  1. Weird issue about the PS4 shutting down when running on UPS power. Most UPS' have slots that are denoted as backup + surge protection. However there are some that have specific power slots that provide backup + surge protection as well as a slot that only provides surge protection. I had a 800VA APC about 3 years back that had 3 slots for backup power + surge protection and a fourth power slot for only surge protection. If you havent checked try using the PS4 in another UPS slot.

Yeah Bro, tried the different slots (Backup+Surge=4 slots and Surge only=2 slots), that's the first thing I checked, I'm guessing the issue is time delay between UPS and PS4 - but as per reviews people who have this UPS have their PS4 connected and its works fine, I have a home Inverter (800VA) as well, but since it switches off during power cut even with the inverter I bought the 1000VA UPS but that didn't work either, So also suspect issue with PS4, I believe the seller in amazon was selling refurbished PS4 coz the first one I got was damaged and the second one - well you see whats happening now, due to the power cuts I got the safe mode screen on the PS4 and rebuild didn't work, it just ends up with the same safe mode screen - so only option left was initialize which made me end up losing all my files, all this in 2 weeks. So I just pictured myself going through this on the long run, replaying games due to losing files with power cuts, h/w damage due to pwr cuts, sony pathetic Cust care & warranty cover and yada yada, it just wasn't worth it, so I returned it back to amazon for a full refund and wait patiently for the day when they come out with a PS4 Slim with improved specs and hardware (its because of my experience with the PS3 slim which I had for 3 years I bought the PS4), till then I'll stick with PC gaming and PS3

My ps3 always shuts down when there is power cut in spite being plugged into a 1000va ups.

Got frustrated and brought a surge protector and sold the ups

when there is a power cut it shuts down and unless something was being written on hdd it boots up just fine

Been through 300+ powercuts, ps3 and hdd is still rock solid

Just get a good spike buster and connect the ps4 with it

protect the spike buster via MCB not a standard fuse

I had a PS3 slim, that worked perfectly fine with my home inverter, its because of my experience with the PS3 I bought the PS4, its just the PS4 that restarts during power cuts, its got some seriously sensitive PSU

  2. My PS4 shuts off even if it's connected to the UPS APC BR1000G-IN during a power cut :helpsmilie:

I just don't understand... Everything else stays on except the PS4, after reading forums and reviews I bought this ups (freaking 9k - coz i thought the best deserved the best right?). It happens with another ups as well (600VA). Just the ps4 connected to ups and still cuts off. It's has worked for others from what i read online (amazon). Is it an issue with the PS4? I bought the ups just to shut it down and that's 9k and it doesn't work for the main reason I bought it for and I continue getting sanity check messages from the ps4 coz of the improper shutdown.

TV stays on... Everything stays on except the ps4... That's what's frustrating.... The load on the ups is so less as I can see it on the ups display.

But I have tried with at least 3 ups's and Ps4 is connected on battery backup on the UPS not surge only (master) along with my tv. I even configured the ups unit sensitivity to high but no go. No matter what I do it has an improper shutdown during power cuts. Just weird/sad that's it's only the ps4 that has this issue and none of my other stuff. My computer just works fine on another low powered ups (600VA) APC in my room. Has anyone had this issue with their ps4? I don't find anything online. I have a home Inverter and a UPS.

Please let me know if you guys have any inputs if so I'll return this back and get a souped up PC. These guys from Sony India say that its not designed to work with a UPS and they are very smart that they don't have extended warranty plans in India (they are very well aware of power cuts & the damage it can cause, they don't have the Indian consumer in mind). After you warranty expires if something goes wrong, they dont fix anything here instead they give you a brand new PS4 but you will have to pay for it but out of the kindness of their heart 30% discount :helpsmilie:
