  1. Got the DLC. Damn. The hero's path shows you your exact path from the beginning of the game.. Including all your deaths. You can play it backwards and forwards.

There are huge areas that I haven't even touched. This is another brilliant tool to encourage you to explore the map.

My hand gets numb. Esp if I play while in bed :|

    I experienced this as well.

That's because while in bed you're raising your hands to prop up the switch which is a very unnatural position for your hands to be in. All the blood flows down. Try holding your hands up like that without holding the switch and they'll still become numb.

The solution I found is prop the switch on your chest/belly and hold the joycons in your hands by your side.

  3. Watched Wonder woman over the weekend. I don't get the hype. It was an OK movie. I enjoyed the first half but really didn't like the ending. The whole thing with Ares was so stupid.

    Spoiler

Almost till the end I thought it was all metaphorical and there would be a realization that there is good and evil is within all humans. But nope. There's an Ares and there has to be a full blown superhero style fight to defeat him.

If the point about the movie was to introduce and celebrate the first female superhero, they really could have done something different and unique with the climactic battle and how she resolves the conflict. But it was the same cgi filled explosive fighting that's gotten so tiring over the last 5 years.

It even ruined the first half for me. When she kept saying that there's a dude call Ares and all she has to do is defeat him and that will end the war, she actually wasn't being naive, she wasn't being setup for some personal growth and enlightenment about human beings. She was right all along. There was a dude called Ares. She defeated him. That ended the war. Everyone else was stupid.

  4. 3D is problem only in Indian theaters, that too older theaters. New ones have better tech from what I heard. In most developed countries it's not a problem and it's something that people prefer. I personally will watch real 3D version always in US over normal version.

Non-IMAX 3d is still terrible. The screen becomes too dark. I only go for IMAX-3D shows. IMAX screens are much brighter than regular screens

  5. The pacing in The Last of Us was almost perfect for me. I played it as a stealth game as well and thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, really liked that it was a long single player experience with varied environments that matched the narrative. The only place they could've improved the pacing is the final level which goes on for too long and they almost force you to abandon stealth.

I totally agree that Dangal is a well made sports biopic. But let me elaborate a bit more. The movie is a biopic about a Jat wrestler set in a small Indian village in Haryana (where all the main characters are Haryanvi). The movie itself isn't broadly appealing until the second half.

Yes. Just like Jungle Book is only appealing to zoo animals and Indian orphans.

Again the movie is a biopic about a Jat wrestler set in a small village in Haryana. Reviews of the movie will immediately and consistently identify if it is broadly appealing. Successful BO numbers can backup those reviews. But successful BO figures should never be used decide if a movie is broad in its appeal. Also, if you factor in that it was only some few years ago since Hollywood has been much more successful at penetrating the Chinese market then you'll realise that those BO numbers for Dangal (which is a Bollywood movie) don't add up.

As long as we're speaking the same language, successful BO numbers do correspond to broad appeal. Yes, a huge marketing budget can lead to a big opening, but if the movie is not appealing the numbers will drop. What does not correspond to successful BO numbers is in fact critical acclaim. Movies that review well are not guaranteed to succeed because they may not appeal to a broad audience. Both good and bad movies (critically speaking) can have broad appeal. As much as Transformers movies might suck, they make a sh*t ton of money because they have BROAD APPEAL.

If you dig deeper using venn diagrams and set theory, then you'll understand that certain markets make for a very strong exception. You can't dump every Indian movie onto a Chinese audience and hope for it to succeed.

I used astrology and sudoku and understood that you're still a bit confused about how and why movies make money

  7. UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Kenya, Gulf, Afghanistan, etc.

What i'm trying to say is that even though Dangal was made in India for an Indian audience, it still offers a much more personal experience for Punjabis, especially Punjabi immigrants and foreign-born Punjabis. Dangal gives them an opportunity to reconnect with their home country. I don't have a problem with Dangal being screened in China. What matters to me is if the audience could genuinely appreciate Dangal. The Chinese BO numbers are an affront to a movie like Dangal.

The movie is set in Haryana and all the main characters are Haryanvi. Not all north Indians are Punjabis. I live in Canada and have lots of Punjabi and non-Punjabi Indian friends. Your conclusion that it offers a more personal experience for Punjabi immigrants is verifiably nonsense. Dangal is a very well made sports movie and it has broad appeal. That is why it has been a huge hit in India and abroad.

Dangal's China BO numbers are not an affront, but indicative of its broad appeal. The fact that you think so shows how muddled your understanding of the movie itself is.

