  1. The attitude era is over and done with. It will never be back cause the greatest of legends: The rock, Austin, Eddie, Benoit, Shawn Micheals, edge, and countless other mid carders are all retired, dead or into acting. Triple H is one last glitter of hope in these sad times, and the moment he and undertaker retire, that will be it.

Do NOT even bring up TNA here or I will smash your head into a wall.

WWE is going down the drain. Case in point:

As part of WWE’s recent “rebranding” effort (dropping “World Wrestling Entertainment” as the official company name, banning the word “wrestling”) – a document that was distributed internally has leaked out titled “The Language of WWE.” According to the Figure 4 Wrestling Newsletter, he document was sent to employees who do international voice-overs for WWE programming outside of the United States.

The sheet includes a list of words and phrases that have now been deemed “Incorrect Terminology” – along with what they consider the “Correct Terminology” to be used on their televised shows. From “The Language of WWE” -

“World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is a publicly traded entertainment company (NYSE: WWE) that creates and delivers a weekly action soap opera to its passionate fans.

WWE has been a recognized leader in entertainment for more than 25 years and has developed into one of the most popular and sophisticated forms of global entertainment today.

As a global entertainment brand, the language that we use when communicating on WWE is critical.

Please ensure that you are familiar and employing the below, effective immediately. “

Here are some of the terms that are banned and the alternatives that WWE wants used:

    * “Wrestling” or “catch” is banned. Some European countries still use the term “catch” to describe pro wrestling and “catchers” to describe wrestlers.

    * The following phrases are incorrect: “Wrestling is broadcast in 145 countries,” or “Catch is broadcast in 145 countries.” The correct terminology is: “WWE is broadcast in 145 countries.”

    * Even the word “Sports” is no longer allowed. Instead, WWE is to be referred to as “Entertainment” or an “Action Soap Opera.” Seriously.

WWE gives these examples: “WWE is exciting entertainment” or “WWE is an exciting action soap opera”

    * “Athletes” or “Sportsmen” are not allowed either. WWE gives the following example to use: “WWE Superstars are entertainers with tremendous athletic prowess.”

    * The terms “fight” and “fighting” are not allowed. Matches must be referred to as “matches,” “bouts,” and “action.”

“The Language of WWE” concludes with the following “Key Soundbytes” to be used:

    * “WWE is pure entertainment”

    * “WWE is an action soap opera”

    * “WWE Superstars are entertainers with tremendous athletic prowess”

  2. will do. i have to say that i'm impressed the pc version of the game is available only days after the official release date. in fact, flipkart has shown it in stock since friday, which was day zero. distributors get a lot of flak when games are delayed but they rarely get credit if it's on time, so kudos to them for this one.

interestingly, the key activated on steam says it's the fear 3 CE... so it's possible we're getting the collector's edition of the game for normal price.

My respect goes out to the flipkart dudes. They always deliver promptly, and with no hassles and with cash on delivery :exoticdance:

  3. Thanks Smash and Fatman

This is really comfortable to wear :arigato:

  6. @MindWarrior...

    1. About 2 hours on a weekday, 4 on weekends.

    2. Yes (all thanks to me), she knows a lot about games now and likes to play lighter stuff like PvZ or some PSP games.

    3. Not really (mostly due to the lack of suitable games in my collection) but she likes to watch especially if it's a scary game. It's just like watching a movie together.

    1. Pure unadulterated awesomeness.

    2. Pure unadulterated awesomeness.

    3. Exactly my point. Games have become movies for me now... I started playing uncharted 2 yesterday (I know, its late, but I got my PS3 recently)... and, man, was I blown away.. awesome graphics, awesome set pieces, and great story! I went "ohoo f**k" when I saw drake hanging on by a railing...

But Tyler, do you already have kids? If no, what happens to gaming when you have a kid?

  7. Some of my favourite childhood memory is to see my Mom Dad play as a team for "Battle City" on our Video Game. Those were precious 30 minutes of Dad's lunch break before he went back to work, everyday.

And many a times Mom Dad used to compete in "Othello". Me and my bro used to partner with either of them and play it like War..

    Oh! awesome bachpan memories..

More like, Family that plays together.. stay together..and have hell lotta fun!

If theres a next life, Id like to be born as your brother... with gaming parents, and a gaming sister, life would definitely rock :O

How cool would it be if a kid went to school and told his friends "Ya know what, me and my sister are in the global top 100 on killzones leader boards"...

    /drool

  8. I agree with Javs and outsider, it's very difficult to get alone time after marriage. You may feel that your wife watching her TV soaps etc is her "alone time" and that makes your gaming time justifiable but trust me it doesn't work that way at all (I used to feel the same way too).

No woman will ever accept "don't disturb me I'm gaming!" type of attitude. It works when you're doing office work or something which appears serious and "important". So the idea is to have a healthy attitude about it. Play games but don't block her off like that. Keep talking to her even if you're playing or do it when she's busy with something of her own but never ever shut yourself off. It's a huge turn off for most women. They really don't like their men putting something else above them.

Try to involve her in your hobby. Tell her about gaming stuff even if she doesn't appear to be interested. The fact that you're actually sharing it with her will get her interested. Trust me, it works.

