1. Alright guys, a guy on another forum helped out a little bit, and here's the updated list of apps to get....

    Root Explorer

    PowerAMP Music Player

    App 2 SD Pro

    To Do List Widget Lite

    Screenshot ER

    SetCPU for Root Users

    Autostarts

    MX Video Player

    Olive Office

    SD Maid

    QuickPic Gallery

    FreeSpace

    DropBox

    Dolphin Browser

    Ultimate Custom Clock Widget

    Avast Antivirus

    Andromizer

    AdAway

    What do you think ?

By the way, do I really need Avast Antivirus ? I mean is the Android "scene" so corrupted with viruses, etc., ? Also, if it keeps running, do you think I'll see a decrease in performance in games/videos ?

  2. Hi Guys,

I just bought a barely used Dell XCD35 (Gen 2 with 512 MB RAM :D). This is my first Android phone and am VERY EXCITED :D. The phone is currently rooted and when I turn it on I can see the CM9 logo, and it is currently on ICS 4.04 (ColdFusionX). This was all done by the person I bought it from who also told me he's installed Clockworkmod and has provided me with the stock rom backup.

Now, I am very VERY new to Android and am still searching the forums and reading a lot and getting to know the general terms, words, etc., and had a few questions to ask you guys.

Well, my PC is connected to the internet via a USB modem and I don't have wifi, hence I cannot connect my phone to the internet to get the basic apps to get me started. This is why I'll be taking my phone to my friends house who has wifi and get all the apps installed on my phone. Now after searching on forums for the most basic must have apps, I have made a list and would really appreciate if you guys can have a look at it and suggest me whether they are good or suggest me a better app or if they are not at all required :)

    Alright, so here goes....

Astro File Manager (to manage files and install apks)

PowerAMP Music Player (I guess this is better than "Apollo")

App 2 SD Pro (install apps to SD card I guess to save phone memory)

RAM Manager (I read the thread and it seems quite good - Do I need this ?)

Screenshot ER - OR - Screenshot It (please recommend one)

    SetCPU for Root Users

    Autostarts

CacheMate for Root Users (is this needed?)

VPlayer (plays .mkv so I think it's good)

Documents To Go 3.0 Main App (view text files, MS doc, excel, etc ?)

    SwiftKey 3

The reason I ask is because I don't know whether I need these or something better is already in ICS 4.04. Another MAJOR reason is I'll get to do this once when am at my friends house, and once am back home, I won't be able to access net on my phone.

Any help in this regards would be highly appreciated.

Thanx a lot in advance. Desperately waiting for a reply :)

Edit: I would also appreciate it if you guys can recommend any other must-have apps that I might have missed :)

Edit II: Currently, I have Vodafone (Mumbai Circle) (Billing) and am thinking of speaking with them and see if I can get internet started on this number :)

  3. I think you can watch the movie with family..there were a lot of couples when I've watched it..and only the first half of the movie was mostly about the sperm and jokes..the second half is mostly typical bolly senti and family drama ..

Thanx for the info man. Really appreciate it :)

  4.

Congrats dude. By the way, if your PC can handle it, I would SERIOUSLY SUGGEST to mod GTA IV and install those really nice looking mods that completely modify the look of the game. I remember seeing a video on Kotaku and I couldn't believe my eyes. I literally drooled :P

    Check this out...

  5. Guys, how is Vicky Donor. I mean I know the reviews are good, etc., but is it a good movie to watch with family ?

I still regret the day I took my wife to watch Delhi Belly. I didn't check the reviews back then, and we always watch Amir Khan production movies, especially if they have Imran Khan :)

Even though she had a few laughs, she was furious by the end of it due to the cursing and all :(

So how is Vicky Donor? Okay to watch with wife or is it strictly a "with friends only" movie :P

  6. Having been a PC gamer for many years and finally taken the console plunge earlier this year, I began to ponder over the one aspect of my life which my gaming affects (or vice versa) : my married life. I mean, its no trouble in paradise or anything but to be a gamer and a devoted spouse at the same time can be in the very least, challenging.

