trust me dude, i have seen 2 guys with mad biking skills........ failing the test. The test procedure is super complicated and tough not to mention super expensive if you want to get it done quick it costs around 2000-2500 pound in total just for the license. also you would have to restart the whole license process by leaving the car and going for the bike, but then its your call
.OT: Also from next year every student can kiss their chance of getting a UK resident permit goodbye. Apart from PSW, they are also eliminating the HSMP categories of Visa'

So I guess I'm better off with the Ducati?
and what do you mean when you say 3rd party cover minimum?
I meant at the minimum you need 3rd party insurance if you do not want to go for full comprehensive insurance.
Also, if you are talking about the Ducati Bikes, then best of luck to you, coz from what i have heard and seen (number of friends failing the bike test), it is easier to get a UK resident permit in comparison to a license for a super-bike

My suggestion for you would be to go for a medium- level car. may be lower version of the BWMs? most importantly you should search for a insurance guy who you or your friend knows well and can arrange the NCB on your insurance, it will reduce the insurance price of your vehicle by as much as 70%

u wont get an insurance before you get the actual license, unless ofcourse you know the 'right' people. depending on whether you have cleared your theory paper, it may actually take some time to get the perm license. Actually the automobile tax might not be that high for your car, i am not pretty clear about tax part myself but i have never seen any 1 paying 2000 pounds for car tax. but i am afraid that for 21 years old the insurance quote would be superfically high especially for the cars you are looking to buy, i wont be surprised if the total insurance cost is higher than your cars budget, some insurance companies will literally try to 'loot' you. so do a considerable amount of research before buying the insurance, and yes the insurance is mandatory you cannot drive without it, u need atleast 3rd party cover minimum.
Your locality would also have a great effect, if you live in uptown and near the city centre areas, the companies will try to rob you of your money.
EDIT: This reminds me of an incident we had in London. my housemate had purchased an Accord for 800 pounds +200 pounds insurance ( he was quoted about 1800 pounds for insurance, but he got it adjusted from a contact using the NCB route) , I advised him against taking the car to London coz of traffic, but he still did. I went to a different friends house, and his car was later impounded for parking in a wrong place and he had to pay a fine of 500 pounds(i still dont understand how they charged this high amount) to get it released. jitne ki murgi nahin utne ka masala hogaya

It all depends on his age, license and location there is no way that is gonna get an insurance as cheap as 2000 pounds for Z4 or Audi. My friends little brother who stays in london and is about 18 years of age was quoted 10,000 pounds for insurance by 1 company for a bloody opel
.Dont worry about marutis they have a nice resale value, so your sx4 is safe
. The palio has been sold now for a very low price a few weeks back
, and yes its true about fiat, my dad has bought about 4 fiat cars in total. 2 padminis. 1 for native place, 1 padmini , palio and siena here in mumbai . Although the liking towards fiat was because of the fact that his friend who owns spectra motors also owned fiat showrooms, so he used to just go in there and drive out with the car in those days when temporary registrations were given out
. The non fiat cars he got were 2 city's (gifted away to sisters) and 1 Peugeot ( even the peugeot was from the same showroom
) and more recently ( 3-4years back) civic and SX4. In short except for short use of Peugeot and current use of Sx4 my dad has been using only fiats, and all of them lasted more than 1,50,000 kms

England series from July 21...
Its gonna be good..
yeah, something to look forward to after the WC. England at present form looks dangerous

-
I doubt that you will get insurance for 2000 pounds for a Z4, unless you have a guy who can 'arrange' for 4-6 years of NCB on the insurance.
what kind of license do you hold?

match has been called off

-
yeah man, the rain was a downer, but even more disappointing was the performance of younger players, I am sure Yuvi would easily find his place back in the team now

Also, 1 think i particularly liked about dhoni in this series, he was going for the kill, the attitude of "oh, we have won the series anyway, lets go do some more ads" was absent even in the last match he declared early and in todays match promoted raina. good to see this attitude
-
I guess you are buying it from UK, have you factored in the Insurance and MOT for tht budget or is your budget excluding these? i know a couple of car dealers over there, they might be able to give you a good deal

-
Raina gone, now Dravid will troll the hell out of WI bowling

-
it seems dravid is still playing to save the match, vijay was looking good too bad he got out, i think there is no scope left for a win now

-
Sehwag, where art thou

-
yeah i totally agree, most of the guys ignore this, but one of the factor that should be considered when purchasing a car is that whether you know the dealer personally and are in good terms with him, many a times it helps in getting the work done, in case of repairs and accidents and insurance claims, we had many such experiences with Peugeot, palio and siena . He had even offered to burn down the palio for insurance amount as the insurance amount was way more higher than the resale amount of the car, but my dad said no , he was all sentimental about it as it was my first own car

-
even the owner of the spectra motors owner is a very good friend of my fathers, and that is what i am talking about. My father had to call him up for such a trivial issue to expedite the work, whereas we dont know any 1 personally at Hallmark Honda in Thane, but still they manage to get the work before time. what good is a companies customer service if it is only extended to friends and family members of the service station?
