I thought traffic in Mumbai is very disciplined unlike Pune which has some unruliest of drivers and riders.
I have driven in quite a few places in India. IMO, Mumbai drivers are better at obeying signals and Bangalore has worst traffic of all, even the western express takes 2nd as compared to narrow roads of Bangalore.

Does any 1 have any idea about the service intervals for GM cars after expiry of free warranty? i heard that they have raised the service interval period from 5K to 7.5K.

like i've said before. and it's also in the description of the video, what i've posted is nothing unusual. it's an every day ride that i have to go through to get to work. i would prefer if i had a smooth road with no traffic to ride on but sadly, that's not the way it is. if you want to know about lane law, then i suggest you read up on something called filtering, where a biker is actually allowed to use the gaps between cars to move forward. i don't mean to be pedantic but it's actually legal to do that. i don't approve of weaving in and out of traffic or changing lanes like i've shown in the video but it's heavy traffic, and i didn't hit anyone or cause any accidents.i have a lancer and it's got scratches on it's bumper, but they've been caused by other cars. i find that people riding bikes, despite being too close to my car always manage to leave enough space to not touch my car.
the truth is this, you probably assumed i'm some hotheaded biker who wants to show off about his "krazee biker skillz" but i'm not. i have a steady job, i treat my parents with respect and i love cats and dogs. that probably throws the mental image you had of me out the window. anyway, my point is that you shouldn't be so fast in judging someone just based on a video they've put up, especially when you don't know what context it was made in.
and next time you see a guy in a bike trying to get past you, roll up your windows, turn the AC on and listen to some music. it'll do you good, rather than trying to block him. have a nice day
Yeah, its usual for you and the other guys, and thats where the problem for me and other is. Also, when you title your video "Riding Insane" its kind of hard to think that you are actually trying to highlight the traffic problems, and its kind of hard to think that there is any traffic problem for you, given the way you drive. Every 1 has their own experiences, for most of use driving like this is nothing but nuisance, but you find it normal, may be you have better empathy towards them coz you drive in similar manner.
Also, i always have my windows rolled up and AC on whenever i drive, it helps in cutting out the horn beeps from the motor cyclist who are very furious at me because i dont allow them to damage my car anymore.

so you called me a bad rider and then proceeded to admit that you do the exact same thing. how does that make you any better than the smartass bikers trying to get home or get to work. guess my video was a bad idea but people like you who go out of their way to ruin someone elses day are really not worth arguing with.
It makes me lot better than you guys, coz i am not breaking any lane law. I am just blocking an area which is so small that only a pedestrian can fit in , but the bikes try to zoom past and knock over people side mirrors and scrape the sides of the car, and that too on the side of the road.
There is no need to get personal, i am sure you had expected people to praise your driving skills, but members have rightly pointed out the lack of it. I dont ruin some 1's day and i dont give a damn about you bikers dying yourself in your so called commute. Most of the time the bikers use the foot path for avoiding a jam, if they want to endanger their life, then i dont have a problem with it, but damaging my car just because you want to get home/work early, well that i have a problem with.

For 12k i drove a Lamborghini and Ferrari in my last Paris Trip.
I drove a Ferrari for 6 k

Ya, I feel blind without rear mirrors too

Rear mirrors and side mirrors are different things Hanna
I use side mirrors only for highways and sometimes while parking in reverse in a tight spot. When using side mirror in combination with rear view mirror for parking in reverse in tight spots, you won't even have turn around and look back even once. -
@Rahul
Congo bro.....pics pics pics

On topic of side mirrors, I always have both my mirrors opened. No fear of riders. The good thing about my mirrors is that they fold bith ways, and have no side paint coat. Just a matte finish. You guys should consider mirrors like these too IMO. Once a rider hit the mirror. All I had to do was park in a vacant space and reallign the mirror folded in the opposite direction.
Yeah, but this is a recent trend, those were not offered in the earlier cars. And stop showing off your car, ok, bye.

So we bought an Ertiga... It was between the ertiga and innova for a new family car. The only thing going for Innova was the god like comfort while sitting in the car while the ertiga had good average, decent city driving and a 6 lakh lower price tag.
Good car, satisfied with it. Decent engine, great pick up at 30-40 kms level. It aint a beast but wont slouch in the highways.
I like the car, its a good VFM, i dont know why people hate it. If i were to buy a family car, it would be my 1st choice.

