The game is locked at 30, could be running at 38-45 etc. Plus 60fps doesn't hold all the time.

    Also 1800p is 68% of 4K.

Nope. You are wrong. 1800p is around 85% of 2160p aka 4k.

I use it as a custom resolution while gaming on my PC connected to 4k TV.

    Pasting from PC guide:

1800p (3200x1800) has roughly 85% of 4K’s resolution (and ergo performance requirement) while achieving quality close enough that most can’t tell the difference, at least on a display with proper scaling.

Always thought DF's 1296p was too low when the game ran at full 4K in quality mode. 30 to 60 doesn't tank resolution by nearly 4 times. Hell the Pro runs at higher res but at 30fps. Good to see NXG correcting the mistake again.

    1800p is almost 80% of 4k. 30fps at 4k vs 60fps at 1800p doesnt make sense either.

Yep once you enter, there’s no turning back

As Shawn Layden said the limited 150m core gaming userbase which has been pretty much stagnant since PS2 era are just not enough to make sense out of this business model

M$’s strategy totally depends on the streaming market, where new demographic can be achieved with push of a button

I agree. With Twitch and other streaming services gaining more popularity, there is insane value in delivering content via cloud immediately. Stadia was too forward looking. Won't be surprised if the entire gaming landscape changes in the next decade. I still don't think consoles would become obsolete, but the cloud strategy will probably expand the market to capture people who might be okay shelling out 60-70$ for games but not 500$ for a console.

He didn't preside over some "$500 always online VCR with bundled peripheral that nobody wants" so he is saved from the chopping block.

However if GP doesn't give the "desired results" or someone higher in the chain is displeased with the "GP Strategy"...

ofc he will get out with a generous severance package, it's a win-win for gamers and Phil.

It's gonna be years before the subscription service turns a profit. I work for an enterprise SaaS company and even if we do make record profits, the books wont show. Cos the management will reinvest it to grow.

With subscription models, unless you saturate the market, growth is all that matters. Even *if* the Xbox division becomes profitable, MS will use the money to acquire new studios or do something to retain the subscription base. Whether it converges in the long run, I don't know. But this model is here to stay for quite some time.

Okhay…..listen to the MOD that is righteous & pious:-

Eh? I care about the content that's posted here and don't want a shitstorm brewing. Your only tactic to criticism is to quote someone and not deal with it head on? Dont act like a saint and pretend as though you weren't baiting.

Keep doing this and you are going to drive people away from all threads. Leaving you and your alter ego to have a conversation all by yourselves.

I already quoted one such claim in main game threads

It is being said regularly every now & then

It’s not bait to be sarcastic of what others are saying openly

Snake does that regularly & rightly so

Just cos he does it doesn't make it right. Snake doesn't act like a mod a lot of times when it involves console wars, so bringing him into the discussion is moot.

Sarcasm has a bit of wit involved. Was yours actually witty? I dont think I'll find it even if I use a microscope.

Bubububut but …… “others” are performing a much better job

No one said M$ is doing a better job than Sony  If so, that person is delusional.

All that they've been saying is that M$ is doing things right this time around and that Sony is sometimes deliberately being greedy. It's just hard for some folks to accept that.

Why are you baiting in the PS5 thread unnnecessary? Especially when no one is making any stupid claims.

    I'll just leave this here:

650+ days since any first party title from Xbox.

And the wait lingers on. Even after launching a so called "next gen" console. Every marquee title is still "in development" with nothing but CGI trailers.

So, Flight Sim and Psychonauts 2 don't count? :ko:

What is your definition of first party games, your honor?

That's optimistic, in reality probably it will be cancelled and the studio staff laid off.

Remember, charging $70 for quality maal exclusives is a passe model to sell more consoles.

The new model is subscription s e r v i c e s, where the console is just an accessory

You really think the "I own both consoles yo, but i spend more time on the XSX than the PS5 because of quick resume" shilling in the last page is because of Halo Infinite? or the new Gears game? or Avowed? or whatever else vaporware new IP that has been announced?

It's because the dudes have to justify their 36 months of rental games to  2 random internet strangers and the other fellow game renters on the forum :roflroll:

It's for the games that I never had time to play during the PS4/Xbone era. Or the indies that I play now? How does that even matter?

For critics who neither own the console, nor know the value of time, it's kind of hard to explain the value proposition. Maybe, one day they'll get there.

Yup. I mean ive done full shutdown and resume mid battle. No pc has ever allowed to do that. It's a must for ppl like me who get so sporadic time to play games

Totally agree. I am in the same boat. These days I consider buying a game on Xbox as against Steam (even if the Xbox version is costlier) simply because of Quick Resume.

I uninstalled my Steam version of Hades and planning to start the Game Pass version for the same reason.

I bought it but never played

almost forgot about it until you mentioned

    is 1800p @ 60fps on PS5

    will play it there

Ignore. Thought we were talking about First Light vs Second Son

  12.

TLDW - SN750SE with a read speed of 3500 Mbps performs as good as the SN850 (8000 Mbps) while playing games.

Right now, the only place where there is any noticeable difference is in copying games from internal to extended storage where the lack of DRAM on SN750SE results in extremely crappy performance.

Not sure what future holds, but even slower specced nVMe drives seem to work fine in PS5 (the PS5 benchmark surprisingly gives comparable read speeds for both the drives - well over 5000 Mbps).

Lenght is on the shorter side though. Ign says it's only 9 hrs long, others also in similar ball park

Prices will def drop during the PSN holiday sales, so those who are not in a hurry should wait for a couple of months.

Or get it on EGS :naughty:

I really wanna play it on the PS5 though. PC's HDR implementation is sucky at best.