There are plenty of us here on IVG and its time to have our own thread. We can also compile a handy list in the OP, starting with myself.

    IVG ID : Piper

Gaming stuff I own : PC, PS3, Android

    Married since : November, 2008

So here's inviting all those gamers who've tied the knot to share their experiences.

    Am in :D

I got married in November 2010, and I own an Xbox 360 and a Nintendo Wii.

    And here are my replies....

    1. How does your spouse feel about your gaming time?

A: She says it's a complete waste of time and that I should be out "earning money" just like every other husband in my community :(

    2. Does she think those gaming figurines would come in handy for the kids to play with?

A: I don't have any figurines, but she's gets very irritated about the amount of space my gaming stuff consumes.

    3. And the money spent on this passion, how does she feel about it?

A: Oh, she's obviously totally against it, but in the end, she did say that "my husband deserves it"

    4. Do you encourage your wife to play some videogames with you?

A: I ALWAYS encourage her. That's the reason I've kept the Wii still with me. May be the motion gaming gimmick and the cartoony games will lure her in :D She was totally excited to play the new Donkey Kong game on the Wii :D

    5. Would you be happy, surprised, thrilled or scared if your wife also became a member of IVG?

A: I actually would be proud of her that she got so far as to joining IVG. She knows quite less about computers and is still learning how to use them.

    6. Do you encourage your wife or share her passions say may be, Saas-Bahu serial, Or Romantic YRF movie Or Cricket, Or Bhartnatyam Dance Show etc..?

A: Well, I have to. At first, I was totally against Saas-Bahu serials, but given she is a working wife (she's a teacher :)), she needs her "time-out" and sometimes I do join in if the serial gets interesting.

    7. How many hours in a week you devote to your Gaming?

A: I get weekends off, but am only able to devote not more than 5 to 6 hours total, but am happy with that :)

    8. What are three things you wish your wife would understand about you and your connection with Gaming?

A: 1) That I can't live without video games - but I think she's pretty much got the hang of it.

    2) That any amount of money I spend on consoles and video games is "justified", which I highly doubt she ever will.

    3) That it is vital I play games during my weekend to help me "zone out and decompress".

    9. If you want one game to see your wife beat you in..Which one will that be?

A: That day will never come, but I will have to stay "Street Fighter" :D

    10. What changes after marriage?? As in, Me time, utilization of me time, you as a person

A: Well, I obviously have had to change QUITE A LOT. I've had to rearrange my gaming time. I just can't come home and start playing games anymore on weekdays :( No more all-night gaming

    11. Would you like your kid(s) to be an avid gamer(s)?

A: Oh MOST DEFINITELY. That is one of the passions I would love my kid to have. I so wish to be an AWESOME GAMER DAD one day :D

    12. Have you ever planned a surprise gift/ party/ outing for your better half??

A: Yeah, I've done that a couple of times.

@OP - Why don't you make a list of married gamers in your initial first post, that way we'll know how many of us are there on IVG.

    Lol :P

    GOW3 + PS3 -- wat a start...where is the skin..

Thanx man. Grabbed the GOW3 from a local friend who just finished it :D

And about the skin, the delivery guy brought the wrong skin so I returned it back, and when I opened up the PS3.....God I fell in love with that blank thing....so thought would postopone the skin for the moment and got store credit for 800 bucks at Intencity :)

  10. Arre where can i find the fastest horse ?

Play one of the Bonnie's missions, and she'll gift you the "golden pearl horse" referred to in the game as "The Kentucky Saddler". That is one of the fastest in the game with 3 stars :D

  11. ^congo

is the 3D version included in the BR??

I highly doubt it coz if I remember correctly, James Cameron specifically stated he would NEVER release Avatar in those red and blue glasses home 3D. His intentions are that people should be able to enjoy Avatar 3D just like in an IMAX theater, and an official Avatar 3D Bluray has been on hold until those 3D LCDs become mainstream :(