Seriously man? You're proud of that sh*t you call driving?
Drive one day in a car. You'll know how pissing off bike guys who drive like this get you.
And I'm sure you're the type who turns on the inside when a car takes a left turn?
Sent from my quad-core.
I have lost my side mirrors 2wice to these fools, in my early days of driving. Almost got beaten up once for no fault of my own, coz a moron biker in front of me decided to take a right turn from extreme left lane and when i braked hard, it caused a small pile up of 2-3 cars behind me. Had many small side scrapes to the car coz of them.
When i think about it, these stupid bikers are the reason why i still dont use the side mirrors, it has become a habit now.

made a video out of my daily commute to work

Absolutely hate it when some 1 tries to ride the bike in the same manner as you did. Nowadays, when i am stuck in a jam ( especially when i am on the side of the road) i consciously try to block the narrow path which the smartass bikers try to take.

No one wants to see a dark brooding superman having doubts over his actions for nearly half the movie. We want superman to be cheerful and punch things ten times his size, repeatedly.
Totally agree with you, put in a decent plot, and let superman do 'superman' stuff and i am happy with tht.

sky sports is not going to be sending its commentators for the tour & they're going to work from a studio in england which means that they'll have to start work at 4 AM

expect some controversy when one of the frustrated commentators cusses bcci/indian team/india on air

Yeah, had read somewhere that BCCI was asking for cool 4,00,000 GBP for allowing them over here. They said no.

Dabangg 2= DAY 1. Dabangg was the only movie based on action and silliness which I liked. Rest all ranging from Singham to Ek Tha Tiger were crap.
Dabang was kind of average for me. The only Salman khan movie which was really enjoyed was Wanted, watched it many times.

Skyfall,no where close to the awesomeness I hap hoped for, but is still a decent watch.

Wow. They didn't even consider Tiwary for selection. And good luck to Rehane for making to playing XI.
These guys should take up some different hobby or something.
Manoj not making into the team despite the brilliant performances is nothing short of clusterf**k.

Yup train our players on green tops and give firangs dust bowl, say what you may sounds like perfect, let firangs make dustbowl in there home to.practice, good move bcci
They do it every now and then, even previously there're have been instances of preparing green pitches, may be they are just experimenting or trying to scout for decent pace bowlers.

The kid in the video looks more like he is having his "happy time" rather than singing a song.

I didnt know that, heavy discounts can be obtained on renewal of insurance. Managed to get a cool 4k off the renewal premium by some heavy bargaining.

check with local cable operators, many times they have good plans and good pings too
i am on 2mbps UL for 1000 rupees, per month, NO FUP & very low pings , got from my cable operator
I am on 10 mbps unlimited with no fup for less than 1k per.month . Howevet, there can be significant downtimes with local operators every now and then. After many weeks my net is down today due to fiber cut. It has been down the whole day.

I'm not saying their service is sh*t. It's really good, I have his direct number etc. I'm just saying that greasing your CSR's palm when he comes in for a NEW LINE installation is a necessity. I paid him for a new connection, not to come over and fix an issue with my broadband or landline etc.
Its not a necessity, and that is the point i was trying to make.
200 for the MTNL line man and 100 for the technician is a fair amount. Maybe you have a way with Marathis or you speak their language. I don't fancy having a guy disconnecting my line and/or blaming it on a tech issue for a few rupees. Maybe you've had a better batch of folks come your way, I'd rather not risk it. The time invested and the aggrevation cause to try and get a complain across is not worth more than 800 INR for me, it's really that simple.
Finally, I'm not sure about your cabling process, but at 10/m for the cabling, I think 500 INR was a fair price to pay for the cable, which apparently is not included as part of the installation.
So FFS, stop telling me hot to spend my money and handle my technicians. I paid up for my convenience and believe that his demand was genuine when it came to cabling. As for the 200 I dished out to him, it's justified for a personal rapport to develop. I have his direct number and he said he'd drop in anytime there's an issue. A small investment with a long-term return.
I'm glad you saved yourself a pretty penny, but it really isn't your concern as to how I "dole out my money". Consider it a commission, bribe or tip, I can justify it either way.
No body is concerned about how you spend you money. Some of us only tried to point out to you that you have been ripped off coz of that 800 unofficial money comment. No 1 knew you were trying to develop rapport with the MTNL guys. I am sure they and others would develop a good rapport, i mean who wont develop a good rapport with a guy who throws money at them

