Ditch AWS, go with Vultr. It will run @ max $20 plan and even less and have double performance of aws instance. It has integrated one click backup and snapshots. AWS requires config and is not good, so much overcharge. I can provide free assistance if needed.
you're welcome to move/migrate/maintain it. I'd like to see double the performance of AWS at lesser price.

2L p.a too low for a company that don't give regional pricing in India. If they charge US prices on Indians then they need to give salary according to US wage law

tell them you're expecting <your amount> and if they can't match that then will not be accepting the offer

The SIMS 4.
With all expansions and packs, the game is way ahead of its predecessor. Love it.
I think this is the first time I'm hearing this.. usually you hear about how Sims 3 is lot better (well, if you ignore the performance aspect). I think I'll give this a try.

How much area does a single bulb cover
I think it should be bright enough for a 10'x10' room, I have a Hue at the middle of my hall(11'x11') and dining (9'x9') and a single one is good enough for the entire stretch - note I prefer fairly low lit, not very bright room.
2 hours ago, Joe Cool said:So was wondering if 1 bulb and rest strip and bloom/go (since they are portable and I can place them close to any furniture) is enough.
That should be good enough
2 hours ago, Joe Cool said:Are you using their Android or iPhone app? I read the latter one is extremely bad, which is quite a concern. No point if the app is not good enough for all the effects and whatnot.
I use the Android App. It's competent and does the job. I think their older app was crappy. In any case there are pretty good third party apps (I use Hue Pro) and it does the job well. Hue Pro also has widgets for easy access
2 hours ago, Joe Cool said:Have you tried music/movie/game sync? Any good or just gimmick?
So the movie/music sync doesn't really work too well when you have limited lights (many apps say you need 3) - you can imagine how one/two lights would look when they are strobing. Having said that, I have used the music one, you need to tweak it a bit before you are pretty happy with the results.
The movie/game ones require that you keep a camera source(ie, your phone) towards the the TV and it adjusts the light per whatever comes on screen. Obviously there will be a bit of lag, but yet to try this.

Got a demo of these but didn't find a good use case for these so skipped on these.
2 hours ago, Joe Cool said:Hue motion sensor for room to automatically turn on the lights when you enter
This is next in line to be purchased. Actually my wife is in the US, so mostly will have her bring her 2 bulbs (or maybe even the starter kit and sell the bridge + bulb because it's cheaper) with the the motion sensor
2 hours ago, Joe Cool said:4. Checked any alternate? Given Philips Hue set is quite expensive compared to others, is it worth it? The build quality and life?
Saw some alternatives - Lifx, Osram, some local Chinese ones but they really don't have power of customization as Hue or the brightness/builld quality of availability as the Hue. Most of the bulbs rough cost the same as Hue. With all these decided to go in with Philips as weren't really saving that much. Definitely worth it. Had some hesitation post purchase but no, no regrets, definitely worth going for.

2. Smart lights. Anyone with Philips Hue setup or alternate?
I have Hue setup at home. Currently got the starter kit (3 lights + the bridge) and will be getting 2 more lights to replace all conventional lights at home.
Don't have Google Home yet, will probably get them soon. Now since Google Assistant works with IFTTT, I have setup a recipe with IFTTT where in i can say "Okay google, turn off/on <light name'>" and the corresponding lights get switched off/on. I can also say "Ok google, good night" - that turns off all the lights and Google says Good night back to me

The lights in the hall automatically switch on post sunset thanks to another IFTTT - Weather Underground - Hue integration
Extremely convenient

Facing huge input lag when using DS4, any solution?
Running it 30 FPS lock reduces the input lag.
I am okay with 30 FPS, running the game at ultra. It looks so beautiful
Don't seem to be having any input lag(at least I don't perceive it). I've had to cap it to 30fps else the frame rates jump around so wildly.

And how was Transistor?
I completed Transistor last week, here's my review https://sathyasays.com/2016/07/12/review-of-supergiant-games-transistor/
The narrative and story was a bit confusing(at least for me).
Yeah, it doesn't make much sense till you're near the end, felt that was one of the drawbacks - thoughts as mentioned in the review above:
More than the story, it’s the way in which it’s delivered is something that I didn’t like – till almost the end of the game, you’re moving on jumping from place to place for some reason why you have no idea. While many liked this, Transistor failed to captivate my attention with this approach and if it wasn’t for the many glowing recommendations about the game, I would have given up on the game long back

Can I get a second opinion on these 2 builds? basically wifey needs a new desktop for web dev stuff. Nothing strenuous. She works with multiple browsers, so 8GB is mandatory. Cap is 30k, lower the better

Thanks for the review. Sounds good. I'll give it a go. Can I get the starter edition on ps4?
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
There is a demo, similar to starter edition.
Console version of Diablo 3 is really good..I played PS3 version last year and enjoyed it a lot...PS4/X1 version are same as lastgen versions but with much better graphics running @1080p60fps. Console version support offline gameplay and couch co-op which you will not find in PC version..
PS4/Xb1 versions get the expansion & latest patches, unlike prev gen versions

Well the music isn't upto D2 level, the lines are corny and story telling is bad but the game is incredibly addictive. Combat is incredibly fluid. Try the starter edition, can get it for free. Get a feel for combat and if you like it, grab it.How is Diablo 3? I really enjoyed Diablo 2, so I might get this game in the future

I have few games I'm playing. On the PC:
- Just Cause 3 (halfway done with Act 2)
- Witcher 3(just reached Velen)
- Undertale
- Diablo 3 (now & then)
on the PS4:
- Uncharted: Nathan Drake collection (thank you, Keano!)
- Driveclub

you need to understand the workload before you throw random numbers based random metrics. The geekbench numbers are useless because the forum isn't CPU heavy, it's IO Heavy. I looked up CloudWatch metrics, the average CPU utilization is less than 15%.
There's a reason we have separate managed database and compute instance: the compute instance is quite cheap (less than $8 per month) and the heavy work(and expense) is done by the managed database. The forum is extremely database heavy and the IO workload choked the web server and as a result we ended up with 500 errors. And IVG was on a dedicated server(which IIRC cost 2x our current monthly bill), not a shared host.
I don't know how "plesk 3 domains" will be easy to maintain security wise, please enlighten me. And like I said, if you're interested in taking over running the servers and maintaining them, I'd be more than happy.
Funfact:, IVG does 150k+ views daily with half of it being absorbed by cloudflare with over 2Gigs of bandwidth.
