  1. Cos Sony built up the hype. They started teasing with ads in prominent ecommerce stores and asked people to show interest. Naturally people got excited and now all those hopes are dashed leaving everyone salty af.
  2. Didnt play a lot, but the console was on for a good chunk of yesterday and today installing games. No issues seen so far. Runs whisper quiet and heat output is pretty normal. Installed Diablo 3, Forza 4 and a couple of other X360 games and indies. UX is slick and fast. XboneX seems like a clunky horsecart in comparison. Quick resume works in Diablo 3 and some X360 games but not in Horizon 4. Seems to be a known issue. Otherwise things seem fine. Dont have any discs to test atm, so will have to get something from TP or CEX and test out. No crashes or reboots till now, but I have barely played for 2 hours or so. Work's rather hectic with a release deadline, so been scrambling over the last couple of days @playstationdude
  3. Sure man. Work meeting was scheduled soon after. Just clicked some pics, put the console for update and had to join the meeting. Amazon. Pre-ordered it.
  4. Will do man Will try sharing by tomorrow. Busy day at work, so doubt if I can put it through its paces today :-/
  5. Delivery due today. Keeping fingers crossed ? Dont want the delivery guys to f**k up
  6. Seems like I spent around 49 hours or so. Did you get the plat? I got the plat in the base game, finished Chapter 1 of the Season Pass and skipped the other two (got very repetitive).
  7. Without tensor cores or dedicated processors for ray-tracing, it's an insanely expensive operation. Because your regular shader cores are not at all built for this purpose. You can technically try running a ray-traced game on a 1080Ti or a Titan, but even 2060 would surely give you far better results. Check the Metro Exodus part of this video to get a better picture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1oWopN0k8A
  8. It should be more powerful mostly because of generational improvements. If you intend to game at 1080p, I don't think getting a Series S is a bad choice. You should get access to a lot of next gen games which are guaranteed to work. And gamepass too.
  9. Anyone caught while "playing" GTA SA with hot coffee mod? ?
  10. Ah got it. Do let me know your thoughts as well. Trying to convinve the wifey for a second TV ?
  11. Right now, I've moved away from checking for PS5 pre-order info to refreshing my Amazon orders to see if the XSX delivery is getting delayed ? All the launch excitement is fizzling out due the crappy ops and shenanigans of both MS and Sony
  12. Why 50 man? You dont get VRR or 120Hz with the 50inch model. I know its cheaper, but you do miss out on features that makes the TV future proof
  13. Peace out guys. Don't make it personal, no matter what. This doesn't have to be another facebook or twitter.
  14. Doesn't matter. I got a pack of 4 for 899.00 bucks in total. Now a pack of 4 Duracell costs around 160 bucks. Let's consider the worst case and assume I get only 5-10 charge cycles (these are rated at 500 btw), I've still more than recovered the initial cost and the cost of electricity charging them. Anything more than 15 charge cycles, and I would have recovered the money spent on the batteries + charger. The batteries are supposed to last 8-10 years based on what I've read in Reddit, so if they actually last that long, then I've saved a good deal.
  15. Thanks for this deal, man. Got eneloop pro and the smart/quick charger.
  16. Most monitors suck at HDR and upscaling. Just take that into account while getting a monitor for console gaming
  17. SSDs don't come with heatsinks. Your motherboard does.
  18. I hope so too. Don't want another Vita/MemoryStick pro duo disaster. Also, based on Digital Foundry, the drive bay doesn't seem to have a heat-sink. Wondering if heat is going to be an issue once they start supporting them.
  19. True that Sony isn't harping about backwards compatibility. But the truth is that MS backwards compat is objectively better on the technical side of things. They do have support for 3 generations of games and the backwards compat titles offer 16x anisotropic filtering in addition to the boost. The only games that run better on PS5 than XSX are the ones that released on the base consoles and didn't have a mid-gen refresh patch. Sony has done a great job giving out 60fps patches for first party games like Tsushima and their reliance on checkerboarding has really helped them with backwards compat. The multi-platform games do run on the XSX with a higher resolution though and are nigh locked 60fps in most cases. Seems like both backwards comapt are really good, but MS implementation is better technically.
  20. But not the first time Sony has forced convoluted standards on consumers for the heck of it. If these nVMe manufacturers have to pay Sony to get the approval process, then they *might* lock it. The point is neither of us have enough data to prove or disprove. Why all the hatred based on unsubstantiated claims? ?