I really do appreciate your hypocrisy. You claim that you haven't paid a bribe in 5 years, aside from "small bribes for breaking the law, or small tips to hospital guys for looking the other side". What gives you the right to re-define the term "bribery". It's not based on your amount, it's the idea itself. So, in short, you pay bribes too, just not for a MTNL connection.
Furthermore, I paid him 800 'cause he justified his breakdown AND because of the "stories", if you will. 100-200 INR as a tip is fine, but his demand for cabling was mentioned on his first visit, which seemed justified. I doubt he'd try to gyp me for an unjustified cost. It's obvious I'd check up on it and complain if it didn't seem justified. Just reiterating that he didn't "blackmail" me into paying him 800 INR, there was an effective breakdown behind it.
I've yet to verify the cost of cabling (but it seems fair cause the 500 INR that we pay during our application shouldn't cover that cost), but with a bit of math, it seems justified to me. The guy had over 20 years of experience under his belt and seemed pretty genuine to me.
I just don't appreciate how you'll are okay with "doling out 200 INR for chai pani", but as long as the figure has another 0, all of a sudden, it's panic mode. Rates, in our society, are decided as per your economic stature. I've personally experience discrepancies in carpenter, plumber and electrician rates as per my residential location. So yeah, if you pay 100 INR as chai pani, and a fellow at SOBO pays 200 INR, I believe that may as well just be the "expected rate". 100 is acceptable by your definition, 200 by his.
Where did the 5 years thing come from? Yes i have paid bribes for breaking the law , i said that myself and i am not taking any moral stand here, but since this is a BB connection thread, all of us are trying to point out that you really did not need to pay 800 unofficial money. Again i never said anything about the 'Chai Pani' money, and this is not what the thread is about.
To summarise it, you said you had to pay the money because it was a necessity for the BB connection and then you said you paid it as goodwill money and want to develop a good rapport. If you had said in the 1st place itself that you are developing rapport wth every other government official who you encounter for your work, i am sure some of us would have advised the relatives in government department to contact you
-
are you really naive enough to believe that there is no inertia and corruption in the government? you should be thankful that you haven't had to deal with it but to pretend your experience holds true for everyone else is daft.
how did this thread get so derailed.
Are you really that ignorant to read what i have typed? When did i say anything about the government? I merely replied to the OP that there was no need to pay the 800 'unofficial' money to an MTNL guy out of fear. You are going on about rampant corruption in India.

some belkin router. can't check the model number cause it's all dusty
. it was cheapish (3-4k) and it does the job fine.you have no imagination then.
if you refuse to pay the babu,
- file nahi mil rahi, do din baad aana
- technical problem ho gaya hai, ek hafta lagega
- haan sir, aaj hi aadmi ko bhej denge (lying)
- aadmi ki tabiyat kharab ho gayi hai, teen din lagenge
if you refuse to pay the technician,
- he won't show up for days
- when he is finally forced to come... mein gaya tha lekin kisi ne darwaja nahi khola
- line mein kuch fault hai, mein abhi check karta hoon (goes missing for 3 days)
- kuch part kharab ho gaya hai, replacement le kar aata hoon (goes missing for 3 days)
- replacement part stock mein nahi hain, ek hafta lagega
there are countless ways for them to make life miserable for you. and it doesn't even help to go above their heads because they're all in on it.
if you haven't had to pay a bribe in 15 years, good for you but let's not pretend for a second that corruption isn't rampant in this country.
Dude, if you speak like that every 1 can make.your life hell, not just the mtnl guys. Instead of talking about probabilities I've told you how things exactly work in MTNL.As I said before there are very efficient counter check mechanism's in mtnl, the lineman or any other guy can not just say anything and get away with it, he is answerable at different level. If he tries to make up a fake story, you can complaint about it when you get the verification call for problem rectification.
The OP clearly said that he gave the money just because lineman said some story to him about fake applications.
As far as OT discussion goes, usually every 1 draws a line about where to bribe and where to not. I have not paid a bribe for long time, that's because for availing a service I.don't pay a bribe coz most of the time I know.my rights, having said that I have paid small bribes for breaking the law, or small tips to hospital guys for looking the other side.

We may or may not win 4-0, but giving them the same drubbing we got is a distinct possibility. India was screaming 'bachao bachao' to stop the rape, but English were raping us gangnam style
