Joke of an offering. If this is going to be the usual quality of games on offer, why would anyone bother paying extra for the higher PS plus tiers. At this point, I don't trust Sony to provide a steady stream of quality games on their game subscription service.

The game gives you a bunch of larval tears, make use of them. I respeced quite a bit and still had 4-5 left when I finished the game. I already had a +10 lusat’s staff and Darkmoon blade from my previous sorcery run, so it was only a matter of re allocating the points for Elden beast.

The fact that they are discouraging fans from calling it Witcher 4 should be confirmation enough that this game won’t be based on Geralt. I am guessing entirely new characters from a different school of Witchers. I am quite ambivalent about this. On one hand I am definitely going to miss Doug Cockle’s Geralt. But I am cautiously optimistic about potential new characters who could turn out to be interesting in their own right.

Looks like they abandoned REDengine due to it being a resource hog. Might actually be a good thing with them not having to worry about optimizing things so much.

CDPR really needed this after the Cyberpunk debacle. Anyways I’m not complaining. The Witcher series is one of my absolute favourite gaming franchise. Really hope to see Geralt back though. It didn’t feel like Ciri was interesting enough to carry a whole game on her own.

Finished the game. The save file showed 125 hours and I was SL level 160 by the end. There was quite a line of bosses towards the end. None of them were too much trouble. The toughest and most memorable bosses were Radahn (pre nerf) and Malenia. Malenia to me was the best boss in the game by far and possibly my most favorite soulsborne boss. I liked that the game lets you respec quite early into the game. This lets me try out different playstyles. All of them were fun and had their moments. But the easiest was definitely pure INT sorcerer. Faith spells have a long cast time for okayish damage and unlike Dark souls, you don't get hyper armor while casting it. Its easy to get knocked out of the animation by a simple mob. Melee was fun but also very frustrating at times. If you're going melee its best to go tanky with lots of stamina and a shield. If you split points between two damage stats like Dex and Arcane, that leaves very little points for tank stats. In the late game even simple mobs can 2 shot you without tankiness. If you're relying on dodging to evade attacks, well good luck. The sheer amount of content in this game is mind boggling. And we're not taking about generic copy paste locations and enemies. Each area felt distinctively different from the rest and had its own vibe and ambience. Exploration in this game was pure joy and I don't think I've had this much fun exploring a game since Oblivion back in the day. In a lot a ways this game sets new standards in terms of open world design and the sheer quantity and quality of content on offer. Any other studio would have divided this game into 3 separate games and no one would have complained about them being too short. I am glad this game is doing well and garnering main stream attention. While Elden Ring isn't perfect, this game does get a lot of things right. We can only hope that other studios that make open word games take notice and implement some of the best aspects of this game in their projects.

Respecced to a dual Katana build. Man it feels like enemies in the game is designed to punish playstyles that rely on dodging the most. The delayed strikes were cool when the bosses did it. Now every two bit mob does it. That along with the 10 hit moves that punish you for trying to punish their attacks and the input reading for flask chugging wears thin real fast. Mages and ranged fighters don't have to deal with this type of bullshit and shield wielders can just block it. I hope for their next game or dlc, the enemy design is not skewed towards just punishing the melee players with no shield.

Wait till you reach Miquella’s Haligtree lol. Best dungeon in the game and it’s only an optional region. As far as open land goes, the underground regions were my favourite. Nokron, Nokstella and Deeproot depths were some of the weirdest and coolest locations in the game. Special mentions to Consecrated snowfields and Raya Lucaria academy as well. This game is chock full of weird, yet brilliant and memorable locations to explore.

Corpse piler and the other arcane weapons are definitely getting nerfed next patch. But with the pace From rolls out patches, I’d say you have a solid month or two to abuse them. I am respeccing into arcane once I get bored of the pure INT build. With the sheer size of this game, I don’t see myself starting a second playthrough immediately. So respeccing allows me to experience a wide variety of play styles in a single run. I wanna try out a dual katana bleed build and a pure STR colossal sword build before I am done with the game.

