  1. This isn't so much a phone question, as it is a mobile service provider question. I'm going to be in India later in March (Bangalore), and need a provider with good coverage. I've been told that Airtel is my best bet. I jumped onto the Airtel website, and it has the most poorly set out description of pre-paid options I have *ever* come across. So, my question is - if I'm looking for a voice and 3G data combo, what's the best bet in terms of prepaid packs on Airtel. Responses by 8 March would be superb!

  2. @Piper:

You use a mix of semolina and all purpose flour, and knead it at home. The technique is pretty much the same as it is for roti, except that you roll it a lot thinner.

    Ingredients:

    3/4 cup semolina

3/4 cup plain (all purpose) flour

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1 tablespoon olive oil

    1 tablespoon water

    2 eggs

Measure out the two flours and salt into a mound on the benchtop. Make a well in the centre and add in water, olive oil and 2 eggs. Using a fork stir the flour through until it just comes together.

Knead the flour mixture for 10 minutes until it forms a smooth ball. Leave to sit in a covered bowl for half an hour.

Divide the dough into 3 balls.

Roll out each ball on a lightly floured surface until the sheet is 1/2 mm thin, turning the dough 90 degrees every couple of rolls. Fold the dough into thirds, cut into strips (1/2 cm wide at most), and open up into long strands.

    To cook:

bring water and salt to a rolling boil and dunk pasta in for between 1-3 minutes and drain. Do not rinse the pasta.

  4. @piper: actually i do. That doesntvchangw the fact that it"s a scarily sub-optimal way of determining whether you want to spend the rest of your life with someone.

@dinjo: because having my parents parade a bunch of guys before me is the easiest way for me to get some action. *facepalm*

  5. While I don't disagree that relationships can develop using other means (phone, skype, etc.) where distance doesn't require it, I'd have thought meeting in person regularly so you can bond would be ideal. Seems kind of silly to exclude physical meeting up.

PS: I'm aware that often, the arranged part of arranged marriages involve simply another avenue to meet people. I just don't think that kind of arranged marriage is exemplified in the ones where you only meet the person once or twice before actually tying the knot (except where distance is involved, and even then, once or twice seems insane).

  6. Guys, so this is my set-up. I have a laptop connected to a television with an HDMI cable. It plays sound on youtube clips and for skype conversations through the sound system on the laptop. When I try to play a DVD or music stored on the computer, it will not play sound. I've tried connecting a separate sound cable, but that does nothing.

Can anyone walk me through what I need to do to get the sound coming through the TV?

    Thanks!
