    5k Shipped

Nice price, I might've grabbed it. Oh wait, you never offered it to me at that price :P

Chalo, sab ka bhala ho. I guess just PSU left. No, cabinet. Right? So you've given up PC gaming or do you have another rig?

Okay okay, my next card = Nvidia, maybe a 560Ti.

  2. congo piper bro and wolfy :)

Congrats to all the purchasers on this page.

Congo Piper ! And awesomesauce buy Wolfy !

    Thanks, guys.

    Congo piper and anshul.

    but AMD seriously?????? :P

Just coz you managed to sell your old rotting turd of a 460 don't mean Nvidia is better <_<

btw, how much did it go for?

  3. Piper how much for the card and the psu ? planning on getting the same

    PSU - 4.8k

GPU - 6.5k (it is a used card with 1.5yrs warranty remaining).

Advantages of the PSU : build quality and performance is top notch, 5yr warranty, fan is super super silent.

Even the Cooler Master fan is quite silent, wholly recommended.

  4. Cool, Sunday evening post 5pm would be fair enough. And maybe we'll have some of Bangalore's fine weather too.

Yeah, Purple Haze Marathalli is pretty accessible, should not be a problem. I'm having over some family friends this weekend so won't be able to coordinate, could any of you (Aman) coordinate with interested folk and have a meet up.

  5. Sticky now

    :arigato:

@Badger : As Wolfy asked, what would the laptop be used for primarily. Also, would you be travelling much. In which case, portability (screen size and weight) becomes a huge factor. Secondly, do you need a laptop or would a desktop suffice? Believe me, the people I know who didn't ask themselves this question...

  6. Considering that retail keys of all Valve games can be activated on Steam, I'll probably buy it off retail here. It costs a wee bit lesser as well, and saves me the pain of the downloading (except for likely day 1 patches).

  7. wow!!!! :wOOtjumpy: bangalore meet.. Am in. any Saturday evening.. I may not be able to pull an all nighter but can drop by for few hours... poori raat mein biwi 2 bottle peeche daal degi.. :samui:

I have done my part, invited folks and even offered my place as a party location. Rest is upto you guys <_< .

  8. If budget is a constraint, go for an AMD build. Opt for a good 970/990 chipset mobo (variants of both will come with dual GPU options and 4 RAM slots), and processor you can choose AM3 or AM3+. Your mobo will be fit for the next gen of AMD processors which are to be launched next month (probably). And obviously get good RAM (4/8GB is good enough for the time being).

Remember that for gaming, beyond a point the CPU matters less and the GPU more. Also, getting 60FPS and 100FPS in a game will not make much of a difference to the naked eye. So first decide what are your (gaming) needs and accordingly get a suitable rig for that.

I strongly recommend opting for a used GPU (still within warranty) as that leaves you with cash for the rest of the rig. You can always either sell off that card later for an upgrade or get another one of the same variant and crossfire/SLI for kicks :) .

  9. But why are you going for AMD CPUs ??

The difference between AMD and Intel CPUs has just increased in every generation

AMD CPUs are good for editing , encoding stuff not for gaming

Only their Llano CPUs give Intel a fight in low end segment ..

FX series totally pales in comparison to Intel CPUs at higher end ..

And AFAIK FX series isn't cost effective either

AMD FX offers great price to performance ratio compared to Intel. Piledriver is coming up so I just might wait for newer (better CPU) or prices of existing FX to drop as a result.

Getting a GFX card in the meantime.
