    Well Done !!

Play the Alternate ending route, now that you are well versed you can complete it quickly..

    Visit the house

Collect all 6 sunfragments in each world.. they will spawn in fixed places.. so use a guide..

    Kill the final boss again

Yeah, saw that the story isn't quite done after the 1st playthrough. I haven't stopped playing it, will go for all the endings and even beyond that. The game is fun enough that I can pop in between other games for a run or two.

I still do Hades runs for a change of pace from other games. I can see it being the same with Returnal.

  2. Finally got the end credits rolling after about 40 tries. Honestly didn't follow the story that much. Gonna have to watch a "Returnal Explained" video for that.

One of the best shooters I've played, just for its frantic gameplay. Kinda reminds me of Vanquish in that sense. The second best game I've played this year after Hades.

This is the most I've spent on a game at 3.8k and I don't feel the slightest bit of regret. Fantastic game. Will keep it around.

First 3 levels were fun to reach. after reaching final level felt more like work then enjoyment.

This game also needs some luck with loot

While there RNG at play, the player is given means to manipulate the randomness and get the boons that you want.

Olympian keepsakes guarantee that you find that particular God's boon on the next available room.

The God's will prioritize boons for active abilities, ie dash, attack, special and cast. That way, if you are looking for a particular boon, for example, Ares attack, you can improve the chance of Ares granting his attack boon by already filling the other active ability boons. You can then later sell off the unwanted boon.

If you have boons from 4 different Gods, the game wont show boons from other Gods. This increases your chance of finding a duo/legendary boon.

Find a weapon that you like and google the best builds for that weapon. You can easily work towards that build by using keepsakes and understanding how the RNG works.

A big part of the late game fun in Hades is trying out different builds for various weapons.

In other words I am not skilled ?

Nah, it does take a fair bit of skill, especially during the early stage where you haven't levelled up with Darkness/Titans blood. But levelling up and understanding builds makes you a lot stronger in Hades whereas in Returnal you get no such bonuses and there is no way to influence builds like keepsakes.

  5. Hades is more RPGish than Returnal which is a lot more skill based. Once you level up your character in Hades and learn all the best builds for each weapon, completing a run is more of a formality. The game doesn’t get challenging till heat level > 15. What it lacks in difficulty, it more than makes up in story, dialogue and weapon/gameplay variety.

No sword yet, Biome 1

Try to cheese the enemies by standing next to the door and taking shots and going back. Since you don't have the sword yet, you wont face enemies that you need to melee.

Try to avoid activating all the enemies in the room at once. Avoid getting surrounded by enemies. Remember you can dash through projectiles and enemy attacks instead of always dashing away.

It's difficult to admit how poor a gamer have I become (or always was, idk). Spent another 2 hours on this and result, nil....nada....ZERO !

Which biome are you in? Is it a particular boss that you are having trouble with?

The soundscape is pretty insane. So much happening at any given point, you're always on the edge.

Yup, this game for me has the best sound design of any game I've played in a long while. On one hand you need headphones to pin point enemies, but it also makes the game 100 times more creepy.

  9. I heartily recommend this game to anyone with a passing interest in fast paced shooters. Definitely play with headphones though. It makes pin pointing enemies behind you a cake walk. The 3D positional audio in this game is the best I've heard.

Try Electropylon Driver and see the game become piece of cake

Yeah that's my favorite weapon so far. Hollowseeker with portal beam is also godly.

Apart from the pistol, every weapon int the game is fun and powerful.

That's how it is for everyone. Act 1, youre trying to beat the bosses. Act 2, you become the boss.

Yeah, the initial stress and difficulty makes it all the more satisfying.

The game is still challenging but I feel like I am in control. I only get hit if I make a mistake.

  12. Managed to get through Nemesis thinking the game was done. Turns out I just finished Act 1 and everything, the weapons, enemies, level design etc is turned up to 11 on Act 2.

This is such an amazing and underrated game. How this game has not managed to win a few GOTY awards is beyond me.

Just beat Hyperion which is probably my favorite boss so far. Just a really cool boss design and attack patterns.

Now that I am getting more and more OP weapons and traits, the initial fear and stress while playing the game is giving way to a feeling of being a badass.

Also won the best game story of 2021.

Best story is well deserved but best 'action' is a bit of a head scratcher for me. IMO, only games with excellent gameplay mechanics should be considered for best action awards. The gameplay in GoTG felt floaty and weightless, it reminded me of the combat in Deus Ex games. Plenty of games in 2021 came out with far more engaging combat, such as Returnal.

Yup, I just put 40 hrs in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

    Enjoyed them.

Also GOTG is a surprise. Doesn't look too good in gameplay videos. Maybe it's better to play instead of watching videos.

GoTG isn’t much better playing than it is watching a lets play video. I finished the game, and it was a fun ride. But it had to do with the excellent dialogue and voice over of the cast. The gameplay is just meh. I just kept playing to see how the story would turn out and to be a part of the interactions between the crew.

I don't think it was ever part of a PS5 bundle until and unless a retailer forced it on you. If it was the PS Plus version for the PS5 back in Feb then it was the upgraded version.

By PS5 bundle I meant the PS plus collection. You get a collection of digital games to download including UC4, GoW, Days gone etc. I could have just bought the standard version on PS4 and never got around to playing it as well. I have a habit of buying games on sale and never touching them afterwards. All I know is that I have a standard version of the game in my library and it isn’t eligible for upgrade.

  16. Had a 16.08 min run of Heat 6 or so with the fists. Merciful End is OP but gets boring fast. Just mindless dash strike spamming. Extremely safe and does a ton of damage. I suppose it is balanced via needing 3 specific boons instead of 2 to get it to work properly.

My favorite weapon is Naegling's board. Dio cast with Ice Wine and Scintillating Feast is just so much fun. Start with Stygian soul and pray for an extra cast from chaos gates and its happy times. Finished heat 8 run with it to get Skelle's noods.  :wOOtjumpy:

Never happened.. so when you come to the Boss arena its just blank and you cannot proceed further ??

Yeah, it’s just an empty pit. I was stuck there unable to progress or get out of the arena. Happened twice in a row for me. Google suggests that it’s quite a common bug.

Anyways, reached the second boss now. 10 runs in so far, loving the game apart from the stupid bug. The 3D audio is really something. The sound of sand and rubble falling apart in the second biome scares the sh*t outta me. I play in the dark with headphones on. :fear1:

This along with Hades are my personal GOTY candidates. Unlike Hades, I can only do a couple of runs on Returnal before needing a break. Game is damn stressful but addictive. It’s like an abusive relationship that you don’t want to get out of. :fear1:

  18. Anyone else facing the issue where if you return to Phrike after being reconstructed, he no longer respawns? Happened to me twice and I had to restart my run both times. 12 ether and a couple hours worth of progress wasted.