We Indians need to comprehend that:

    1) Critical acclaim and BO performance are entirely separate metrics

    2) Universally appealing Indian movies won't necessarily receive a warm reception outside India

Again, I think you're very confused about Indian movies and their appeal as indicated by the self-contradictory sentence above.

  8.

What kind of logic is this?

Do you know some of the best western movies were made by an Italian?

And Rockstar is a British studio. Don't try and find logic. Your response should be more like "But French horses are smarter and more photogenic"

  9. I think this game will bomb. I enjoyed the first game but there were a few factors that worked in its favor that won't for this one.

First of all, the nemesis mechanic was new and surprisingly worked well. There was some hype because of that. Also the game had very low expectations and the fact that it turned out good made people talk about it more. But most importantly, 2014 was a drought year for big AAA releases. SOM was an above average game. But everything around the game worked out fantastically for it that made the game more popular than it would have.

Unless this game has some new surprises, I think it's not going to sell or even review that well.

  10.

I consider the first Far Cry to be more of a predecessor to Crysis than the Far Cry series we have now.

BTW I also loved Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, probably more than any of the other recent Far Cry games. As a fan of 80s movies it was a joy to play. Also that kickass soundtrack by Power Glove.

The first Far Cry was something special. It was my first experience in an open world jungle game and it was exhilarating. Especially stealthing through the foliage and the seamless transition from land to water. It was all so new and that too in an open world.

I remember it released on 2004. The same year Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 (RIP) came out. These three were among the best looking games ever released.

  11.

It's not you. We Indians simply lack the ability to think critically. The problem is unfortunately systemic.

I never meant to deny anyone their right to think and feel as they wish. But i felt a need to correct someone provided in doing so i could elevate them to a higher level of consciousness/intelligence.

You are right. And deep down i know this to be true.

But considering what was at risk, i couldn't bring myself to judge the Baahubali franchise using examples from other genres.

I felt a need to restrain certain members from unfairly criticizing the movie solely on the basis of the narrative style because there does not exist a suitable yardstick to judge the Baahubali movies on that single aspect. I felt i had to do my best to make them realize their mistake, accomplishing which would prevent them from committing the same logical fallacy in the future.

    Not sure if you're trolling.

You want to restrain certain members and make them realize their mistake? You want to elevate them to a higher level of consciousness/intelligence?

You really would take time out of your life to do this important work? Because they didn't like a movie as much as you did? I'm sorry it's not that they didn't like the movie. It's a systemic problem with Indians that prevented them from thinking critically about a movie.

Please continue fighting the good fight.

  12. I really hope they've focused on the gameplay here. I liked the story presentation of UC4, but they kinda over-focussed on it at the expense of gameplay. People were engaged in the story because they at least cared about the characters. If they try and do the same with new/side-characters and ignore the gameplay with this one, it's not going to work out that well

  13. It really does look great on the Switch screen. I prefer playing in portable mode for that reason. It can still look really good on a big TV. The textures can look a bit muddy but the overall visual style and the world (wind blowing, mist clouds, leaves rustling, grass bending etc.) make up so much of the that deficit.

  14. Been playing BOTW for the last two days on my Switch. This game really is magic! The world, the art-style, the music, the characters - everything is perfect and works so well together. It's a truly joyful experience.

Also, I can't believe how responsive the world is. You can interact with everything! You can go to a field, cut grass and you get a bundle of wheat. You can chop trees. You can use a torch and heat apples on trees to make baked apples. I'm having so much fun just discovering everything you can do in the game. And so far, anything I think of and try, ends up working in expected or even unexpected ways.

When I started the game, I was a bit underwhelmed with how it looked. Especially coming from playing Horizon on a PS4Pro/4k TV. But there's something to this game, that sucks you into the world. It many ways, it beats Horizon. Everything you do in the world leaves a mark. This game would be mind-boggling on 2017 console hardware, but it already is mind-boggling on a freakin tablet! I've never played anything like this before. And I'm a bit wary that this game is going to ruin future games on the Switch. But for the next few weeks/months? I think I'm going to have a great old time.

  15.

Use Hardpoint (with tear damage) or tearblast arrows to take off the metal shielding the heart. Then fire precision arrows at the heart. Each hit does 500+ damage.

First half - use the cannon. Second half - attack the heart.

Here's a Thunderjaw I fought on Hard. A lot of the video is running around trying to get into position to get good shots. But as you can see, I didn't use a lot of ammo.

I also threw a rock at the Thunderjaw's face.
