This. If the Steam Deck takes off, Switch would start making sense only for Nintendo games. This really ups the ante for the Switch Pro.

Agreed. But look at the value prop for Steam Deck. You can literally carry over your existing game library without having to do anything. It's gonna be crappy when blown up to a larger screen, but for people who want a portable gaming device, want AAA (non Nintendo) experiences and want to buy games for cheap - the deck ticks all of these boxes and more. Heck, folks can play games such as Skyrim/Doom on the go without having to pay the Switch tax. The only thing missing is Ninty games. It can potentially do everything else better than the Switch.

I hope this pushes Nintendo to release an upgraded version of Switch soon It's gonna be interesting to see if this eats into Switch sales.

What you bought this week - 2021 edition

Once you are used to mech keyboards, you pretty much cannot use a regular membrane board. The feedback is just amazing and for someone whose job is primarily programming, this is a no brainer. That said, I have a separate room dedicated for the work setup. So it's not going to be a concern for people elsewhere in the house, but agree that it can be noisy. I used to have a mech board with blue switches (one of the noisiest) back in office and people still put up with me Pretty much this. -

Keychron K2 hotswap with Gateron reds. Finally a good wireless work setup. -
The last leak/info pointed to a remaster of sorts with only higher res textures and 60fps. Dont think we are going to get anything more. If they charge a 10$ premium, I'll still take it. Don't want them to force a rebuy.
-
Take care man. It may be nothing for all we know. Don't lose your peace over it. You'll recover and be fine even if you do test positive.

Is the Director's Cut available for preorder anywhere in India?
-
Just to add to this - The game runs with RT settings equivalent to that PC's Medium settings.

Pretty much the same. B series processor is normally a generatiod behind and the panel brightness takes a hit too. Unless you own multiple TVs or look at them side by side, you may not notice.

Thanks. Are quiet ones more expensive? Nope. The reds cost the same as the browns or blues. Sadly, Keychron doesnt have yellow switches readily available. You ll have to manually buy and swap -

Epomaker is good as @KunjanPSDsuggested. But if you want something readily available check Keychron K2V2 on meckeys.com and keychron.in. Up for preorders now. Get the tactile brown switches -
Decent pricing for PS. But I saw the EA store pricing and was taken aback. The game is going for 900 bucks on PC. Hard to beat the value prop for PC, but glad that they are not overcharging as you said.

The nonsense with being unable to transfer saves is good fodder for Playstation vs Xbox thread. Wonder why no one brings this up in any of the arguments? That said, I don't subscribe to Plus cos I never play online. Removing the only way to backup games is just absolute bull sh*t. Can't believe people are even defending this crap!
-
Are you really serious? I can't copy my save games to a thumbdrive without Plus?

PlayStation vs Xbox vs Nintendo thread

I have major trust issues when it comes to books, games and consoles. Once I lent my copy of Harry Potter 5 to a friend (that I bought at launch) and it came back in tatters. Since then, lending has been a major no go for me unless I absolutely trust the person. Even then I find it hard :| It gets annoying when people lowball in OLX. But you can actually give it back to those guys. If a guy quotes 50% of the cost of the game, agree to sell only the case. It's too early to say if MS has changed the game. Subscription model has traditionally worked for software, but I'd wait and watch as far as games are concerned. MS can only do so much and their development studios are yet to prove their mettle this generation. The third party publishers must be willing to put their games on the platform and for that to happen, MS needs to increase the subscription base no matter. Precisely the reason why they resort to 50$ for 1 month offers and permit Live backdoor purchases. The real challenge for GamePass would be 2-3 years down the line when the hard hitters for Sony line-up and third party devs make good use of the consoles. We need to see how compelling a proposition game pass remains at that point. Subscription models can easily become irrelevant if the churn rate is high and MS needs to hold on and grow the player base with content (reason for aquisitons) consistently. -

There's just unwanted mudslinging going on. I think almost all of us will agree on the following. Let's summarize and move on. 1. Gamepass model makes sense for consumers at the moment because of Live loophole. Whether it is sustainable and will continue with the same price along with day 1 launches remains to be seen. 2. Sony is getting greedy this generation and resorting to some questionable practices. Paying for new content is good, but paying for upgrades to old/launched games or putting them behind a paywall is anti-consumer. Case in point - PC gaming. 3. Microsoft is showing promise this gen as far as exclusives are concerned. Whether they pull it off is yet to be seen. 4. Sony is kicking a*s with exclusives and continues to make great games. 5. Physical >>> Digital. 6. Charging for online multi player is one of the worst things that Microsoft has done to the detriment of console gaming. 7. PS5 controller is more innovative. Xbox controller is more durable. -

Agreed. 25-30k would have been the sweet spot. A lot of folks got it for close to 30k with some discounts early on. -
PlayStation vs Xbox vs Nintendo thread

Not exactly. It's kind of messy like how PS5 handles it. If you want to play XSX games or games that have XSX support (updated) then you need to use the internal SSD. Otherwise, an external SSD is fine for older Xbox games (Xbox, X360, Xbone). This table summarizes it pretty well. -
@HundredProofSamWill this be fixed? Or do we have to start from scratch?

Most of the games that have a 120fps mode for consoles can maintain it locked. Most of the games have a window of 90-120fps. So the mode is essentially useless unless you have a VRR compatible display. But then again, almost all TVs/monitors that support 120Hz have VRR enabled. I play Witcher 3 on PC at anywhere between 70-90 fps on PC with VRR. I can feel the difference if I lock it down to 60fps. The game doesn't have to sustain 120fps for you to notice the difference.

Love the fact that Doom Eternal is getting perf updates and visual improvements that's not locked behind a paywall.