I've been married for 8 months now and by doing the above I'm enjoying my hobby and keeping my relationship healthy as well. Like all couples we have our fair share of problems but none of them are related to my gaming habits.

    @ tyler, titman, and javs:

Hehehe looks like Ill have to take a lesson or two from the masters themselves..

    1. How many hours of gaming per day / week do you get to enjoy?

    2. Is your spouse even remotely interested in gaming? Like, does she go, "wow, this games graphics look better than the previous ones"?

    3. Have you ever tried to play a two player game with her? :fear:

  9. life change after marriage, ask all the married men here, so you asking to keep up with your bachelor lifestyle even after marriage?

I play for an hour or half an hour before bed these days.. I understand lifestyle will change, the next generation of console will come out.. newer better games will come out..

Its always been that way hasnt it? I see myself as a guy who plays one generation and gives the next 2 a break.. I played the original warcraft in DOS when it came out for the PC, and completely skipped PS1 and PS2 generation of games purposefully (I was a kid back then, and used to get no pocket money).. I just found a way to fill up the void with TT and violin practice instead.. Im sure Ill do the same thing after I get married too.. but this time its gonna be sayanora once and for all.. My PS3 would probably get used to watch movies on weekends with the missus, or play the odd gow level, and apart from that, I dont see life threatening changes.. Yes, Ill still want to beat that challenge of hades on my PSP version of GOW : COO every now and then..

My obsession and eventual recovery came from PC games not from console games. PC games are much more addictive. Im looking at you, DoTA, and runescape.. The position that I used to sit in, for hours together caused a lot of back strain, and back pain.. These days, I dont obsess over trophies or accomplishments, and multiplayer doesnt seem much addictive like it was when it first came out.. Games are just like movies to me right now, with massive stories, and set pieces.. I play them lying down on my bed actually, and from what I experience, it doesnt take a lot to spend half an hour a day on a hobby...

  10. A couple of things to point out:

    1) Watching soaps =!= alone time, no disturbances etc.

    2) Bonding over a game controller also =!= alone time, no disturbances etc.

I think that's the point Javs was trying to make.

I do have other hobbies apart from gaming also. By two hours, I didnt mean Id spend those two hours gaming.. I just like being left alone to get my stuff sorted out. Like organizing my room so that the next day morning, I dont have to wakeup and start searching for everything from my bike keys, to my laptops mouse. Gaming has been a part of my life, but since when I changed, its never gone beyond the point wherein its taken control over me.

    1. I play table tennis... a lot! Played regional matches but never got the time to go past that.

    2. I practice the violin (classical music).. been doing it from the past 14 years. Gonna start a blog soon where Ill post all of my music recordings.. Youll find Im pretty good at it.

I would stand my ground to defend the above two equally with my PS3. Someone bringing kids near my TT table, or near my violin is a strict no no.. Not everyone who is a gamer, and defends gaming as a viable hobby needs help.

In reply to what you said:

    1. Watching soaps does equal to alone time for some people. Ive seen my cousins wife who wants pin drop silence around the house whenever shes watching a serial. Anyone starts talking, she instantly goes "shushhhhh, this is the important part!!".. Funny, she says that about both serials she watches before having food and going to bed.

    2. Like I already said, I not only obsess over my PS3, I also obsess over my TT bats, and my TT table, and my violin.. Id take bonding with a table tennis match, or a lesson in playing the violin over a candle lit dinner any day of the week.

  11. if you keep that attitude you will never find a girl and even if you do she will run away in 1 month......no woman can accept another souten(PS3) getting attention more than her so goodluck

Isnt watching TV a hobby? Isnt watching saas bahu type serials, catching up on who killed whom, debating about every twist and turn, every day an obsession?

They re watching saas bahu serials with a remote in their hands, reliving a story through someone elses eyes, Im playing a game with a controller in mine, controlling my charecter's destiny. Hows that any different?

Other people have their obsessions, I have mine.

Moreover, women these days are more tech savvy than you think. If a couple can connect over a candle lit dinner, they can do so in a dimly lit room with a game controller in their hands too.

  12. Im not married yet, but if I ever do decide to marry someone, Ill definitely tell her up front that Im a gamer, and not an average one at that.. I need a minimum of 2 hours a day by myself. By myself = not being disturbed for anything. Not for food, not for sleep. People should have an obsession in life, or else life gets boring very soon.. Parents have had gardening as an obsession, and I have gaming. They'll go to any lengths to protect their plants and Ill go to any lengths to protect my PS3.

    Just puttin it out there..

@ Megz: That ladys story is sad! I used to be obsessed with playing online but saw the light once I started performing badly @ work.. I looked in the mirror, and didnt like what I saw.. Thats when I started to change.. Even now I play a lot, but I know when to put down the controller and say Ive had enough. Now Im gonna go to sleep. Im happy to say ever since I started having more control on my gaming, Ive started performing better @ work as well...

  13. Hello! Alvord12 here

I found this site through Google and it has been on my bookmarks list ever since. I've been lurking around here for the past few days and finally decided to make an account. I just got back into gaming a month ago and I'm currently playing all the games which I missed out on.

I'm a student of Civil Engineering and a hardcore techie. I'm also into Anime and Manga; not an otaku though :giggle:

Looking forward to having some good discussions about the latest games and new with the members around here. :)

    Welcome to IVG brotha..
