this year,science stream and I dont think I have a huge chance of making it into IIT,since I haven't even started studying for competitives.

    My question is is it possible to have a mediocre (leaning towards weak) graduation and then a strong post grad in foreign/domestic in say MBA?

    Even if you cannoty crack IIT, you may try other Engineering enterance test. I suggest you do Engineering from a recognised institute (State/Private) and then work for 1 year. In that year also study for MBA enterance - CAT, XLRI or International. You may want to do your MBA in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Product Management or General Management.

    But first find out do you really want to Do an Engineering or an MBA at all?

    Most youngsters do it because it is like the normal thing to do.. basic expectation from a PCM student.

    May be you like Photography more, or Scriptwriting more or Would like to be a Production Controller or Cinematographer or a Chef..

    Think what's your talent.. Think what you would like to do so that going to work for the next 30 years of life would not feel like living someone else's life for money..

  10. Managing studies with CA Articleship For CA Students

    Chartered Accountant (CA) is one such initial which is so prestigious to place before your name. But to be able to do so, you need not only to go through the years of articleship but also the rigorous exams. While the articleship period passes through time, one finds it hard to clear the exams. The reason remains that we have no time to study simultaneously with our articleship. And when we sit to study in our limited exam leaves, it is too late to study for the knowledge and understanding sake. Further, we are short on time to even cover the whole syllabus. Well, I am here to talk about managing studies with your articleship.

    No need to over-emphasize that one needs to study from day one, concurrently with one’s articleship. How to do it as we have so laborious days, full time office! Wait my friend, just make a total of how much idle/waste time you spend during the day:

    1. Sleeping late till morning;

    2. Commuting hours to and from office;

    3. Idle time at client’s place;

    4. Going out with colleagues after the office;

    5. Passing time with games/movies/TV once home; :censored:

    6. Being busy over phone.

    Attach importance to every aspect of life, but differently. It’s important to prioritize things at various stages of life. For example- studies shall be a priority in student life, while “masti” shall be a priority once you are settled.

    There are few tips based on my experience which you may consider following:

    1. Early Morning Study- Few people prefer studying late night. But that time there are many things from the day running in our mind. Lots of reasons to get distracted. Tired mind can’t concentrate much after day’s hard work at office.

    The benefit of early morning study is that when you wake up your mind is at peace. Your mind is not entangled with many things. Try getting atleast an hour to study early morning.

    2. Utilising idle time- It is the time when we have nothing fruitful to do. It may be spending hours in commuting or idle time at Client place. Make sure you analyse the duration and the mode of transport for commuting. According to the time and comfort you may prefer reading full-fledged chapters or miscellaneous things like AS, SA, Case Studies and all. You may try carrying one book at client place (covered with newspaper obviously) and do read them smartly as to not let the client know that you’re studying while ensuring that your senior has no work to delegate you. Even 15-20 minutes here and there every day contributes a lot.

    3. Doing non-important things at office idle time- Try to shift your non-productive things towards office idle time. Suppose you have to follow up with your mobile Customer Care Executive or call up your known to wish him birthday, don’t waste your precious study time at home to do this. Such things can very well be done at office. It ensures that you don’t have such unimportant things to do at home at the cost of your studies.

    4. Limited hanging out with colleagues every day after office- We all go to audit our clients at happening places across the city/state. There is always an inclination to try different restaurants, visit places or to hang out just for nothing. You’ll always find in your team few members who would also try to persuade you. And these people would mostly be those who are done with their studies. Now, they are working in a company and enjoying life. But remember, your priorities at this point of time are studies. A monumental place can be visited any time later in life, restaurants and all you can get better with time. These are anyways too much to be explored. These things can wait but not your studies.

    5. Manage your weekends strategically- Well, everyone wants to be managing things and people. One management lesson says that to be a good manager, just start perceiving everything in your life as individual project and execute it strategically. Your studies, your PRs (Personal Relations), quality time with your family, friends and relatives are individual projects wherein you need to think if you are over-doing or under-doing on any aspect at the cost of other.

    We plan to spend the weekend well in advance, mostly to go out and enjoy. The Saturdays (if off) and Sundays are pass by and we don’t even realize. If we see we have more than 150 days of weekends in average 1.5 yrs. This is even more than the exam leaves we get. If we utilize it judiciously, we must have got more than one reading of all the subjects which is sufficient to not only pass but to get a rank as well.

    I would suggest you to follow this strategy just for a week religiously and feel the difference yourself.

    This not exhaustive tips, feel free to manage your studies and work in your own way.

    Oh I remembered the time I was doing my CA Articleship..

    Morning- College, Noon- Audit at Client's place, Evening -CAT coachin, Late Evening- Funtime at Barista with Friends and Night CA+CAT Preparation.. What days..

  11. ^^ I recommend you take admission in any reputed college and do your graduation in Commerce or even Arts if that appeals to you.

    Since you have an interest in Graphic Designing, go take counselling from various Animation and Designing institute we have. Do your reserach well as there are many fake institutes with very poor faculty and high fee for course.. and then simultaneously with your graduation, take up a short term career course in Animation Film Making, Gaming Design, Post Production and Compositing etc. Once you get a fair idea of your interest and talent towards your SY in Graduation, you can prepare for the enterance of some big Design/Animation/Film school internationally or NID Ahemedabad.

    Graduation is really important. It matters later in your career when even if you are great artist the HR looks at your basic education for promotion decision.

  12. Thankyou Lucknowvasiyon.. :)

    Aaj ke Quote pe dhyan dijiye:

    "If life is a movie most people would consider themselves the star of their own feature. Guys might imagine they're living some action adventure epic. Chicks maybe are in a rose-colored fantasy romance. And homosexuals are living la vida loca in a fabulous musical..I don't know what my life is but I do know that I'm constantly squabbling with the director over creative control, throwing prima donna tantrums and pouting in my personal trailor when things don't go my way."
