Thanks man! You can parry with any shield with the parry skill slapped on. But the parry window varies based on type of shield. The buckler has the largest amount of parry frames, making it the easiest shield to parry with.

I've wanted to do a parry only run against Malenia, as a tribute to my most favorite souls boss ever. So respecced to a crit build once I reached her and started learning her parry timings. The fight is a bit long since we have to rely on RNG to make her do parry-able moves. The RNG can be influenced slightly based on our positioning relative to her. We need 3 successful parries for a riposte and getting hit means she heals back the damage we dealt. Then there's the small matter of dodging Waterfowl dance. It took me a couple of days, but I finally beat Malenia with only a dagger and a buckler. It was one of the most exhilarating and rewarding series of boss runs I've ever had in a game. Everything about the fight was perfect. The music, the stage, the enemy design, the ambiance. I've completed the game twice and Malenia has been the highlight of the game on both occasions. Kudos to Fromsoft for creating this masterpiece.

Been doing a second run on a new save file to try out new builds and playstyles. No summons or sorcerer builds this time. I'm about 70 hours in and reached Farum Azula. About half the time compared to my initial playthrough. I'm not skipping any enemies or locations either. Its amazing how much easier the game is when you know the enemy moves and general map layout.
  4. Please do share. How's it holding up? I ordered Spigen tempered glass. Quite expensive and quite a few reviews complaining about poor fingerprint sensitivity. But had no other glass alternatives, and past experiences with film based ones have made me weary about ordering them.
  5. People with S22 Ultra, what screen protectors if any do you use? The glass ones seem to interfere with the ultrasound fingerprint scanner while the film ones seem to leave bubbles, and tend to peel off from the curved edges.

I was at the end boss when Elden Ring came out and distracted me from finishing this. Will start a new run on normal mode and finish it this time.
  7. Hoping for a 40 FPS 120 hz mode and uncapped frames with VRR.

    Elden Ring

From wiki, Found in Mt. Gelmir, on a corpse near a Grafted Scion across a stone pillar-bridge north west of the First Mt. Gelmmir Campsite site of grace. The corpse closest to the ladder has the blade I have PS plus btw

I have it. No idea how dropping twice works but I'll add you on PSN. Its a normal curved sword that can be picked up from the open area near a site of grace in Mount Gelmir. No boss fights or dungeon progression required.

Any of you peeps who completed the game on PS5 willing to drop the Scavenger's curved sword for me? I need two of them for a build and the only way is to have someone drop it, or wait for NG+.
  11. Yeah makes sense these games wont run 4k120 in Fidelity mode. But shouldn't Hz be a constant 120 or 60 depending on the mode? The counter on the TV shows a variable value depending on the on screen action.
  12. The VRR update is an absolute gamechanger! I am getting uncapped 120 FPS in FIDELITY mode for both Miles Morales and Rift Apart! The frames do drop to the low 100s in R&C and 60-70 in Miles Morales, but its still buttery smooth and not noticeable without a frame counter. This is combining the shiny graphics of Fidelity mode with the buttery smoothness of 120 hz mode. Tried Elden Ring and although the game doesn't support 120 hz, VRR has made its 50 fps dips a lot more smoother and the game feels a lot more responsive. Cracking VRR implementation by Sony. Makes up for having to wait ages for it to drop.
  13. I'd appreciate it if anyone has a Samsung referral code that they'd like to share.
  14. +1 ISF dark/bright room for SDR content, depending out your taste for content brightness. Cinema home with AI brightness enabled for HDR content. Also stay away from vivid mode.
  15. Check out Nayattu on Netflix and Joji on Prime video.

Yeah, I forgot you could enter Mohg's place relatively early. I only went in there after reaching the Mountaintops of Giants.

    Elden Ring

How? Ancient dragon smithing stones are all gated to late game areas. The player isn’t supposed to have a +10 weapon at that point. Not to mention the fact that Radahn after his nerfs doesn’t really put up much of a fight.

    Elden Ring

Lol you beat Radahn without him going to phase 2. It’s kinda sad how much they nerfed him.

    Elden Ring

Yeah, OP-ness doesn't always correlate to fun. While I do think a pure sorcerer build is the most OP thing in the game, I also find it to be kinda boring. You don't interact with a lot of enemies since they just die before getting close to you. I only respec into the sorcerer build to fight specific bosses that I've had trouble fighting as a melee character. The most fun build for me so far is dual wielding colossal swords with bloodhounds step slapped on to my Greatsword. I just blink around enemies while spamming jumping L1 attacks.

All builds are viable in this game and the best build is the one you're having most fun with. That being said, I did try claw weapons for a while when I was trying to roleplay as wolverine. They definitely are fun weapons to use but the main issue I've found with them are their insanely low range and the fact that they chew through stamina like nothing else. Twinblades are really good for bleed build up and if you're interested in a dual katana build, nothing beats the combo of Rivers of blood on the main hand and a blood nagakiba on the off hand. Use seppuku ash of war on the Nagakiba and you will melt through enemies that can bleed. Bloodhounds fang is also an S tier weapon in my opinion and its weapon skill does insane damage while keeping you relatively safe. I haven't really tried daggers but they are good if you're going for a crit build. Daggers usually have a higher crit modifier but the play styles requires you to be good with parries.

Its not really in the game. Its a mod. The weapon used here is the bolt of gransax which shoots a lightning bolt similar to lightning spear spell. It has no aoe damage. Faith builds have the flashiest spells and effects. But they have underwhelming damage considering their wind up time. The worst thing is, you get no hyper armor while casting them. Any trash mob can knock you out of the spell cast animation. Generally the strongest builds are pure INT builds that can take down enemies from range. Then comes dex/arcane bleed builds. Faith and strength builds are fine but are not as strong as INT or bleed builds in the current patch.

    Returnal

Yeah I’m not a fan of that boss due to the gimmicky nature of his fight. All the other bosses you could kill by just shooting them. Once you know where to shoot, Ophion is actually quite easy. Just shoot at an eye once with the pylon and you can concentrate on dodging his attacks.