You get insta-summoned as soon as you put your summon sign if front of Malenia. And she is damn tough in co op. Has a huge HP pool and heals back to full while dealing tons of damage. But the best part is I get to fight her again.
-
The damage does increase based on the stats the weapons scale from. But the amount of damage increase depends on the rank of scaling. For example, for a weapon with B scaling in Dex and C scaling in strength, it’s better to put point on Dex than strength. But adding point in strength does increase the damage.

I kinda got lucky that run because she did two flower bloom attacks in a row. Normally I get her to 60% during the first bloom attack in phase 2 and then she flies away. I got her down to the last hit a few times in previous runs, so I knew it was only a matter of time. She's not that bad as a mage. All you have to do is to survive and not get hit until she does a 2nd flower bloom attack. She wont survive 2 comet Azur blasts. Radahn was mostly annoying because the camera never followed him properly. I fought him as a pure melee and the camera made it hell.

Beat Malenia as a pure sorcerer build I had reached her late night yesterday. Made a few attempts with my previous sword of night and flame build. Didn't make much progress and I had to get some sleep. Saw the patch notes when I woke up and they had gutted my sword. Respecced as a pure sorcerer and beat her after about an hour or so. It was easier than with my previous int/faith build lol. Comet azure one shotted her second phase. Overall a very memorable boss. Not as annoying as Radahn and definitely didn't feel cheap or unfair. My favorite boss so far. I immediately wanted to fight her again after beating her. Sad that I have to wait till NG+. Gonna put my summon sign there for co op.

Keep it vertical. Looks cooler that way. Get Returnal asap

Haven't reached Malenia yet. Got done with Ranni's storyline and reached Mountaintops of the Giants. Very excited to face Malenia. Hoping that she takes me a while to beat. Most of the bosses have been pushovers so far.

I think I was around 80ish. I am now lvl 120, beat Rykard and Morgott without dying. I rarely die to bosses now, just over levelled and overpowered. My mimic tear solo's most bosses. I have not once bothered to farm runes or items though. I just got op by exploring the world.

Loving the atmosphere and level design of Deeproot Depths. All the underground sections, especially Nokstella and Deeproot depths were particular highlights in terms of level design and ambiance. Some truly gorgeous and memorable levels in this game.

I am using the sword of night and flame and it’s weapon art takes 1/3rd of the HP bar of most side bosses I’ve come across. There a lot of great weapons with diverse moves and play styles in this game. One play through is not enough to fully experience the amount of content, diverse builds and story lines in this game. And the game can easily take over 100 hours to finish a single play through. Then there are things like PVP, co op, NG+ and other end game stuff. Easily the game of the generation so far. Will take something really special to top this.

It’s just a bunch villagers on top of the tower. I thought it was going to be a really cool boss or something. You can block the madness buildup by hiding behind objects. Just get to the tower and kill those villagers on top of it. They won’t respawn.

Ah, that one. Its the one we fight in Stormveil. I haven't explored that dungeon yet. Will go back to Caelid and check it out. Go straight from the Deep Siofra Well site of grace. You will see two golem archers. Past them there is a large jar. Talk to the jar, it wont talk back. But if you move back a bit, you will see 3 red summon signs. Another Mimic tear solo. But I have died in this mini dungeon more than any other boss or location. Just a sh*t f**king place with the chariot insta kill bullshit. Its called Gelmir Hero's cave if anyone's interested.

It’s probably a choreographed video made by friends to get likes on social media. The hosts name is shown in big blue letters above their head. There is no way someone misses it.

Aren’t all the tree spirits the same as far as moves go? The only difference I’ve noticed is in their jump attacks inflicting a status effect. I found the one inflicting scarlet rot to be the hardest. I’ve beat the 3 warrior summons after a few tries. I liked those fights though, very fun. The only annoying thing was the trek from bonfire. Had to kill two golums on the way which is a bit time consuming.
