  1. And what are the odds of braking hard when you are doing speeds in excess of 100? even braking from 100-60 is much more than what happen from 40-0

Most of the setting is done in the first 200 km's but what happens after it is equally important. Also as I've said many times, all the various parts in a car need to learn to gel with each other.

I never thought we would have a run-in debate over here on IVG :|

I think thats a common sense which everybody may be knowing , hard braking will obviously take out your brake pads.

Brake rotors and some times tyres as well due to stress on the wheel

  2. There is no set specific limit, infact it is good if one takes his/her car above that range gradually and smoothly

More about the average I'm talking about sealing the piston rings and degradation of brakes and all.

It takes about 50 kms for the engine to be a perfect running shape as the lubrication of the piston sealings .

The more you use the brakes it is beneficial for the brake pads itself (not hard braking or locking up)

  3. It's been a month and a half since I've bought my car. I've never dared to take her more than 80Kph. Speed so early is not advisable IMO. And about RPM, 2500 RPM for a petrol is a safe bet, but diesel? I don't think so. Diesels naturally rev. higher. That said, I've maintained 2.5k shifts predominantly over the period so far, though I frequently touch 3k+

where the f**k did you read it ?

Diesel engines rev lower compared to petrol engine and that is why the performance of petrol engine is superior than diesel engines

The reason why diesel engine rev lower than petrol engines is because the diesel burns slower when compared to petrol in the engine and so does in daily life

  4. These run in thing is for caburetted engines i.e., bikes (most)

As all cars are have fuel injected there is no need for keeping the rev limited or run in's, some compaines advice to keep the rev's less but not keeping in limit does not damage the car engine and not harm the fuel efficiency too (average kam mil raha hai etc...)
