I had no clue whatsoever regarding 970's memory allocation issue. Damn! I just ordered that card yesterday! Haven't even received it yet. I hate it when stuff like this happens.

I dug around and read somewhere that the issue only plagues the cards that utilize Hynix's memory modules.
Does anyone have any idea about this?
Edit : Looks like it doesn't matter what memory it is. It has something to do with 970's hardware/firmware in general.

Since GTX 970 is $329
i am thinking
960 $199
960Ti $249
965Ti $299
You might have just gotten the pricing spot on.
+ The 760, I think, will be discontinued shortly afterwards, just like the 770 and 780 were after Nvidia came out with cheaper and better 970 and 980.
-
The lowest one should have been named 950. Then the other 2 would have been 960 and 960Ti.
Anyway, if you guys remember this leak -> http://gigjets.com/11/nvidia-geforce-gtx-960-specs-price/ the one listed there was definitely the topmost 960 Ti.
If *that* card is priced around 20k : at around 90% performance of the 970 and priced around 10k cheaper! We have a winner!
-
Base version of the much anticipated GTX 960 turns out to be disappointing. The Ti version however....

^ Thanks mate. That's a relief!

I ordered it for merely Rs.5368. Plus I'll get a 9% cashback by January 30th..

I read somewhere that Corsair went back to Seasonic for V2 versions of the TX series. Is it not the case anymore? Can you please post a link for reference? The PSU has not been delivered yet, I can always cancel the order.
-
I am planning to buy a GTX970 soon and in prep I chose to buy a Corsair TX650 V2 over a Seasonic S12 II 620. Both are Bronze certified. Did I make the right call?

Christopher Nolan announces next Batman movie after watching Vivek Oberoi in Krrish 3
Los Angeles, USA. Highly impressed with Vivek Oberoi’s spine chilling performance as super villain ‘Kaal’ in Krrish 3, Hollywood director Christopher Nolan has decided to extend the Batman series that had ended with his Dark Knight trilogy.
“The Dark Knight Rises was supposed to be the last part of series, but I changed my mind after I saw Vivek’s acting. The way he portrayed Kaal in Krrish 3 reminded me of Heath Ledger’s Joker character of The Dark Knight. It took me just two minutes to decide that I’d make another batman movie,” Nolan said in a press meet.
Final part of the quadrilogy will be named “The Dark Knight Rises Again” and Vivek will be playing role of super villain – Kilvish.
And unlike previous parts, villain in The Dark Knight Rises Again will be sporting a simple look of a beedi smoking Mumbaiya gangster.
These improvisations have been added to give more realistic look to Vivek’s character while hoping to reach out to audiences in smaller towns of India.
But the new movie might not be a cakewalk. Latest reports say that Christian Bale, who played the role of Batman in the series, has refused to act in the final part.
One of Bale’s friends, on promise of anonymity, revealed that Bale was quite insecure of being overshadowed by Vivek Oberoi’s talent. In fact, none of the established Hollywood actors want to take risk of playing Batman due to the same reason.
Sources say that Nolan may ask Vivek to play the role of Batman too.
“This will increase the screen presence of Vivek, which is quite good for the movie,” said a Hollywood film expert, “You can never get enough of Vivek. American public will surely go mad.”
A PR agency hired by Nolan has already started promoting Vivek’s last flick ‘Grand Masti’ to make him more popular among young American audience.
Back home, sources close to Oberoi family disclose that Vivek’s sanity reached its threshold after hearing Nolan’s offer. Vivek’s father Suresh Oberoi is regularly giving him pills to keep his excitement under control.
“Vivek is confident of making it big in Hollywood. And that’s why he didn’t line up to meet Robert De Niro when many others were doing so,” a source told Faking News.

Yes mate they have only mentioned the V-RAM not the resolution. Every game WILL work well on a good card with 2GB memory, I do not disagree.
But I was just considering the possibility of the extra memory being used at a later point. Also we are missing out a crucial thing which is more important than the memory size, its the memory bandwidth.
One of the main reasons why the extra memory is not made use of is lower bandwidth.
Though Gtx770 is an excellent card no doubt, but increasing the size of its memory did not make a difference in performance whereas increasing its bandwidth would have surely done that.
R9 280x has a higher bandwidth and speaking of size of the memory, we do not have a choice now do we? It doesn't come with a lower memory than 3gb. So this makes that discussion pointless.
Ultimately it comes down to choice. -
Mate this is just the beginning of this generation (if you consider referring to it as such).. And already we are getting to see games with 3gb graphics memory requirement..

If you think back, not too long ago 512mb was common and 1gb was high end!
When I mentioned R9 280 it was based on the price/performance and yes it does have more V-RAM but it was never the sole reason. This card has been discussed over and praised many a time on this thread..
And mate I request you to stop personal attacks, it doesn't look good coming from a senior member such as yourself.
That is a little on the higher side of things but not unexpected. Go for a R9-280X if you are getting a good price on that.
I was just adding another reason to get 280x.
-
I don't see the need for more than 2GB V-RAM for what its worth. Having extra is great but not at an additional burdensome cost.
I am assuming R9 280X is an exception

Computer empire is asking Rs.22k for MSI N760 2GB OC

If you want a future proof card 2GB will not be enough
-
MSI R9 280X is now available on flipkart.
I am hoping for a lower price when WS Retail has it in stock, right now its some other seller.

Instead of dropping; the prices have gone up a bit from what they were at launch. Hopefully Nvidia will have drop the prices soon
-
It was lesser in the morning, it above 19.5k online now. Prices fluctuate. But you can get it for a cheaper price locally
-
^^^ I was going to wait for Steamroller CPUs but as you know there has been no news regarding them; just one leak
-
760 starts at around 19k online. You can get it cheaper locally if you have a good source
